Before I belonged to a club I rode when I felt like it, joining a club made me way more disciplined about training, which has it's own benefits. Guess it depends on the club though
Was chuffed to meet Riaan Manser and have a chat to him about his journey. The rest was pretty much no better or worse than usual. The R10 bombs were a win.
My club doesn't do regular club rides due to our geographic spread. I ride most weekends with a group from Bester Cycles. While there are a number of racing snakes there is an unwritten rule that newbies are accompanied by one or more of the regulars at a pace they are comfortable with. It's an informal rule that has become part of the way the group operates and means new peeps are never left behind.
