  1. Dear Bruce,Angie and Natasha. There are no words to describe how shocked Yvonne and I were at the news of your tragic lose of Adam. Bruce having known you for a good number of years one can say that Adam must have had yours and Angies goodness as a person. We will keep you all in our prayers my friend. Glenn and Yvonne Fowler.
  2. Just something for tose cyclists out there that jump stop signs and robots. The child sittig in the passenger seat could very well be yours. "If he can do it, so can I". My point here is, that your actions out there are possibly being watched by some innocent child who will at some stage do exactly what you had done and sadly could become yet another stat on S A roads. Lets think about our actions out there guys. We are also resposible for our attitudes. As the saying goes two wrongs dont make a right. Sadly another innocent family man lost by some one who has no regard for human life. Our condolences to his family.
  3. I have to agree it is time for CSA and PPA to look after the people that keep the koffers topped. After all if the roads are not safe to train on there would be no need for them to hold races, thus no funds. Getting back to awareness i have chatted to Head Marshal from Think Bike regarding their next rally (date to be posted) and he indicated that they would welcome as many cyclists as possible to participate. I therefore would like to appeal to all you guys/ladies out there to look out for the date and to please try and make a concerted effort to be at the designated points. The more numbers out there the more the awareness. Actions speak louder than words come on lets make this work for all concerned.
  4. knievel. You are more than likely the same idiot who has no regard for any one else on the road, motorist, motor cyclist, cyclist and even pedestrians. Your kind of idiot is a disgrace to man kind. The mountain bikers i know at least have a brain and are as considerate and understanding of the hazzards on the raod, they also ride the road and at laest one has a motor bike. May be you should go back to the bush where you belong because you certainly have sh*t for brains. BIGOT
  5. Hairy. Looks good. Can be worn over the pocket section of jersey i presume. Will pm my email adress if ok. Will give to family to wear as well as black arm band.
  6. Headmarshal. I agree it is time to stop the "us and them" mind set and that the two start working together. But as a cyclist there is one point that urks the s*#t out of me is that whether we ride two abreast (two cyclists riding in close proximity to one another) not with a half a meter between them or single file, certain of the Think Bike members still feel they have the right to come as close as possible to the cyclists and gesture that we get off the road, and this at speeds well in excess of the permissable speed limit. Needless to say that while doing this they are also using almost the entire road at times to negotiate some of the corners. Not the attitude one would expect from those who are trying to promote safety on the roads for those on two wheels as much as the attitude of those (cyclists) who take up the entire road when riding. Agreed that one cannot police every body but maybe by working together we can find a solution to sorting out our differences and a way to make the roads safer for all of us to use out there. I do have a sticker on my vehicle.
  7. As i said before maybe a day throughout the country that is co-ordinated as a sympathy/strike (solidarity) ride through our major cities may be a way to start. Yes i know it smacks of the Taxi mentallity, but we live in Africa and doing what Africans do, may just give the powers that be something to think about. Lets get the motor cyclists involved as well. Just a thought guys. But something has to be done for the good of all that use our roads.
  8. Not going to Argus but myself and my family will be wearing black arm bands.
  9. Sad Sad news. Cycling is such a fantastic sport and to have incidents like this happen saddens me deeply and also frightens the living hell out of me. Time for PPA and CSA to step up to the plate and get the awareness out there we as cyclists can only do so much. Maybe its time to set aside a day when the entire cycling community through out the country have a sympathy/strike ride (same as the Taxis do)and bring the streets of all our cities to a halt. Maybe the motor cyclists would join us as they are on two wheels as well. Maybe this will get the authorities off their fat butts and have a look at the problem with negligent drivers. An arm band will definitely worn by the Fowler family. Our Condolences to the families. May our Lord grant you peace and strength. Big G2010-03-08 09:51:25
  10. Dollar best wishes a fall is no fun but she will need lots of T L C. fix the bike and let it hang in the garage and when she feels right she will take it down and go for a little ride at first. But as they say if one falls off the horse the best way to get over ones fear is to get up and get back on asap. Riding super bikes you should know. But to each his own i supposeBig G2010-03-05 08:58:25
  11. Hey Silverstreak. Helping others is what is important to me. If i can pass on the knowledge that i have gained over the years and someone else can benefit from it and improve their performance that makes me a happy man my bud. Just hope that it will help because its important to know how far you can push your body and listen to it, it will give you signs. So learn to know your body and listen to it. One day out of your week is nothing in the context of how far you can push your body until it wont respond any more. Will always be forever greatful for that allen key Big G2010-03-05 08:05:00
  12. The best way for your body to recover is to rest. Supplements will only help to a certain degree but eventually you will suffer burn out. This happens when you push the body to its limit every day. Something to remember is when you train hard or race you are actually tearing muscle tissue, at some point you need to help your body replenish that muscle tissue. As somenone mentioned moderate rides three days a week and two hard will do you more good than harm. But one rest day in between is essential. I would say if you are riding in the week and on both days on the week end, Monday should be your rest day. Spent many hours of a day in the saddle and burn out aint fun. Can break the best mentally.Big G2010-03-05 06:42:15
  13. Cant help you there but the sponsor he is covering (his business i beleive) is John Morrison Panel Beaters if that helps you.
  14. Sorry teacher i have corrected it now please dont hurt me ? Thank you.? I'll let you off' date=' this time [/quote'] Hell thanks Mrs Colonel. These things happen when one has very little sleep and you forget the Dictionary
  15. Sorry teacher i have corrected it now please dont hurt me
  16. Dont think so! His part of the deal was that he payed for the kit. Something is going to be done about the incident. C S A are going to look into the matter and appropriate action is going to be taken from their side once all the facts have been gathered. Big G2010-02-27 05:09:13
  17. Sorry to bring up a rather crappy subject again but only got to hear about it earlier today. I am disgusted to think that this kind of low class person is allowed to still ride! Something needs to be done. But just something i noticed in the pic of Jorge is that his arms are covering the name of another sponsor. that sponsor co-incidently happens to be his own business. Co-incidence mmmmmm.Big G2010-02-27 05:11:00
  18. ? Don't you know roids makes certain body parts shrink. Ja' date=' like the brain to begin with,.......!![/quote'] Couldnt agree more
  19. Tempers will always flair in any sport especially at the top. And this is not new it has happened for years even between the top riders themselves even over seas it happens. And i agree that there should be a little more tolerance from the Pros, But having said that lets face it, whether you are an MTBr, roadie or even trackie the top guys put in a hell of a lot of time and as some one might have mentioned it is their job, and should some one suddenly move off their line abruptly for what ever reason it may not only be one rider that will fall but possibly the entire bunch. Time off the bike for them is lose of income besides the possiblity of broken bones (had a few in my day not pleasant) and then the time to get ones self back into form so that you can perform to the full potential that is required by your sponsor. Failure to do so could mean you lose your contract which as you can understand means lose of income. A couple of years ago in the 94 someone stopped suddenly in the middle of the highway and one of the pro ladies who was coming up from behind had no where to go, result was that the pro ended up been taken to hospital rather badly cut up. Lets try and be more tolerant and careful from both sides so that we can all enjoy this fantastic sport CYCLING.
  20. Right on! Maybe make it an extention to Monte all the people traffic they need as well
  21. Its obvious that Makro didnt plan for Taxis at the one on H/Pot because as some one said it is an absolute nightmare trying to get past the taxis at times even in a darn car let alone on your bike. I live in Constantia Kloof not far from the Makro and it is no fun trying to drive down H/Pot at month end with the amount of traffic going to Makro and its no fun on H/Pot at the best of times. Not a good idea for Four WaysBig G2010-02-22 02:08:29
  22. Get well soon Brad. You and your family are in our prayers.
