  1. Some say Amy Wakefield gargles with peanut butter.
  2. She must be to finish with that gash. Judging by the photo doing the rounds – which appears to be real – I'd be very surprised if she manages to finish the race. Cr*p luck with her and Lill riding so well.
  3. Enormous respect for Amy Wakefield. πŸ‘ Hope the gubbins under the skin can hold up for the next week.
  4. Pro tip: watch the live feed with a 20-minute lag. That way you can skip forward every time NG open his mouth. πŸ˜‰
  5. Ha, ha, ha. You must be young. I remember having to wait 2 weeks and buying a newspaper to find out how slow we rode. No bike computers, no gels, no recovery shakes and most importantly no electric scooters. And even unseeded riders got start in the dark (and the roads were empty). πŸ˜‰
  6. I don’t understand Croatian. πŸ˜‰
  7. Good luck to the bike shop. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ
  8. I can tell you I'd be very p1ssed if that was my bike. Bike shop should know what it is selling, so I'd imagine at least partly responsible. Was the heavy-duty engine degreaser marked as bicycle cleaner? Perhaps post a photo of the product and product labels?
  9. CAUTION Apparently some folks accessing Dye and Sunsynk inverters over the air and locking them out. They are suggesting removing the Wifi dongle until the issue is resolved.

    Tankwa Trek 2023

    ... all I need now is a helicopter. πŸ˜‚

    Tankwa Trek 2023

That's true. They'll need a commentator, some media chaps with cameras and microphones and a helicopter. Uh, hang on ... πŸ˜… In all fairness I have no idea what the mileage was out of the earlier attempts for live broadcasting, I can only imagine they had far more peeps watching the teenager clips on social media. I'll just have to go fly my own bloody helicopter there and see what happens. 😜

    Tankwa Trek 2023

Thanks DD. I was hoping we'd some a live feed again – I have an attention span exceeding 10-second Twitter clips. πŸ˜‰

    Tankwa Trek 2023

Here we are again. Wondering what on earth is going on. Did they start at 1500 today? Who knows. Struggling to understand why a medical aid company or a whatever it is the other company sells would give so much money for so little publicity in return? Not much happening on social media either. Any insights into the race appreciated. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ
  14. Regrettably have had really bad service from Cycleworx (as in bike came bike non-functional and damaged), so I tend to trek east for expertise. Don't know Frankie Fietse at all.
  15. A different perspective, and refreshing that the author is transparent about his friendship with CS. It’s long-form journalism, and it did raise a handful of new details for me (bear in mind the limitations of what can be said before Armstrong’s case has played out). I thought it was okay and worth the time to read. I haven’t read Outside content for several decades - since long before they had a web presence, in print - so cannot comment on the quality of Before vs Present. But thanks for your thoughts on this either way.
  16. Ultra-lightweight Maxxis. πŸ˜‰
  17. Why do you say it was a 'terrible article'?
  18. Saldanha airfield? (Or the air force base?) Time?
  19. Don't forget the West Coast National Park for low traffic.
  20. Cycling is awesome, and a great way to explore scenery. Can't recommend a bike but cycling in dry dune sand is bordering on impossible. But plenty else to explore and just about any mountain bike will have you up and running in no time. Speaking of which, where along the West Coast can beach trails be found?
  21. Now the fun starts: De Ruyter has resigned. πŸ™ˆπŸ™‰πŸ™Š
