  1. Just because you don’t have doesn’t mean you shouldn’t. Riding with a dropper is amazing. Why don’t you still ride the same bike you did 20-25 years ago? It would survive, but it’s a lot more fun on modern bikes.
  2. No other reasons? I run 30 psi on a 2.4 with 29mm internal rims, which is on the higher side pressure wise.
  3. Is this only pressure? As I also tend to get this and I’m VERY specific on my pressure. I do tend to ride my bike pretty hard especially into corners though, could this be the cause?
  4. Anyone in Joburg with a headset or a headset bearing shim?
  5. Ah ok, just check your spokes though
  6. Do you know what it was? I had the same issue and seemed I cracked one of the outer parts that the hold the nipples, not sure what its called.
  7. Technology has come very far, modern forks and shocks are really good when it comes to loss through the suspension. There is still a loss, the power to compress the fork/shock comes from somewhere and is mostly lost. Even if it comes from your body mass, this is still power lost. Think how it’s more difficult to climb stairs than walk on flat. It takes energy to lift your mass.
  8. Yes, but the way he measures the watts isn’t accurate as the loss isn’t in the drivetrain.
  9. DH bikes aren’t for climbing. Rider output isn’t the only factor, but on a flat climb it’s definitely a major factor.
  10. When it comes to the tests, the first 2 he shows, they do not indicate speeds at all, at least I didn’t see any. On his own test he did, he took the wattage on the cranks, which wouldn’t be accurate as the power loss isn’t in the drivetrain, it’s in the suspension, this power wouldn’t go through the cranks. Not sure if he cleared any of this up, but I stopped watching there.
  11. Shot, have a few lying around, so will give it a try
  12. Bit of a long shot, but does anyone in Gauteng have a dropper lever available, budget of R400-500 depending on the lever, preferably under bar
  13. You are never “safe” on a bike though, I know of someone that almost died from practicing track stands in his driveway, fell and handlebar damaged organs You can fall at any time and break your neck No point in thinking about it like this, just have fun
  14. Didn’t say safe, just lower chance, with chances of being hit already being so low and many tall objects around you, even lower
  15. Personally absolutely love riding in the rain, I also tend to ride in areas with a lot of trees, so chances of getting hit is next to 0
  16. Those scratches on the stanchions will cause problems in the long run
  17. https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/hardtail-mountain-bikes/501392/silverback-sola-l Love this bike, just upgrade the fork with extra cash to a reba if you can find one
  18. Checked some bikes on the classifieds here on Bikehub, few nice ones for that price range, I see you are looking for a medium, so there are mediums and larges on this list. They are ordered according to what I would most want to buy personally. 19. To me it would depend on the type of sticker Some are easy to remove and leave no marks, so no problem whatsoever, to me at least Others tend to leave residue and are just a pain, wouldn’t go back to them to be honest
  20. Looking really nice???? Pretty cool to see
  21. If budget allows, definitely mips or wavecell I had a nasty crash not too long ago, landed on my head, completely fine, I have a mips helmet My dad had a crash not too long after, landed on his shoulder and got a concussion, non mips helmet Not exactly completely scientific, but my experience
  22. Zoomed in pretty far tho????????
  23. Thx, like playing around with the small cosmetic stuff???? Makes it stand out just that little bit
  24. Not the nicest pic, will get a better pic on the trails tmrw. Just picked the fork up, so officially trail ready????????
  25. I would look at the Rogue sport, Stride and Aspect Is a 2nd hand bike off the table? Can find pretty good bikes for 10-12k with very little use
