  1. Oh pray do tell what African magic is this non oil lube….?
  2. The French know how to celebrate their cyclists. Pinot had quite a moving send off last year too
  3. It is a great tool for structured training. It’s doesn’t replace the Heart Rate Monitor or monitoring your average speed up a specific climb or route as the objective of any trek g is to go faster. in the hands of someone not knowing. What to do with it a lovely expensive random number generator. It’s most effective when used in conjunction with structured training. But the most important change you can make is a structured training plan periodised and specific
  4. Launch is on Tuesday 17th I believe. yip no mechanical at this time but….
  5. how did you loose both through axles!?!?
  6. There's room for a 38T provided you don't have any chain suck. Larger chain rings may rub when you're cranking on the power as the stays and down tube flex. A 40 may fit if you reduce the chainring offset by 3mm and reduce the cassette sprocket size
  7. if the cassette is smaller the chain ring can be bigger without changing the chain. Although, the cassette and chain would need to be compatible. Most mtb's only accept up to a 38T without a chainline adjustment. So if the cassette is smaller the chainline can be combobulated a wheee bit to allow for maybe a 40T
  8. and also tell Kevin that pre 2010 the Cape Epic wasn't a race. It was just a a bike trekking event won fought over by world champion and olympians
  9. 13industries.co.za is the official distributor for Cane Creek cycling components in RSA. sales@13industries.co.za 087 153 4442 hey have the thudbuster in stock and may have the older posts elastomers in stock too directly from CC: https://www.canecreek.com/collections/suspension-seatpost-elastomers/products/thudbuster-lt-3g-elastomers US$7.99 x 18 +VAT should be around R166 / elastomer. SHipping/courier charges can push that to X2 or X3
  10. For sure I agree, maintenance is the real problem especially with upside down mounted shocks. But I also had an issue with my performance shock and that had nothing to do with maintenance but rather a bad batch of shafts with anodising that was not hard enough. it was replaced under warranty. As mentioned, availability of the Kashima coated shaft is generally better than for the black anodised Performance Shaft because there are less issues with those and that it is a suitable drop in replacement (not an other brands shock airspring shaft). In terms of wear the Kashima does last a lot longer, regular maintenance included or not. YMMV. So for now, if a Kashima coat shaft is available then its a suitable replacement part. I don't know the context of any enquiry for the spare part but generally if you ask for a part for a Performance Shock the supplier doesn't offer a part from an equivalent Kashima shock. Maintenance isn't going to fix this particular shock of the OP
  11. this is a common problem with the Fox Performance series shoks with black anodising. Just asak RBC t replace it with a Kashima coated shaft. The wear mark at the sag point is due to the shock bending under pressure. The score mark is caused by dirt and that is causing your leakage. I;ve got this t-shirt. The Kashima shaft solved the problem but Fox approved this under warranty
  12. I suspect their issue was tyres. All of them faded. or the whole was struck down by a virus
  13. Excellent 14th for Luke and Tyler, Alan taking 10th!!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
  14. Puck off the front in super muddy conditions. She may lap The entire field at this pace
  15. only XCC. XCO is still mtb tyres for courses bigger isn't always better
  16. yip, they have been using gravel tyres since Araxa. The XCC courses are smoother. Basis the reduced need for absolute traction and rolling resistance is more a factor a narrower tyre at higher pressure is faster. supporting my statements above: https://escapecollective.com/think-mtb-tyres-are-faster-on-gravel-think-again/
  17. Chainline is 49.7mm for the FC-RX610-1 so this can work if the frame can accept a 38T to 40T chainring and 151mm Q-factor. Chainstay outside width at various points vs the crankarm width is important to know to prevent the arms hitting the stays.
  18. Alan is on the entry list so the intent is to race Leogang MVDP is prepping for the Dauphine and is still riding with a wrist cast so no Leogang for him
  19. Only the XTR cranks came in the 167,5 172,5 177,5 kength options. with newer franks Shimano has only kept the 167,5 for XTR with all others only in 165, 170 and 175 options. you can try to find a cannondale hollowgram Si crank and acquire the appropriate length axle but this is 30mm vs Shimano 24mm axle. praxis , garbaruk and a few other speciality crank manufacturers maybe have 172,5 in the options list but the chainring and bb will likely need to be replaced as Shimano uses proprietary chainring mounting templates
  20. That feature is quite good because he ay I see it is the slower shift speed will be for the 10-51 cassette and the faster for the 9-45 and DH cassettes
  21. How does that compare to a SRAM Eagle XX1 AXS upgrade kit which directly comparable?
  22. A theme that has been communicated across several platforms. Some riders complain that AXS shifts too slowly but that is a very deliberate decision basis the large jumps between sprockets. Di2 might shift faster in the shops wirketanf but under load that speed cannot be exploited, especially on the 10-51 cassette. The shift speed seems to be optimised more for the XCO racer using the 9-45 cassette. I didn’t like the micro drive concept 15 years ago because small sprockets and chainrings carrying big loads wear quickly. So for me the shift speed is a bit of a marketing thing and a technical miss because reliability and longevity of my drivetrain are key reasons why I prefer Eagle. If I want a smaller racier cassette I could use the XG 1271 XPLR 10-44 cassette with my eagle drivetrain and i can shift that pretty quickly with a gripshift
  23. On the whole I agree with you but it is a good idea to have a knowledgable third party have an objective view of how you interact with the bike especially in areas where you experience discomfort or repeated injury. Just like doctors needs doctors, cyclists need bike fitters from time to time. But generally I don’t need someone to tell To take two panados until I do.
  24. Shimano don’t last that long bro… that’s campag
  25. I doubt it will tip the market share by much. Internationally XTR DI2 should be around 20% cheaper than XXSL with XT Di2 positioned between GX AXS and XO1 AXS and Deore below GX AXS. Weight wise it appears to be heavier across the board maily due to the cassettes. The hubs are really nice though and shed between 10 and 20% eight depending on model and configuration. Cranks are still aluminium, not carbon. Rumour on weightweenies is there is a 29mm axle versoin of the crank which could be for 55mm CL cranks as the current 24mm axles are quite bendy and heavy. All current mechanical groups are upgradable to the new DI2. Batteries are removable but you have to remove a cover and a bracket. This is to get around SRAM patents.
