I do not want to cause a major debate on whether someone must spend R10 000 or R100 000 on a bike, but it is worthy to mention that R1K has diffrent values to different people. To a student R1K is a heluva lot of money, and to some it is enough to buy lunch. Car manufacturers cater for loaded and broke people, and it is only fair that bike manufacturers do the same. Imagine the entire population driving around in Geely's, not that there is something wrong with a Geely, but it will frustrate the hell out of guys who is not cash strapped. Let there be budget and high-end bikes so that every has the opportunity to choose his ride, whether he is as fast as some of the hubbers or just there for the enjoyment of cycling.

Yes MCipollini, it is Keo Blade Ti's with 16nm tension (indicated by the red square). Can't find any reason to change the pedals, they are great, and very light at 94g per side. I have tried the 12nm (yellow square), but prefer the more solid 'cluk' offered by the 16nm.

XTR (for durability) on my mtb, and Red (for weight) on my road bike and happy with both.

Tubeless tape and Stans conversion kit is basically the same thing. One is branded and the other one is not. You will need tubeless tyres without a doubt, otherwise you will have more problems, seeing that the Alex rims are not UST with a proper bead. Whether you pay more for the Stans rime tape, or get a generic one, is up to you, it would'nt make a big diffrence. I have tried a tubeless conversion on Alex rims and non tubless tyres some time ago, and at 3 occassions the tyre popped of the rim, once during a ride...not cool.

I share your sentiments, and requested my money back this morning. The TDW has been replaced with another circuit race on 30 September, the same day as the Lion of Africa, an all time favourite of mine, virtually in my back garden.

Too much hassle with this Spring League in my opinion, that is why I will rather wait for Summer. R990 for 2 proper races, a couple of circuits and a hill climb is not my idea of fun.

My wife supports my cycling with all her heart. Once a week I get a cycling related gift, and for birthdays and Christmas I usually get a new bike, one that has S-Works written on the down tube. She gets up in the morning with me to see me off on my early morning ride, after she makes me coffee. She even switchs my Garmin on so that I can get a signal before I hit the road. She mixes my energy drinks, and before a race she even pins my number on.....and all I can do is talk sh*t!
