    Saris Bones

I've had mine for a year now and have had no problems. Have used it on 3 different cars, driven it on rough farm roads and over 1000km distances loaded with 3 bikes!!! Agree with all posts above about scratching etc. Make sure the feet is clean and you won't have any problems...haven't had any indentations.
  2. Mmmm, not that I know of, will see if I can drive past there this afternoon...
  3. Karakoram is the full name of K2, the most dangerous 8000m plus peak...What that has to do with a 29er only GT will know
  4. I've got a Saris Bones 3 which I use on my hatchback, but they can fit almost any vehicle. Excellent rack, give it a look. Bicycle Power Trading are the agents in SA.
  5. I'll also go for the 'Back, but then I'm biased, also ride a Sierra
  6. To me too technical is when I'm pushing my bike for an hour instead of riding it during a 70km for example. This is fine if its only me and I've only got myself to blame as my skills are lacking, if its the whole race I think its a bit much...I'm not into mtb to race though so I can't complain, only do races as it gives me a chance to ride where I've never been, nothing beats the feeling of being outside on your bike!!!
  7. They were all pretty shaken up, my cousin mentioned that riding the 1.5km back to where they started was pure torture...
  8. They usually train together with 'Mansgenoeg' shirts, sometimes green, sometimes brown. Other guys include Brink Eksteen, Charl van der Merwe, Henk de Jager, Ockert Fourie, Pieter Pretorius, Johan Kruger.
  9. His name is Ray, unfortunately all I know. I know all the other guys very well.Happened near Charlo Primary this morning round about 5.
  10. Had a call from my cousin in P.E. this morning, one of a group of 8 guys training for IMSA was hit by a car this morning on a training ride. Please keep him, his family and the rest of the guys in 'Mansgenoeg' in your thoughts and prayers, he is currently in hospital being operated on. Bad damage to his leg, concussed but stable. Please guys, lets be safe out there. Details not clear but it sounds like he was at fault. Tried to cross over to the other side of the road when he heard the car coming from behind, at the same instant that the car decided to pass them by going into the opposite lane...
  11. Sad news indeed. Has there been a marked increase in these incidents or are we all just more tuned to it and its getting more/quicker exposure?
  12. I was thinking the exact same thing, going to take the mtb next year and go for at least 8 hours, couple of pub stops included / visiting all the waterpoints and maybe a pre-finish meal at panarottis or something...
  13. Came in at 4.43 from ZZ, didn't train nearly enough, guess one 85km training ride and some spinning just doesn't cut it but still enjoyed myself a lot, the slow pace I was going at after Smits made the view so much better...
  14. Agree, I only saw one guy in my starting group wearing one(granted I started in ZZ)...Most of the guys on here probably finished by then...
  15. Was my 1st Argus as well, what an awesome experience!!! Most beautiful scenery one can ask for and crowd support to match. This will be penned into my calender for many years to come...
  16. Sounds like a good deal, seeing is believing though...

  18. Easy solution, do everything, moan with everybody
  19. Theres a drop-down box where you can change this...Just under the topic.
  20. Rode my first competitive road and mtb race last year. Do not want to generalize, but the 'vibe' at the mtb event and road event differed a lot, with the mtb one being more relaxed & friendly than the road one. Sure, I encountered some rude riders in the mtb event but not nearly as many as in the road race. Mtb riders just seems more tolerant/friendly/helpful during a race...
  21. I agree with all that has been said about spinning. Think one must try to find a balance. Due to time constraints I do one 45min spin & one 90 min spin a week(with the instructors I like and who mixes it up, i.e. sprints, strength work,'rolling hills'), 2 cross training sessions a week(weight training to improve overall strength) and on Saturday/Sunday I hit the road/dirt.

  23. Talking of runways' date=' did you know we have a runway in SA (in mafikeng) thats almost 5km long? Heard somewhere that its a alternate landing strip for the space shuttle if they miss their entry point. We had a skydiving boogie there once, that thing is huge, cool to see from the air[/quote'] You're correct on the above, longest in the southern hemisphere that one. Think there's one in Langebaan thats also extra long.
  24. Think it can carry more than 800 if I'm not mistaken...
  25. Its a difficult one, I would personally give the guy who 'dibs' / offers to buy first preference, but sometimes you also stand the risk of the guy pulling out, and you turned away guys with the cash ready...Guess it will come down to 'Cash is King' with the first one in, taking away the blingWow thats some lame rhyming.
