  1. Good to hear that there are some more people who will arrive just in time for Mevrou Sweetcorn Weather Report, apparently bucketing down in Frankfort...looking forward to some dirty fun
  2. Will keep a lookout for you guys, will definately only be at the start, plan to ride rustig and enjoy the scenery and hopefully a potato or two along the way...Will be in Ruwacon (RWC) kit...
  3. Mmmm, with all these nice machines around I'm sure gonna stick out on my alu hardtail
  4. Wanted to register online yeasterday(know I had till 17.00) but they closed entries early...Will sort out Saturday morning. Spoke to Craig, looks like there's about 160 riders at this point, not bad considering Clarens also on...
  5. Mmmm you're right, just haven't done any real distance in a while and I think its gonna be quite hot, treating it as a ride rather than a race...
  6. Some lots of up and down in this then...bit more worried now...
  7. Mmmm, looks like I'll also be making the trip up from Bloem for the 90...Worried, haven't done more than 65km on the mtb since TBaviaans
  8. Mtb at least twice a month or after every long/dirty ride. Road about twice a year or after I've ridden in the rain..
  9. +1 You're gonna get about a 100 different answers...
  10. Who would you Bloemfonteiners say is the best service wise, as in servicing a bike?
  11. With you on that Agent! I should have mentioned them in my original post. I alternate between them and Hannes at Cyclotech. Jean was a champion during Baviaans last year. He 'loaned' us about R1500's worth of spares to take with. What we used we paid for when we got back
  12. Experienced great service from Cyclotech here in Bloem yesterday...Took back 2 wireless cycling computers(one bought about 15months ago and the other about 9 months ago) as they were giving me some problems(resetting when pressing a button on the one and the other not picking up the signal). Granted, no high-level stuff and cost about R280 each...No questions asked, they gave me 2 new(different make) units and although about R100 more expensive each did not want to take my money... Which LBS in your city/region is best?
  13. Depends on the individual as always...I make a point to greet everyone I happen to encounter whether its running or cycling(mtb & road). Just makes me happier
  14. Road - Miguel Indurain & Marco 'Il Pirata' Pantani MTB - Burry
  15. Have now been cycling a year, first race was OFM Classic on my mtb, since then...Did my 1st Argus, finished my first Transbaviaans, and shaved an hour of my time on the OFM Classic(this time on a road bike) after doing the 65km mtb on the Saturday
  16. You might still get them, obviously terrain dependant, but I can honestly say that I haven't had one in about 14 months...Benefit is also in the pressure you can run,you can generally get away with lower pressures.
  17. Agree with all of the above!!! Not sure about specific weight saving on tubeless but surely beats the heck out of fixing punctures and running through spare tubes during a race...
  18. Thats definately not the largest size to my knowledge...but sounds right for you. First 'upgrade' if you haven't done that is to go tubeless. Will probably help with the weight a bit as well. I use bar-ends, just offers a different option to put your hand on those loooong rides. Don't listen to what some might tell you, you CAN put bar-ends on riser bars
  19. Very true Eldron, have always wondered about that, some people seem to race from one section of the lot to the next...
  20. Caught the back-end of a conversation on 5FM this morning,40mil was spent on some African Youth Conference and the main issue discussed was 'imperialism', like thats whats troubling us...
  21. The way people speed in residential areas really boggles the mind. Was out running yesterday morning in my neighbourhood, and a dude in a Merc came past me doing about 120km/h. This morning, coming back from a cycle a Ford Focus ST screamed past me also going about a 100. Granted, it is early morning and all, but still...
  22. Had one when I was just getting used to cleats, lay down in front of the gate to the driveway. Mate of mine had a lie down last year on the start line at the OFM Classic. Starter was trying to get everyone going asking which rugby team they supported. He was the only chop chucking both hands in the air(was holding onto me) when shouting Eastern Province!!! Broke the tension (and his ego) for sure
  23. Thanks Marius & Eugene, that makes heaps of sense. As you said, don't wanna spend money on something I'm gonna use a couple of times a year at most.
  24. Hi guys, did you try the seatpost reversal or go for another option? Anybody else out there, any suggestions on this? Also don't have the bucks to get a TT bike and was looking to swop out my existing seatpost with a 'TT seatpost' and use that together with the TT bars. Any comments?
