  1. So much to do so little time. KoTAS fired the first shots. Some unknown YT'er called Pure Savage only the third best Professional amateur funriders in the city. Mother withered in the onslaught leaving La Pearla's vets to take up the challenge. Rumour has it they will be riding new frames made by Zimmer. Lets see. Who will take it this year. Will the mixed victory go to a team with 3 identifiers or real women......and what of the ladies teams.....? So many questions, so little answers, likely none before 22nd November
  2. Especially when reviving a 7 year old thread
  3. Ya I missed that move and had to solo to catch you okes. Then just as I get onto the back he kicks again and I’m “like really bru”….got bounced off the wheel caught back on and then bounced off again and hung about 20m back. Couldn’t close it after that😂.
  4. Likewise. My moving time was 5:07, 5:10 elapsed. Had to stop at the top of Botmas for a pee. Bladder was bouncing all over the place by then. Fortunately your guys did too and we worked lekker for a while but then we caught the wheelsuckers again eish…
  5. Blue city cycling club top white Abus gamechanger
  6. Decent yes but we could have been faster. The group had potential for sub 5 if more okes took even a 30sec turn on the front. Most Too content to sit in the bunch and go with the flow. scenery was great though and that new road from the R45 to Paarl was superb.
  7. I was in D also. We could have been faster
  8. I agree 90% …. the other 10% is in the unforeseen , like weather and other vehicular traffic prior to the event. I’ll stick my neck out again and state that Gravel is basically Mtb marathon 20years ago. By the time a road derived gravel bike is made comfortable enough with suspension and suspension seat posts it’s weighing as much as a hardtail. Its only benefit is the larger chain ring but they can be fixed with a bit of research and parts acquisition. The idea of drop bars on a Mtb is the right direction imo
  9. Wow!!! That is a turn around of note
  10. Gravel bikes do have brakes right? And riders can use them right? can’t have it all easy or theres no “spirit of gravel”
  11. It’s a bit early for the softness to set in huh?!
  12. Come on , this is getting old. Yes there are other options to spend your money. If you want to go ski, you’ll go ski. If you want to ride/race gravel burn , cape epic, grg then that’s where you’ll spend the money. They’re all holidays if you don’t earn a living from it. Yebo, I think many many people underestimated what it takes to ride a gravel bike at pace for 8 days. This is not the Cape epic, you’re on your own if you get dropped then it’s a long day getting rattled around on a suspension less bike. I tend to have a good laugh at the are core okes promoting the latest road derived gravel bikes while deriding hardtail mtbs with drop bars as not being in the “spirit of gravel”. I’ll bet the song will have different lyrics by Monday. Eeer yes there was , and also a copy paste claim. It’s all derivatives of the original activity called “riding a bicycle “. The packaging changes and fitting the pieces together is the new innovation.
  13. Yeah I get that. Just saying sponsors and organiser could create a bit more fanfare and excitement on the finish line. pS: looks Like a tornado twisted through the camp yesterday afternoon ripping a few Tents from their anchorage and taking up umbrellas into the air traffic control corridor 😂. Luckily no one was injured
  14. Just caught up with a stage 4 highlights. The riding is through some really tough terrain. Tempo here is faster and more edgy than MTB. the only thing I find weird is the finish line is in the middle of nowhere. Hardly anyone around. I’m sure this will change as the event gains popularity. I wouldn’t expect grandstands but at least some people to make a noise. Other than that it looks flipped awesome
  15. We are Kevin’s original customers …
  16. Prevot punctured badly today. She lost nearly 10min.
  17. Ya jong I can but my wallet she eeees brokin
  18. If I had the cash to blow on the entry and a. Gravel bike I’d have been on the start line on Monday. I’d be keen to give it a go since the tour du cap is dead.
  19. Thanks from this it looks like about 80 riders are out since stage1? Maybe I have the start number of 550 wrong?
  20. I can’t see the numbers from the format the results are presented. But it looks like about 3-4 per category on stage 1
  21. Somewhere in the Eastern Cape …just follow the potholes
  22. I think the Gravel Burn is the new Tour de France of mountain biking….. <ducks for cover>
  23. Not sure what people were expecting from Pidcock. He arrived day or two before the registration and get to Knysna. I’m sure he’ll have a few goods to race or maybe he’ll just sit and ride and chat to whomever wants to shoot the breeze. That privilege alone is probably going to bring quite a few people back in 2026. In the mean time the 45+ crowd is following the event and watching their fellow 45+ mates come to the realisation that gravel racing has more in common with a PPA road race in the Perdeberg region than the cape epic and wondering just wft they got themselves into. cape epic allows you to trundle along at endurance pace , get to the finish and you can call yourself awesome. Gravel burn asks you to smash threshold and stay there for a few hours till the legs scream enough and then you still have 40km to ride in a blown state. the DNFs yesterday and DNS today raised my eyebrows. More than I expected
  24. Supposed to be but not sure how much they can cobble together from the camera bikes. Weather was too foul for the chopper
  25. How did the mumpara with 50T chainring go.....? #askingforafriend
