  1. You've got some fun toys in your workshop! πŸ‘

I watched the men's race with a 45-minute delay. No issues streaming this time.

The commentary and visuals are not too bad. The streaming is practically useless though. About 70% clear, 30% blocky rubbish and the occasional outright pause. Not sure if it's worth the entry price (watching on HD TV, not mobile device – at my age I need the biggest screen I can get).

I consistently get north of 90-something Mbps on my line. @lechatnoir thanks for the confidence booster with you running on a 6 Mbps line (at was resolution). Short Track is at, I think, 1800 this evening. So a good time to test and see what American horrors awaits us in terms of commentary ... πŸ˜‚

I'm running a 100mbps (fibre) line, and the TV side gets very close to that (wired to modem). For subscription money I expect it to be a LOT better than what I've seen. But to be fair I have to test a little more first: next up is the short track racing this afternoon ... will see how that goes. (I watch cycling through Apple TV, avoid VPNs as it messes with my professional software and, I've heard, Netflix)

    404. Must be geoblocked here. As 🀬 usual.
  7. GCN+ lists this as an available event (in SA). πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ Perhaps the SABC will gain a thread of credibility if they were to invest in SA sports (and enjoy the advertising benefits). 🀬

Signed up with GCN+ yesterday, watched – or should I rather say tried to watch – a few films. The streaming quality is absurd. Netflix, Youtube, Red Bull, Britbox etc all cry happy and super crisp. GCN+ a blurry mess with frequent pauses. I sincerely hope that was some isolated issue and that the XCO this weekend is significantly better ... 🀞
  9. Glad to hear it's sorted out. And thank you for following up.
  10. You get those that tip nothing, those that tip precisely the right percentage and those that tip well. Play nice, it's only fair.
  11. Does your bike rack work on another car? Does another trailer/bike rack work on your T-Cross? ... then take it to the appropriate dealer to fix ...πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ
  12. Ah, I thought it might be Chris Willemse Saaikels. πŸ˜‚πŸ‘ And out of curiosity why did you use BA instead of CWC or Takealot in the first place?
  13. They'll be absolutely fine with that Chris. I'll bet my braai plans on it. There is plenty of space – leave bike with Richard at front of workshop (or tucked into the workshop) – and there are two storeys of browsing bike bits to be done.
  14. Provide some pictures anyway, will be interesting to see (not looking for one myself, but just curious). πŸ‘
  15. Do you have any idea how difficult it is to swallow a cycling jacket? πŸ˜›
  16. How many last lions are left?
  17. πŸ˜‚ Without anyone saying but you'd still be riding a boneshaker bicycle. The boneshaker is nice but some way to propel it better would be rad. The penny farthing is nice but too many OTBs The clunker is nice but ... πŸ˜‰ But yeah, I hear you.
  18. The commentary is pretty good, to be fair. Go watch the British Olympics MTB feed if you want to set the bar on monotony. 😴 Neil rambles on and reiterates the same point several times over. I can imagine a producer somewhere slicing a hand across throat to get him to shut up for a little. But he does have good stats, in spite of the child-man-splaining. Annika is brilliant. Love her insights. Gerald is pretty good. He knows the areas and trails and passes along a lot of useful info to those of us who haven't wines and whaled. Sure it would be fun to have some true nutcase (what was the name of that Portuguese rider a few years ago?) doing some commentary and saying some weird things but we really have little to complain about (and camera footage – heli and e-bikes – is very good for the terrain and available logistics). And they work pretty well as a team. Claudio only gets excited when Mr Min unexpectedly nails a sector to go green (granted, that's always entertaining, but it ain't gonna happen in marathon racing). πŸ˜…
  19. Don’t they always (XCO included) ride custom Maxxis tyres (in spite of the markings that suggest they are off the shelf)?
  20. Some say Amy Wakefield gargles with peanut butter.
  21. She must be to finish with that gash. Judging by the photo doing the rounds – which appears to be real – I'd be very surprised if she manages to finish the race. Cr*p luck with her and Lill riding so well.
  22. Enormous respect for Amy Wakefield. πŸ‘ Hope the gubbins under the skin can hold up for the next week.
  23. Pro tip: watch the live feed with a 20-minute lag. That way you can skip forward every time NG open his mouth. πŸ˜‰
