  1. Quicker than i expected, took less sanding than the fork. Easy to not sand too deep. Will do remaining decals, then move to higher grit. Im not sure what will happen in the filler (black) areas, but will just see what happens
  2. Thats right, ive been told to never use paint stripper on carbon. You get a product called carbo lift designed for that, but its very expensive to get in sa
  3. If i decide to do commit ill weigh the frame before and after
  4. Really depends on the frame and how thick the paint was, but apparently anywhere from 100 to 250g, but then most people will recoat (with something lighter) and it will put some weight back. Im not doing it for weight though, just think it will look cool.
  5. Ive started with the fork, just wet sanded till the black residue. Feels and sounds different, if i dont sand till the black residue theres still clear coat. Didnt go through the top layer anywhere, seemed easy enough. I will tape off the carbon section and spray the metallic crown a colour close to carbon. Now for the frame, still a bit nervous. Still dont know if i should just sand lightly and then buff to make the clear coat nice again, or all the way through to raw carbon like i actually want to. The fork seemed very doable, but im not sure how different the fork and frame were manufactured. Raleigh fork with leggera frame.
  6. That looks cool! Was that painted before or clear coat? Ive heard that carbon frames and parts that are painted over often have quite messy carbon weave since they dont care about how it looks under. That swirly look is nice though i like it. If i sand too deep in an area and expose the 2nd layer i might as well do it all over, create some patterns. But ideally i still want a nice even finish
  7. Ive got an old leggera carbon road bike and im in the process of building it up. Its not a bad looking frame, but the decals are just ruining it for me. The frame as visible carbon throughout, with leggera decals under the clear coat. I want to embark on the tedious journey of sanding through the clear coat to get the decals off, but im still hesitatant - i dont want to ruin it. I understand that if i sand through the top carbon layer it will look terrible and theres no going back from there. So 2 questions. 1, has anyone here done this before and is it easy to accidentally sand too deep? And 2, do i absolutely need a new clear coat, or could i give it a wax coating with car wax every couple of weeks?
  8. If youre willing to spend top dollar i wouldn't really consider anything else but the sony and the bose. The sony is basically better in every regard except for weight and comfort, where the bose takes first place. Both are excellent in all regards but the bose will just be slightly better for really long sessions like overseas flights. If youre not gonna use them for over like 4 hours at a time id just get the sony. The bose design is a little bit dated by now, for example still using micro usb charging as opposed to usb c.
  9. I know it has surely been asked on here before but i cant find the definitive answer. Will running an 11 spd chain (kmc chain) on a 10 spd sram drivetrain be better, same or worse than running a 10 spd chain? Ive read online that you actually get smoother and quieter shifting, but those results seem to all be from the roadies. Does the same apply to mtb? Anyone have experience doing this?
  10. With the intent to shift between them? An oval would be a narrow wide ring, which you can't shift off or onto, correct me if im wrong anyone
  11. Does the continuous cable housing make a noticeable difference? Why do most bikes have segmented ones?
  12. Im running 11-42 on my xo medium cage, and theres no way it will handle a bigger cog. Not sure how the goat link will change that though.
  13. Need a 165,40 rear shock at a reasonable price.. Nothing on the current classifieds
  14. Definitely worth a try, he might have been stupid enough to use his real details. Go to the police and they can get his details from standard bank and track him. They can only give out details to the police.
  15. Hes left 15 negative reviews on your profile, try contact an admin to have them removed, i see his account has already been deactivated. Was only created today as well. He sounds cooked - looking at his dm to you and his 15 reviews.
  16. Damn, what a lucky girl. Hope she enjoys it. Is that frame alu or carbon? Cant see any welds.
  17. I cant see how that will actually help. The info you use to create an account can be completely seperate from the alias you use to scam. The guy could be one of us posting here for all we know. Its very easy to get a sim card thats not rica'd to your name, so its literally impossible to get caught. Some scammers even go through the effort to get bank accounts with fake info. Pair that with some knowledge about what you're "selling" and sound trustworthy (unlike the pathetic oil rig scan attempt), and its just a numbers game. The more people you try the more will fall for it. These guys will never get caught, but the best you can do is have common sense. The people that do get scammed learn a hard lesson. But yeah, it feels so **** if it happens to you, and its unfair. Ive had a few close encounters.
  18. What ad is it? Profile?
  19. Does he only respond to wanted ads or does he post? If so where did he post an ad?
  20. Very sorry to hear man. Dont know if its your cup of tea, but really check out the effects of cannabis. More and more studies have shown that both cbd and thc really does help slow down or reverse tumor growth (colon cancer is on the list). Its definitely worth looking into. My uncle had cancer that had progressed rather far, and after using cannabis oil since diagnoses he has been in remission for around 5 or 6 years now. Im obviously not saying its a miracle cure, but ive definitely been somewhat swayed of my skepticism after checking it out.
  21. How did it happen? Did you e wallet him?..
  22. Damn, i remember seeing that black carbon anthem, that went for a bargain, i missed out.
  23. Damn, thats clean. I love the look of the seatpost, can the height be adjusted? If so how??
  24. Did he have any excuses for not providing any of the info you asked for? His whatsapp is one of the dead giveaways. If scammers have whatsapp their status is usually the "hey there im using whatsapp" and its from recently meaning they created the whatsapp account recently. Mr opperman created his 6 days ago. And profile pic straight from the internet. Pity theres no way to catch these people.
  25. True.. But pretty bad luck if you're tryjng to sell 2 trail 5s right now considering theyre not the makro spec. Wonder why he's got 2 brand new ones.. But yeah either way for 10k they wont sell.
