  1. I'm in A for the MTB off at 07:00 and also DL for the road off at 07:05.
  2. Wind is giving it a fair go today, but I wouldn't worry about the rain, looks like the predictions are for thunderstorms and those usually happen in the afternoon. Doing both mtb and road again this year, but I haven't been on a bike for 3 weeks, so it is going to hurt and will have to pace carefully on Saturday. For Sunday I might just sacrifice myself at the front as long as possible and TT it in.
  3. Clem Morris. RIP.
  4. My first swim was after a 4 month lay-off. Swam 450m, took a breather for 1min and swam another 300m. Yes, the shoulders/chest/triceps/lats did hurt a bit but not too bad. Have only done 3 swims since then and I'm already back on a 1.2km continuous swim (pool). No great pace but I manage. Must say, 6min/km is my goal time and I achieve it in training doing brickruns. Suffered at IMSA though this year...Never got near it!!!
  5. I find that you (me) pick up the swimming very quickly after a lay-off. Bike is not an issue as I normally do races throughout the year. It is getting into running again that I struggle with, but then, I don't like running and am not very fast (6min/km).
  6. Boks by 11.
  7. There are swim schools at the Virgin Active I go to, will get some numbers for you if you like or just pop into the one at the showgrounds. Are you settled in? Were you at the mtb(dirtroad) ride on Monday?
  8. Hi Francois, check out the Bloemfontein thread in Chit Chat. There are links to rides (there is a road race this weekend with various distances) as well as all the Hubbers doing rides etc.
  9. You've got a point!!! By the way, if it is the same 35km route as they had 2 years ago at the 'Omi-dam' event I don't reckon it is that tough. Did the longer one that year and we rode the 35 as part of our route, not too bad.
  10. Luckily Aldam is not IN or actually near Welkom!!!
  11. Sounds good, I should be there.
  12. I've been cycling for almost 3 years now (weekend warrior) and have only ever ridden my 26 HT. Have not even test-ridden a friends' 29er or any DS. I think I'm too scared that it will be great and make me want one...What do you guys reckon
  13. I think Dangle has done Atta with a rigid SS, Crater Cruise must be a funride for him...
  14. Thanks for the update...Will have to catch the highlights tonight!!!
  15. Contador to attack on the 2nd CAT1 climb or will he wait untill the last climb?

    RHCP

Probably my best concert day ever (although one or two Coke Fests came close). 80 000 people, open venue, great weather, 12 hours. Coldplay just started out, concert was sort of the 20 year anniversary of U2 playing there and opening for Thin Lizzy or something. Another act on the day included Kelis (how the organisers saw her fitting in the lineup I don't know).

    RHCP

Saw them at Slane Castle (Dublin) in 2001, them and Coldplay opened for U2 Great live act.
  18. As per my post
  19. Hope you heal up soon!!! When I go running or cycling I make sure I have my ICE-Id on me. Got one after taking a tumble on my mtb some years back, I was lying in the veld, winded and unable to move.
  20. Yup, Terry sorted me out here in Bloem, have not had much experience with other suits but I am very happy with my Xterra suit and you can't beat them for service
  21. Same thing happened to us last year, no roosterbrood when we arrived at CP1 (messed up the race quite a bit for one of our teammates as he was banking on food here).
  22. Yip, go MTB first. I did a couple of road races with the mtb (mainly do mtb) and then decided to get a roadbike to keep up with the bunches more comfortably. Bought it 2nd hand here on the Hub from Mad Mike!!!
  23. Very true. I have made peace with the fact that my age / knee problems and talent level will get met to mid-pack at best, at my fittest. Luckily I've also been blessed with loads of mental fitness and a never-give-up attitude.
  24. I hate that last climb after CP7, bites me every time.
