  1. Apart from the heat, the wind prediction is starting to look great!! Ride forecast for 21 Nov 2020 06:15: Temperature: 15 °C to 35 °C, feels like 15°C to 35 °CWind: 5 to 20 km/h, with gusts up to 30 km/hProbability of precipitation: 0%
  2. Awfully quiet in here.. pre race jitters? Tomorrow beers at 19:00 @ The Republic!
  3. Guys that have made custom kit with Vye before... how long do you usually wait to get a first design proposal from them from the date you made payment? And then how long does it take to actually get the kit when you approve a design? I know it has been DC kit madness and everything the last couple of weeks, but we've not received any ideas or designs from them in 6 weeks from payment for our Trans Baviaans kit.. Most companies closes shop in 3-4 weeks, then only back for 1 week in January, then it's Trans Baviaans. I'm starting to get a bit worried that the kit is not going to be ready in time.
  4. Whatever you've been using on training rides that works for you.. don't try something new on race day!
  5. One of our guys was doing his third 36One this this year. The previous one he had to call his wife on 320km to come pick him up. Withdrew so close to the finish with a bad case of flu. This year he called her again, but at CP1 saying he's done, the heat and wind broke him! She said not a chance, I'm not going to pick you up again, either you finish or you find your own way back! Turns out that stern talking was all he needed! He carried on and ended up coming 12th in just over 19 and half hours.
  6. I'd start in Frater Square and pedal up the Mountain Reserve from there. When you get to the top, you basically have access to all the trails going down the mountain in all directions. My favourite is going down the Rhebokskloof Black Route from The Mast in the mountain reserve. And then the orange route loop around the mountain from Rhebokskloof to Spice Route, then through the Diamant Forest back around to town. You can buy permits at Frater Square as well. You can find more info here: https://paarladventuretrails.co.za/
  7. Think this is better understandable now.. DOUBLE CENTURY SPLIT CALCULATOR.xlsx Second feeding zone's stoppage time I added at the bottom as it's not a neutral zone and falls in the middle of that one split(I worked from available Strava segment data and can't split the segment to show data before and after that second feeding zone unfortunately)
  8. Aaaah okay, I just measured from a map the distance from Montagu to Ashton and got to that 11kms. I've allowed 29kmh for that section.. Adding the extra 1,5km neutral zone actually means we can average a bit less to get our target time. This better? DOUBLE CENTURY SPLIT CALCULATOR.xlsx You can edit the sheet if you like. Password to unprotect is Johan
  9. I just created this sheet with splits to see more or less what our team would have to average to achieve a sub 6h30min (Or a sub 6 if everything falls into place perfectly on the day). DOUBLE CENTURY SPLIT CALCULATOR.xlsx Edit: Updated Sheet (Password to unprotect is Johan)
  10. Haha let's first see if the gogga bites! Price bracket of 7000 ronds at the moment, not 7000 euros!
  11. Built by a french company called Cyfac Bicycles. Framesets start at 7000 euros. I'm actually just starting now to do a bit of research to buy a tandem and came across this beaut by accident!
  12. My money is on the Hartlief boys.
  13. Personally out of that line-up I wouldn't look much further than a Giant TCR in The Hub classifieds. Some nice deals on them between R10k and R30k. Some of them even with Ultegra groupsets!
  14. We a mixed team starting at around 06:15.. I'm just looking to have my first beer before 14:00. Think that's more or less a 6hr30min target
  15. Back when I was still studying at Stellenbosch I got down to our complex fietshokkie to get my bike to go to class.. bike was missing, just a cut cable lock left over. Super bummed started walking to the police station to report it stolen, then two blocks away around the corner I found my bike just laying there on the sidewalk. Not a scratch on it. Till this day I have no idea what happened there! Maybe this is a similar situation? I can neither confirm nor deny that I came home drunk from Springboks on my bike the night before..
  16. Still looks good
  17. Nice bike.. but I'll wait until after the Olympics for the "Super Duper Modern" version.
  18. That's like 4kg lighter than my Spark!
  19. At a yield sign you only yield to those that are in/at an uncontrolled intersection(In this case cars coming from your left if I'm thinking about the correct intersection). Being at a stop sign, he is at a controlled intersection so you don't have to yield for him. In any case he must stop regardless if there is a yield sign for you or not. He is wrong, you are right. Send him to me for a few lessons.. Edit: I see you are traveling north, so traffic coming from your left then, not your right as I first posted.
  20. Sunglasses are becoming a bit of an obsession I need to stop!
  21. Sean Steenkamp <support@ikhambidistribution.zohodesk.com> He sorted me within 3 days with a new Kickr when I had issues with mine.
  22. At the end of the day nutrition is like a saddle or bib..everyone prefers something personal, and what works for me isn't going to work for the next guy. If I'm training to do 6hr + races I need to get out there on long training rides and test what nutrition works for me personally and not wait until race day to try something new. I've made that mistake before and at every waterpoint had to ask the guys "Where k@k a man?". You can still make nutrition mistakes in 4hrs of racing and get away with it in a sense, not so much when you get to 8-10hrs.
  23. Yeah absolutely! Other big factor for me is heat.. I struggle a lot in heat! Add that into the equation and my fluid+electrolyte intake basically doubles.
