  1. ActionPhoto took the 'official' photo's, will probably be up this week as they have already created the event on their page. Well done on finishing, I know what 22hrs feels like, did that last year when we had loads of mechanicals and falls.
  2. Cyclotech in Northridge Mall, speak to Hannes.
  3. Think the start will be chilly (4) and warm up nicely through the day. Don't think it will be as cold as last year.
  4. Think the automatic DQ only applied when you passed a rider while going outside the markers.
  5. With the amount of watercrossings the 'take-off-put-on' sock routine will probably add at least an hour to your time.
  6. Yip, substition is allowed. We had to do it last year, think it was a R50 'admin fee' though.
  7. Well, you will have nothing to compare it with...In short, Langs is tougher but you will not have done anything different training-wise, so nothing to worry about
  8. Looks like the winter and colds hit hard this year...Looks like our one teammate also pulling out.
  9. Tonight - Making a lekker kerrie and watching the Olympics opener. Saturday - Meeting in the morning and then plan a 100km on the mtb, Trans training. Sunday - 40km or so relaxed ride.
  10. I've never used it, have done plenty of 7hr plus rides and a couple of Trans rides (one of 22hrs). Will it make a big difference / what does it actually do?
  11. Has anybody been in the kloof over the weekend? How does it look?
  12. Why in your opinion does it suck more? As you say, it is definately more climbing and the mud up that climb(walk) made it doube miserable. Last year was super tough, we were the last full/complete team to finish through various reasons...But for me its all about the adventure and 'cameraderie', so I guess from a pure cycling perspective the normal route is better, but for me it doesn't matter what route we ride.
  13. I don't think the route itself is more 'mislik' than the normal route, rather the cold and mud that made it more so?
  14. Time to beat is 52:21 by Cancellara, 01:19 ahead of Martin.
  15. Chavanel 6 seconds behind Cancellara at 1st check.
  16. Cancellara 1:09 ahead of Martin at second check!!!
  17. I have had mine for roughly 3 years now. Originally bought it for a Peugeot hatch and currently use it on my Subaru. Have also used it on various other cars. Very sturdy and as you say very adjustable. As always with this type of rack, take very good care when loading bikes (especially 3) and make sure that no bits are touching or might be once you start moving...Very happy with mine!

    2012 Ironman

Agree, I had to check my 'markers' alot more on the 2nd lap than the first. Also felt like I was going nowhere at times. Remember that last stretch to the beach...kept looking at the pier and it just didn't seem to move!

Yip, its the guy who normally races with his son who has cerebral palsy. Paul Wolff didn't want him to ride the bike with him(too dangerous) but they did finish together, finished pushing his son along just before I dragged myself across the line.

    2012 Ironman

Thanks!!! My cousin manned one of the rescue boats. He reckons that about 100 people didn't finish the swim, some being pulled by the boats and others just walking out after the 1st lap. There were some people who missed the cut-off as well. I was amased at the number of bikes still in the racks after I passed transition during my first bike lap. From what I could gather it was the slowest swim and bikes for the pro's on record. The support along the route was amazing considering the weather.

    2012 Ironman

Was my 1st one and what an initiation into the world of triathlon!!! Swim went ok but the 2nd lap was really rough, loads of people pulled from the sea... Bike was really tough against a gale SW wind, was doing 7km/h up some of the hills. Left knee took serious strain. Furthest I've run before this was one 40km. Left knee 'went' on first run lap and I dragged myself along the course. It was super cold and with the wind driving the rain along. Managed to cross the finishline in 15.50. Definately the medal I've worked the hardest for in my life!!! Well done to each and everyone who finished!

I don't look at the weather forecast. Nothing you can do about it in any case. It only stresses you out or give you false hope...Get up on Sunday and race what you get. Starting to get that excited/nervous feeling now...
