  1. there are many schools that wont allow your child in unless vax cards are up to date
  2. Thanks Frosty, did your route to and from Alberton on Saturday. Not a bad route, roads are a little worse for wear through the Wadeville section but early on a Saturday morning with very little traffic its easy enough to go around or bunny hop over sections. I might give the R554 route a try next time.
  3. Saturday. Looking for Frosty. bit of rain, bit of wind. Sunday afternoon. Wind surfing.
  4. I present to you the POC Omne Eternal https://www.pocsports.com/products/omne-eternal
  5. I got into it as a central place to store all my ride history, and since just about everything from training apps to maintenance apps plug into strava it makes sense to keep it going.
  6. also try the draw your own route feature. you freehand draw a rough route and Strava automatically plots it using the most popular routes
  7. yes, but with a starting speed limit being lower the driver speed will be lower - speed limit + 50%
  8. I wont be going further east than rondebult, will I still be ok ?
  9. Thanks Frosty, I plotted your route, will give me around 27km one way, so I'll add a little extra on the way back home.
  10. thanks for the info folks, I'm going to check out Frosty's route too. Since my folks will be away for a while I'll get the chance to try a few routes out.
  11. what concerns me though it the 100km/h speed limit. We all know that in this country driver speed = speed limit + 50%
  12. I looked at turning right onto Osborn and up through Wadeville, but looking at the areas on streetview they look like they may be a bit to isolated on a weekend
  13. I've pm'd one of our esteemed bikehub member already as he would probably know, but I'll put this out here anyway. My parents are away, I need to check up on their house once a week, decided to rather cycle there. When I plot a route on Strava using the heatmap it takes me on the Heldeberg / Van dyk rd route. What is this route like for a solo cyclist riding on a saturday/sunday morning, both direction.
  14. But are you to sexy for your shirt or did you join the joyride?
  15. It’s a pity I no longer know the right people at ACSA, could have probably arranged something.
  16. Strava plugin , statshunters.com
  17. If you have the time and the inclination you can get them wrapped on the knuckles, in terms of POPIA they have to tell you why they want your info, who will have access to it and what will it be used for.
  18. if I could get into ORT airside there are a number of tiles on Statshunter in there that I need in order to complete a grid.
  19. I realise it probably cant be explained in detail in 1 or 2 posts, but do you care to give a brief explanation of how this Easy and Hard training works ?
  20. hahaha previous 2 mornings I met up with a commuter on his old Schwinn. Normal work clothes, tekkies, backpack, no helmet. Tuesday morning I pull away from the traffic light that we met at, slight tail wind, I get going, go down on the drop and put the power down enjoying the tailwind. Probably did 3 km before the next light catches me. By the time I've uncliped and put my foot down mr commuter is right next to me. Rinse and repeat. I could have gone quicker, but honestly not by more than a few km/h, and this guy was right behind me.
  21. The only KOM I'll ever have is if I create a segment on a private piece of land that only I have access to, the moment anyone else has access to that segment I will be dethroned.
  22. Its not uncommon for my Garmin to tell me i need 36 to 48 hours recovery after my morning 27km ride. Whether I ride or not the next day is usually based on how I feel and my HRV that morning. Speaking of VO2, according to HRV4Training mine is considerably lower than what you guys are quoting, and also I've noted a drop of 1 since getting back into riding after COVID
  23. we have unanimously agreed that its rubbish and should not be used
  24. as others have said, TITS, lots of TITS
  25. I was referring more to maps than gpx files. I do mass participation road races, there has never been a need for me to have a gpx file, but I do like to see which roads the route takes to mentally prepare myself. I have only gotten lost once in a "race", and that was a very small fun ride where I lost sight of the leading group, saw a few cyclists on a side road and chased them down only to ask them if they were in the race and find out I've taken the wrong turn.
