  1. man I feel pain for any one whose bike is damaged. And written off is even worse! Insurance hassles. Bodily pains. Replacement costs.
  2. could not do the race as was up in durbs but from what i have heard from friends the finish was the most dangerous ever. safety first? or last ?
  3. diep in the *** as it were.
  4. is anyone out there a fire fighter? AND RIDES bike? on or off road? Can we make a SA firefighters bike riders coalition? We CAN HAVE ALOT of power
  5. recue me. anyone out there every watch it? on DSTV? Tommy Gavin.
  6. cannot recomend off road routes as not a mtb rider - but - for pure exitment try setting off on a ride during the summer fire season on table mountain - wait till the smoke is so thick you cannot even see your helmet lid then set off at full speed down a new and unkown trail. after all they all end up somewhere in the deer park area/cape town bo-kaap area. I mean whats the worst that can happen? Really? No one has ever died in a mountain fire. Ok - so there were one or two but hey they were not on a mountain bike...! Stupid walkers! CTFD always at you service.firewolf2010-01-20 15:08:16
  7. work out your opening price then work from there. but there will always be a bike that thows you out ot budget
  8. it just about seing a potential new ride. One that fires the imagination. road. off road. downhill, singletrack. a new climb. wat the surface is is not so important. it just that sensation of "Oh my God look at that miles and miles of new riding route." firewolf2010-01-20 14:16:09
  9. ok. It may not just be tar' it may be offroad too. The point is - maybe you driving in a car and you lookout of the window right? And then your eyes just kinda glaze over as they settle on the sight of a road, far of in the distance, that seems to snake away over the horizon - and it looks like it might go on forever - it could be tar or dirt - and it has sharp turns, small rises, quick humps, decents, a few longinsh looking climbs, and it looks like a totally inviting, never ending ribbon of ridable surface made for exploration on two wheels and that will fill your soul with hours of fun and fill your legs with hours of lactic. Kinda like looking out at the sea with a perfect offshore and a cranking left hander over a shallow reef with nio-one out.firewolf2010-01-20 14:05:11
  10. wear a lid. simple
  11. ok. I may be going out on a limb here. BUT... Have any of you out there ever looked down at an expanse of road that stretches out for many kilometeres below you; and out over the nearest horizon; and seems to invite you and your wheels to ride, for an unbelievable amount of distance, over a perfect ribbon of black tar? Is this the roadie version of a oasis? Like a perfect track of smooth black tar made for nothing more that pure tempo riding for like one hundred fifty kay min? I believe that we all experiance this - the perfect black ribbon of riding potential effect - and have dreamed of spending 10 hours justy riding from pount A to point B. Help me out here if I am just tar/distance drunk. ( and no for once firewolf is actually not really drunk) Respect
  12. if you can carry it in you can carry it out. Leave only footprints, take only photographs. BUT! Understand that some dumb f**ks will always be crashing, throwing, burning, dying from cars along cycling routes. Just be greatfull they did not hit you. Please challenge me on my rational here - like what do I know about trauma? Ha Ha. thank my higher power for a bike. respect to all who still brave the mad roads of south africa on a daily basis. we are united in our need for...? firewolf2010-01-19 12:03:15
  13. cradle suxs man! I don't even know where it is, but I sure don't ever wanna put my bike on it's roads. Or my body. What part of the country is this place in? Like a backwater place or what?
  14. Columbian marching powder - perhaps it's the new pedal power? But drugs will never be long term cool. At least not for the addict.
  15. I find I have a better ride when I "Happy Train."
  16. Last time I was so pissed I wrote something and posted it. Then, when I read it a day later I couldnt understand wtf I was trying to get at. But at the time it made sense.
  17. this kind of equipment failure is super serious! It can be fatal! And the fact that it happened with no warning is so damm dangerous. If it were me I would make a very big deal about it.. letters and pics to manufacturer/dealer, letters to bike mags, etc.
  18. a mechi at the place that I work explained that the average male hand will produce more than the required torque even when "toning" down the percieved required amount. Especially SA okes right? I am aiming to get a torque wrench soon.
  19. one nut wif a sheet load o buks.how you think he will do in the upcoming tour down under? and can he win an 8th tour?
  20. who's a one nut?
  21. and check out the belly on that soccer dude!
  22. Isnt it strange that the man can save lives, has dedicated vast amounts of time and energy to saving lives, can perform miracles inside the comfort zone of an emergency ward; but becomes a carazed egolamaniac behind the wheel of a car; perfectly able, and more than willing, to take lives? Life is wierd like that sometimes.
  23. so maybe the cost of a torque wrench is not so bad after all? I don't as yet have one. Always thought I must get one. Especially with all the carbon tubes on seatpots, bars, etc.
  24. we need dedicated, seperated, bike lanes. How many deaths is this going to take?
  25. watched the high life DVD last week (Robert Miller) in which they show them on a training ride on these narrow, car free lanes that seem to criscross the countryside in the UK region. Man those lanes look good!
