  2. Maybe we are seeded in the same bunch and can help each other. I will need it...
Hoop hy kom gou reg!
  4. Seeding will only happen next week, probably only Thursday or so.
  5. Very true, it is important to get into a strong group and stay there until you hit the N1 (after about 15km). From here it is a relative free ride until you come back into town which is at about 60-65km. There are a couple of 'rollers' on the N1 and the wind can play havoc as well. Albrecht gets steep but is short. When you hit the N1 again there is a drag from about 92km which is about 5km long. It is usually quite hot when you get here and people who managed to hang on till here might still be dropped...
  6. Very true! I'm not that strong yet, did a 3.18 last year from D batch but was at the back of the pen and couldn't catch the front guys(not making excuses) so TT'd quite a bit and hooked up with some of the remaining D guys and some C's. Hope you het your 3 hours!
  7. When last did you ride it Garf? Hills still at the beginning or did you ride in the last 2 years? Must say hitting them towards the end makes a bit of a difference.
  8. Apologies for the bad quality...My bike took me to the world's shortest signpost on Saturday
  9. Very true, if you stay anywhere in Bloem you can ride to the start. I also recommend doing the mtb race the day before, it is also vfast with a nice section over Brandkop towards the end and helps in warming up the legs for the road race.
  10. Yip, in 2009 you did all your climbing at the start. Now most of it comes after about 75-80km plus there is that long drag almost at the end. Much better and testing route I think.
  11. Yes.
  12. Will be there, doing both the mtb and road races again. I like the fact that they are on consecutive days unlike the bigger events where it is held on different weekends.
  13. New sponsor: Mangaung Metro.
  14. I might have missed him but did Wiggo ride the TTT? Don't think he did... But Martin and FC did lots of work helping their teams. Fatigue to play a role?
  15. From the beach and around the pier to the 6 pack ('old harbour area you are referring to) and back is around 1.2k I think. Most people swim this route.
  16. Yip, SS had it on, was same time as Vuelta I think. Can't remember which channel.
  17. Well done that is an awesome time. I battle to manage 6min/km over ten on the road so that on a trail run, huge respect!!! Guess you did pay for it on the mtb a bit... Ja, it definitely is one of the toughest around and the heat didn't help. I agree, also love these type of events for the 'endurance' and 'suffer' factor and definitely helps build the mental side of things.
  19. Hey Garf, how did you go on the run and how did you find the technical difficulty on the mtb?
Sal 'n lekker dag uitstappie maak.
  21. Thanks George, I wish you all the best for your other events currently running and everything you are still planning. I think this event in particular have been plagued by 'bad luck' and other issues in the past as well but I feel stuff like route marking should be the first point of concern and is something that can be 'controlled'. As mentioned in my earlier post the placing of the water points on a route should surely make a bit more sense than on Saturday. All the best.
  23. How unfit can you be? The Baviaans was 2 weeks ago and you rode a sub-14/13 hours or something... But I will be at the back of the field to keep you company in any case. Heavy training week for me so legs will not have much left come Saturday.
  24. I actually enjoyed watching the XCE. Reckon it might be best suited as a spectator friendly format, but I think it has been discussed before.
  25. Yip looks like you guys are having an event every weekend! Is there perhaps a camping / self catering option?
