  1. Many will tell you that I don't need the Morph suit!
  2. This race gets better each year. I crashed plenty times. Fortunately nothing serious. There is an art to riding the tunnel. I crashed once in there, and then a bit later heard the guys behind me hit the deck.
  3. Anyone else get a dodgy batch SMS just now? Apparently my name is Wawrick and I'm starting in E batch.
  4. You can't make this sh** up. Just when you think the Epic has rid itself of the unsavoury Evans/George combo they spring this surprise on us.
  5. TheOldC**tBiker (why does it keep doing that?) has been hammering hard on Twitter about my relationship with Moneyweb. I don't really believe he is so dim-witted to think Moneyweb shares all of my opinions. Thus, I can only assume he is attacking what he perceives to be my livelihood. What I find fascinating is how muted Brandon is in his condemnation of Kevin's behaviour. Let's take the most flattering scenario: Kevin saw first-hand how David's actions harmed the sport and hurt his team mates. Yet despite this he raced without a TUE, knowing he could get popped and do the same harm. I stress that this is the most flattering scenario. My suspicion is that the truth is much less flattering. Oh, and apparently I'm a "well known cycling web forum troll". Did you guys know this?
  6. There is a space to ask difficult questions or make uncomfortable observations, which does not amount to whistle-blowing but certainly goes some way towards shining a light on this behaviour. If you do though, don't be surprised if you get a lawyer's letter paid for (belatedly) by some fanboi with deep pockets.
  7. Interesting to see the Chemical Brothers and their groupies attacking Darren like that on Instagram. They should all be ashamed of themselves. Sadly, I don't think shame is something that comes easily to any of them.
  8. Spidey, you and I must be doing different races. I've been racing sub-vets for five years. Been on the podium multiple times, even at SA champs, and I've only ever been tested once - at 94.7 one year. And that was just urine. So I think a vet who wanted to blood dope could do it without any fear of getting popped. But I agree with you; the money is better spent on testing the elites and u23.
  9. The guy is a medical marvel.
  10. Carbon boy you stirring k*k here bru! My fork lost air. Probably an o-ring or something that needs replacing. Shouldn't happen to a new fork, but there you go. It's not the Pyga. The Pyga is f***ing awesome.
  11. Some of you will know I am the insanely lucky winner of the best African bike, the Pyga Stage. I promised to post some pics here when I take delivery. The bike just arrived at The Trailhead. Here's a taste of things to come: So much excitement!
  12. Thanks Paul. Not as light though! Hope you enjoying that pony.
  13. Thanks awesme! As soon as I take delivery I'm gonna flood that thread with pics.
  14. Thanks everyone. Man, I'm excited to get this bike out on some trails soon.
  15. That's me, and I wouldn't hold your breath mate.
  16. Anyone know if there is seeding for this race?
  17. Eldron, not sure of the year. Thanks LC, will check it out.
  18. My Bianchi with 7400 Dura Ace. Can anyone help me identify the frame model?
  19. The rivnuts came with the tool which I bought at the Tool Shop in Randburg. It was the last one they had in stock, but they are ordering more. There are no notches on the collar, but I think there is plenty of grip. I made them as tight as I dared. One of the reasons I took on this project was that the existing rivnuts that came with the frame had become loose, so I used the tool to tighten those up as well.
  20. My On One Scandal only came with mounts for one bottle cage, which I found annoying. So I thought I'd try a DIY mount on the seat tube and share my experience with fellow Hubbers. Tools required: centre punch, drill, 3.5mm drill bit, miniature file set, rivnut tool, M5 rivnuts. First I marked where I wanted to put the holes. It is worth taking some time thinking about this. You want the cage low enough to get the bottle in and out, but not so low that you can't fit the rivnut tool in. I used a centre punch to make small indentations in the frame. This ensured the drill bit didn't slip. You need a 7mm hole for an M5 rivnut to fit. I enlarged my 3.5mm hole with a small file. I used the file because this helped ensure the hole was perfectly in the centre of the seat tube. It also made access easier in the close confines of the frame's triangle: It took about 5 minutes of careful filing to get the hole big enough. Then it was time to install the rivnut. The rivnuts installed: And the bottle cages on:
  21. Good to see you JC. Actually I was second in VA; there was another oke just up the road. I had a 46:15 which was perfect. Time was 2:29. I was on skinny tyres though, Did another half a lap afterward and hooked up with some of the MTB SSers, including Tim Henman and Thug. Lekker stop at Fournos Dunkeld for refreshments and then home. Good day out.
  22. It was the Lab dude, Kallen. He was using Usher's number, which is probably why Usher appears as the winner. Not sure if Kallen was riding with a chip or not.
  23. I see Drug Free Sport has posted its 2012 annual report. You can download it here: http://www.drugfreesport.org.za/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/anual_report2012.pdf The report makes for interesting reading. For example, out of 61 dopers busted, four were cyclists. There were no big names caught (DG came later). The cyclists are: Russel Lund - methandienone - two years Enzo Lezzi - norandrosterone and Noreticholanolone - 15 months Jaco Rheeder - Methamphetamine - two years Wayne Collin - Boldenone (something) Hydrochlorothiazide (?) - hearing still to take place Road cyclists are tested more often (175 times, 23 for EPO) than mountain bikers (66 times, 10 for EPO). Cannabis seems to be quite a popular drug amongst sportsman, and results in a 2-4 month suspension.
  24. http://results.racetec.co.za/results_by_event.aspx?RID=3929&EN=Sun%2011%2F11%2F2012%20Momentum%2094.7%20Mountain%20Bike%20Challenge%20%2855km%29 For a race of this calibre, more should have been done to keep riders on the right course.
  25. I haven't seen the results but I have an idea where the A8s went wrong. There was a section, just by the Gautrain, where you could take a big short-cut if you weren't careful. The group I was with took the short-cut by mistake, but luckily Morne realised we were wrong, so we doubled back and did the full route. I think the short-cut would have cut out about 10km.
