  1. Ah IanJ, you beat me to it!
  2. We have a very disciplined (safety wise) group that leaves from Illovo at 5am Tues to Friday. The rides on Wed, Thurs and Friday are all close to Emmarentia. For more info check this site http://www.cyclesafe.co.za/icg/index.html
  3. Nice pics, Pantani! Zaskar, I hope you flew the flag for ICG and came past the Russian at the finish?
  4. Linden cycles usually has a small selection of old school bikes outside their shop. The prices of their second hand stock are usually very reasonable, which helps keep the stock ticking over and different bikes appearing. If you're after a farm gate, they have an old, huge Colnago with full Campy that they've been struggling to sell. I forget the price offhand. I scored a bargain there on a bike for my brother and IanJ also got his MTB there for next to nothing. I think you might find pawn shops in troyeville and rosetenville. I've also heard of the odd bargain cropping up at cash converters. I doubt most cash converters would recognise the significance of a pair of Delta brakes.
  5. Velo, you promised some more pics of your Master. I think that's exactly what's needed to breathe some life into this thread
  6. Those shifters are HOT! I love the little adjuster on the RH shifter.
  7. Nice! Hope it's a very good friend, considering that bike is an excellent sample of SA cycling history.
  8. Nice machine GT and it looks like it's in good nick too. I like the chrome and what looks like a columbus sticker on the fork? Are those Wolber rims?
  9. It's my experience that exposing litterbugs on the hub is much more effective than taking them to task at the scene of the crime. There is also much less risk of verbal/physical abuse. Most of the people I've accosted have merely shrugged and replied "so what?"
  10. Damn mountain bikers. Always complaining :-)
  11. @Delgado: thanks man! What do you think I ought to do with her: down tube shifters or ergos? Thanks for the offer of the wheels but let me first get this baby on the road. I've only ever had two rides and both were with Sh1tmano @Greyowl: where are the levers?
  12. Wayne, that is pure porn! What's wrong with the pulleys? Here are some pics of the wheels on the bike.
  13. Yebo yes, BB. Means I've had to make some slight changes to my plans. I've either got to convert the ratchet in my 10spd shifters to 8spd or find another pair of shifters. Anyone keen to swap me good condition 8 spd Ergos for a pair of good condition Centaur 10spd Ergos?
  14. Got these today for my Colnago Master: Now I'm on the lookout for some 8spd shifters.
  15. Pantani, thanks very much for the prizes!
  16. I'm looking for a pair of 8spd Campy down tube shifters. Think I'd be able to find these locally?
  17. Well done Icycling .
  18. Ah, I just remember your frantic post back in June
  19. Rad, are you allowed to use the "O" word now? I've had mixed success with plugs. I've found a few i've put in have fallen out. I asked my bike shop what to do, and they suggested this method, which works for me: Take off tyre, clean around hole very well, sand a little. Put glue. light it, blow it out, light it, blow it out and so on. Apparently helps the vulcanisation. Put normal patch over hole. Put tyre back on, top up sealant and inflate. Bit of a mission, but at least it's a permanent solution.

  21. Ja, it was a nice day. Unfortunately I had a puncture. Was riding with the leaders at the time but I suspect they would have beaten me anyway because that's what happened at the last one. Just cruised my 2nd lap after that. Nice Jaffle at the finish. Thanks very much to the Queens guy in about 7th place who lent me his bomb and adaptor. I looked for you at the finish but couldn't see you. If anyone knows who I'm talking about, please could you put me in touch so I can give him some money for the bomb and adaptor?
  22. Another excellent reason not to buy this machine
  23. Beautiful? I'd describe it as loud, obnoxious and curved in all the wrong places. Give me the groupset, wheels (sans logos) and you can keep the rest.
  24. If this isn't a joke I reckon it's probably a good thing for Campy to have an Asian owner, although the diehard Italians would be distraught. However, if the buyer is Shimano it'll be bad for competition and hence prices. Would the authorities allow such a purchase? Any global competition law experts on the hub?
