  1. I reckon 2 or below for those tyres, unless you weigh a tonne
  2. It's got more to do with tyre size than wheels. Thug's got fat tyres on his SS which allow him to run the low pressure. As a rule of thumb, if you're riding offroad you want to go as low as possible, but not have the sidewalls crumbling while cornering, and not having rocks hit your rims when you ride over them. The best way to discover this pressure is by trial and error.
  3. Don't be a poser and get the standard black Shimano ones

Yep, faster-wearing titanium for twice the price all for the sake of saving 39g. I'd harp on for longer about how stupid all this is, but the titanium Dura Ace cassette costs less than most steel Campy cassettes, and being a Campy rider, I better keep my mouth clamped shut. Got a quote for a Veloce (105 equivalent) cassette from Solomon's yesterday - R950

are you kidding? I do 10 000km on a chain. So you're due for a replacement next century then?
  6. CRC has white cable housing at GBP5 per metre
  7. If the bearing fits snugly into the frame then the chances are that's what it's meant to do.
  8. No need for a group order. Shipping is free whether you order one or twenty. The only hassle is the wait, which can be looooong. If you're impatient and want your light now, buy Brad's.
  9. Mine is the 3-mode version. Doesn't really bother me, because I use it for my weekly night race, which is only an hour anyway... Just sharing my experience.
  10. I have the MS lights, except I bought them from Deal Extreme at half the price. The light works very well, but I would question the stated run time on high. The lights I have don't get much more than an hour on high beam. You get more on low beam, which is more than adequate for most night riding.
  11. Taking my bike to Andy on Monday
  12. Was it a carbon frame, spidey? Was it badly damaged? What did you do?
  13. Thanks Zaskar. I'm not in the mood for spending R400 on bottle cages, but I will consider your suggestion for the next time I'm feeling rich. I have a pair of these on my Colnago, which I will transfer to my Scott asap. As you can see from the design it is impossible for the bottle to fall down. http://www.cateye.com/sites/cateye/upload/products/275-og.jpg
  14. The problem is the lip at the bottom of the bottom cage. It's got nothing to do with a spacer between the cages and the frame...
  15. Yeah' date=' but your carbon already has two holes that size in that tube: for bottle cages This is just a third one...[/quote'] Good point, and the Darwin-award contenders will also note that the bike is slightly lighter now too
  16. Yebo yes. You can't pair Sram shifters with Shimano rear derailleurs.
  17. Thanks DD PS: don't use the "S-word" around epoh, it's like a red flag to a bull
  18. I'm convinced Mud Dee is right: the water and sand etc definitely played a role. It is just too much of a coincidence otherwise. My guess is there are several more carbon frames that got this kind of damage last weekend
  19. Thanks Barend. Seems fairly conclusive that it's the bottles. Unfortunately I'm pretty sure my damage - and epoh's - is more than just the paint. It looks like at least two layers of carbon have been rubbed away
  20. BB, is your bike carbon? Are you gonna carry on riding it or try get it repaired?
