  4. Nee wat sal dit nie so noem nie. Mens raak gewoond aan die lang afstande en tyd op die bene. Ek ry altwee want dit is lekker afstand oefening vir Ironman. Dis vir my 2 training rides eerder as 2 races.
  5. Glad nie. Die singlespeed is 'n challenge met die opdraende(alhoewel hy baie lekker klim) maar die hoofdoel vir my is die 'eenvoud'. Hy is natuurlik ook baie lig en kos my niks met maintenance nie. Net nou en dan bietjie lube. Ek race nie maar is daar om dit te geniet.

  7. Dink daar was laasjaar 3 groepe vir die 65km en daarna begin die groepe vir die korte.

  13. Just got my sms, CL starting at 07:00. Presume this is for road.
  14. Do it. I road my first road race with my mtb as is. Got very frustrated not being able to keep up. Bought a 2nd hand roadbike on thehub for under R5k and have never looked back(still ride mtb mainly). My 2005 Rellie has even completed 2 x Ironman with slapon TT bars.
  15. Ek sal volunteer om net langs jou te ry en die heeltyd 'hou jou lyn' te skree en jou so te beskerm.
  16. Wel op die stadium dink ek ook eerder aan die 3.15 na 3.30 kant toe. Het Maandag en Dinsdag redelik ingesit met draf en swem intervals en gym. Gistermiddag/aand na werk 18km gaan draf en toe 'n paar wyne gevat. My bene is bietjie op. Het beplan om vandag nog redelik te oefen maar gaan dalk net 'n swem doen. Sal verseker die mtb Saterdag rustig vat al ry ek hom op die singlespeed (eintlik goed want ek spin baie meer) en dan sien hoe lyk Sondag, afhangende soos Garfield se van die groep. Ek is elke jaar laterig by die begin so begin gewoonlik heel agter in die groep en moet myself dan breek aan die begin om by 'n ok groep uit te kom of val dan maar in by die voorste ouens van die groep na my.

  18. I got caught on a training ride a couple of years back. Open stretch of road with nowhere to hide. Storm swept in quickly and before I knew it I was being pelted with hail, some even cutting some skin on my forearms. Amazing how amplified the sound is when it hits you on the helmet. After the first couple of lightning strikes close by I tried to 'hide' in a stormwater drainpipe running underneath the road but wasn't big enough. Cycled a bit further and got to a shop where I waited it out. Was awesome!!!

  20. I've been keeping my swimming fairly up to par, doing 2-3 sessions a week with the avg at about 2km per session. Running, whats that? I'm averaging about 20km per week with my longest run being 16km at present. Bike is ok but have been doing mainly mtb rides since IMSA but some good distance. Mmmm...we will have to see how things go but I am keen to join a group if I can keep up.
  21. Yip I was definitely in DL. 3.18 so we would possibly be 'holding you back'. I'm actually not quite sure where I am. As mentioned I do the mtb as well (good distance for IMSA prep) so am a bit fatigued when it gets to the Sunday. Thought you were doing Erfenis Dam Tri?

  23. Altwee is nie so kwaai nie. Die mtb roete is redelik vinnig en goeie 'opwarming' vir die volgende dag. Gaan hom die jaar op my SS doen. Ja, soos jy se, enigiets kan op die dag gebeur...
  24. Regso. Daai tyd behoort heel doenbaar te wees. Ek is ook nie so sterk nie, het 3.18 verlede jaar gery met die mtb ook in my bene. Ry die afgelope 4 jaar altwee, lekker oefening.
