  1. Yip, chalk powder is recommended by Specialized.
  2. Chalk is a good gripper for carbon. I don't think that the clamp is failing.
  3. Add Specialized BG saddles to the list and I will play along!
  4. Take your bike for a service. After a year the cables have stretched, and your chain could be worn. It has nothing to do with the fact that you have a compact crank.
  5. Fit 650 wheels to the 96, and your lady is half way there!
  6. If you are wearing slippers while running a marathon, I guess it will be ok to ride on these wheels.
  7. You can try, but I reckon if the sealant can't fix it, bin it.
  8. I don't want to take all the credit, so I will admit that it is on a S-Works Stumpy 29er weighing 9.3kg, and my time is very limitted.
  9. Early morning training ride on mtb on the road (45km) avg : 27 to 29 km/h Weekend training ride on road bike (60 - 100km) avg : 29 to 32 km/h Road racing avg : 36 to 38 km/h
  10. Keep it real - Your frame should come with a Brain fork and Brain rear shock, so no need to source your suspension. It should also come with a S-Works seatpost. Just add a groupset of your choice, either XTR or XX, a S-Works 680 mm handlebar, a S-Works stem, and a Specialized saddle of your choice, either Romin or Phenom. Now the wheels. Your frame can only accomodate a 142+ rear hub, which will also be included in your frameset, so just add a set of Roval Control SL carbon wheels, and you are ready to ride.
  11. Sorry for not greeting, but it was a bit difficult to take one hand off the handlebar while dodging the other cement truck!
  12. Just woken up?
  13. I wanted to, but they only have 9 speed stuff.
  14. It is not necessary to get another set of rotors and a casette, however you will then be stuck to change these parts which could become a mission. If you can afford it, get rotors and a cassette to fit to your racing wheels. Some options to consider are American Classic (about R5000), American Classic Race (about R5500), Easton EA90XC (about R8000), Easton EC90XC (R20000) or Stans Race Gold (about R9000).
  15. These type op posts should be declining by now, because soon there will not be the option to choose anymore, unless you want to hang onto the past and pick your bike out of the archive catalogs.
  16. Yes, you can choose a screen field displaying both temperature and heart rate.
  17. I am not entering into a debate with you about which bike is better, because it will defeat the OP's post completely, and will make both of us look like fools. He simply wanted stats on performance, and I pointed him towards Sauser's comparison.
  18. Ask Christoph Sauser...he'll tell you the diffrence. http://www.sauserwind.com/diary.asp?id=5811
  19. WTF with the stupid question? To prevent drying and cracking!
  20. Put your tube in a condom, and regularly check your saddle bag. If the condom is broken, chances are that your tube could be too. The latex on the condom also keeps the tube moist. The condom could also come handy on the trail, one never knows what can happen in the great outdoors!
  21. When things get hot and stressfull in my work environment, I quickly visit this site so that knowledgeable hubbers can remind me of the reason for being able to invest into the S-Works branding. I just love the generalization that everyone on an expensive bike is over weight and can't ride the damn thing, despite being clad in Assos from head to toe, and the one about guys in BMWs and apparantly Specialized bikes being outlaws with no respect for the Road Traffic Act by blantantly refusing to indicate the direction that they are going to turn. So now I get it, if you ride a Raleigh and buy your apparel from Mr. Price you fall in the category of cyclists that obey road rules and know how to ride a bike, but if you choose to get a more expensive bike and kit you are rubbish and up to no good. I have heard it all, guys!
  22. Great bike, you will enjoy many happy miles. Love mine, but only after I specced it exactly the way I wanted it. Now I can't wait for the arrival of my S-Works Epic 29er.
  23. Can't agree with you more! If you can afford a R80K and you like the colour, despite guys on Silverbacks being able to drop you, buy it! And if it matches your car and your house, even more reason to get it.
  24. I recently upgraded from a SL3 to a SL4. There is a significant difference in stiffness, handling and comfort. I can highly recommend the Spez, on condition that you build it with matching components and wheels. (No Force or Ultegra, or budget wheels should be attached to this awesome frame.) Then again Tarmac's Revenge opted for a Oltre after being on Spez for long, and he is very satisfied. Comes down to what you want, and what you like, cause both bikes are great.
