  1. I still want to see someone start the 5km tar lead-in with a road bike, drop the MTB'ers on the start line, and as soon as you hit the dirt, bring up the pairing screen to come to a sudden stop, swap road bike for MTB, and carry on with the MTB for the rest of the race. Should loose around 20-30 seconds standing still, but overall might beat or come close to all out MTB.
  2. The MTB is around 20 seconds faster than the gravelbike on one lap of the Jungle Circuit. The S-Works Epic is 1 sec faster than the Scott Spark RC Edit: I see there is a Trek Super Caliber now that beats both the S-Works and the Scott!
  3. We had a flippen messy TT last night! Caught a team that wouldn't let us by with kit on almost like us.. ended up following wrong wheels and our bunch split.. 3 across the line and me limping home in 4th 2mins back. For me, first time back on Zwift since the 12 Nov TTT. Average power down from 3.8w/kg to 3.2w/kg and HR higher than usual.. moerse wake-up call!!
  4. You of all people know exactly what it takes to drop the weight.. but getting motivated and actually doing it and then staying consistently diciplined is a different matter! This is where I'm at at the moment: Newly built house with a million DIY projects everyday when I get home. New job title that keeps me at the office a bit longer than usual. Cycling less and less every week. Lack of planning meals. And the new house is a bit further from my office, so can't have lunch at home anymore..no planning = fast food.. motivation is feeling so low at the moment. I'm just trying to take it week by week now.. this week I just want to finish the bigger DIY projects and finish installing the gas stove/oven so that I can at least start planning and prepping meals from next week. Then I'll have to get back into setting my alarm for 04:15 to ride before work. On top of everything I have a thesis to complete by the end of march. My boss is retiring later this year, so I might be in a position to buy the company from him. So flippen much going on at the moment that motivation for cycling and weight-loss is very difficult to find!!
  5. I'm going to follow this thread. We've been seriaas dot watchers the last couple of years, but will only be able to commit to 24/7 dot watching later in the year. Might even still enter the race myself if everything I got planned for the year falls into place perfectly.
  6. Dammnnn I missed it!!
  7. Fun little section this!
  8. Scouts Trail up and Cool Runnings back down to town.
  9. Copperhead, you set the bar so high so early in the year for the best trip of the year! Flip this looks like a lekker trip! If you don't mind, do you maybe have a link to your Strava account? Would love to check out your routes on there!
  10. The Munga finish line straight to Doolhof. I'd seriously be deflated if I just covered 1100km and have to deal with these 5km of corrugations to get to the finish line. Just a little reminder that these Munga okes are mentally in a different class.
  11. Well then, didn't think it was possible, but they created something I never knew I needed this much! I wonder if it will actually work in practice.. https://www.news24.com/ride24/news/variable-tyre-pressure-wheelset-is-a-mountain-biking-breakthrough-20210125?fbclid=IwAR1z8WRMogG8-otDkViSqQ99-R95zuqLRNw8-qe8odGse7D_zf1YiDU_Lts
  12. How's the gravel road between Loxton and Bft West now? Last time I was there was in 2017 and it was heavily corrugated and sharp rocks in the road. Saw four SUVs/bakkies stationary on that small section of gravel busy fitting spare wheels.
  13. Yes, doesn't matter if you are transferring from The Race or The Repeat, you can transfer to any of the other events. You can transfer to the 2021 Repeat event from next week Monday, but for now just to the Race weekend. If you want to transfer to a 2022/2023 event, then you have to send them a mail to reserve your spot.
  14. Haha you are already fifth in line! We are keeping it three for now.. easier to manage mechanicals and bonking of three bikes and three bodies instead of four.
  15. No, I didn't. I emailed them now and they said that it was mailed to us last week. I definitely didn't receive that mail, also not in my spam or gmail social/promotions folders. Anyways, got the coupon code now and transferred our team of 4 to the 14 August 2021 Race weekend. One of our team members said he's done with this latest R600 transfer fee, he can't keep up with the costs just piling on and still there is no certainty if the August event will even happen. So now we down to a 3 man team.
  16. Thanks! I think you can expect to pay around R7000 for the frame and fork. He takes everything apart and reassembles it..even replaced a few frame pivot bearings for me. It took him 22 calendar days (including drop-off and pick-up dates).
  17. Hi Riaan, You can join the 2021 weight challenge. Here is the link: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/187654-bike-hub-weight-challenge-2021/page-1 You can fill in your details on the excel sheet attached to the first post there.
  18. B Schutte, dit is jou VOORREG om die trail te gebruik, nie jou REG nie. With that entitled attitude, land owners will ban cyclists completely from using trails on their property.
  19. Misty Paarl Mountain this morning
  20. Yeah, the cleat is just the piece on the sole of your shoe that clips into the pedal. And on that note, I have a friend that calls them "clicks" instead of cleats, cause you know, they click into your pedal..
  21. Some of those Spaniards rented my house on Kanoneiland.. They pay a pretty penny, but have ZERO respect for your property! Currently a South African that does contract work at Khi that is renting my house there. Not sure exactly what contract work he does though.
  22. I wonder who got the contract to keep those mirrors clean...
  23. Yeah, they also have a massive parking lot at the oval track where they park the cars for weeks to see how the paint and interior hold up in the sun/heat. Thanks for the nostalgia guys! Now I miss that part of the world. Here's the oval track (If I remember correctly it's almost 15km..more or less 3x the distance of an average F1 track's length): (-29.068783, 19.847303)
  24. Diemersfontein Wine & Country Estate just outside Wellington. Quite a fair bit lower than Pearl Valley, Val de Vie etc from Paarl, but around Wellington it is in the upper margins.. Not complaining though!! Definitely worth it for the working farm lifestyle with 24/7 Thornburn on-site Security, electrical fencing/cameras etc..
