Hello fellow cyclists :-) I'm looking for some advice & your opinion please. I's a road cyclist, been cycling for 5 yrs & enjoying it (ride 100 to 125 every Sunday morning, riding a Silverback Space 2.0, full carbon, Ultegra), but recently thought I'd start looking into getting into some mountain biking on a Saturday to try & build up some strength & if I start enjoying it, then maybe also do some MTB races in the future, but for the moment more to just do some basic riding in JHB on a Saturday morning. Been doing my research, & visiting a few cycle shops & there is a wealth of info out there, enough to confuse anybody. I was initially convinced that I was going to get a 29er, but over the weekend, I tried getting onto a Titan 29er a small frame (http://www.titanracingbikes.com/29relite.html) & there is no space in-seem wise, so I'm beginning to think that maybe a 29er maybe be too big for my height size. (I'm 167cm tall). I was also looking at the following bikes: Specialized Rockhopper @ R8999. http://www.specialized.com/za/en/bikes/mountain/rockhopper/rockhopper-29#manuals Silverback Sola 4 @ R6999 http://www.silverbacklab.com/upload/2011_website_SILVERBACK/sola4_14.htm Titan 29er Elite @ R10k http://www.titanracingbikes.com/29relite.html So based on the above, what do you guys think? Am I too short for a 29er & will I battle on this size of bike, should I go with a 650b, or just go with the 29er. Also, any other tips to look or for (i.e. Air shock is a must, 8, 9 or 10 speed) or recommended bike to look at (budget is +/- R10k) Thanks in advance...

Hi, I've been looking at both these bikes, & was advised not to go for the Axis, so I am going for the Space 2, getting for R16500.

Hi there, I am actually purchasing one this week myself, I have been researching for the past 2 weeks & this is the best buy for my price range. I was initially looking at the Silverback Strela concept but decided to go for the Space 2. Retail price is R18620, but I am getting it for R16500 (EFT price) I checked around & this is the best price as well in JHB. I can speak to them tomorrow if you are interested & see of they can do the same price for you... I'm hoping to get mine on Saturday :-)

Hi, I ride once a week at the moment, every Sunday about 100kms, & then the races, Argus, 94.7 etc throughout the year, I currently ride a Raleigh RC 3000 with a Tiagra groupset, but want to upgrade, so was looking at these 2 bikes mentioned, also saw the Merida Race Lite 904 @ R12500, and the Giant TCR3 @ R13700. My budget is around R15k, so still deciding, would appreciate your input.

I know that Axis was launched by Pro Bike in S.A as the Raleigh replacements, so apparently they are good bikes, but not sure...? Thanks,

Hi there, Did you buy this bike already (Axis AR10c), looking for some advice, as I went into Cajees Cycles today & they were offering it to me for R15500 cash. It looks to be a great bike at that spec, but am still in 2 minds about it. I was originally looking at the Silverback Strela Concept, full carbon with 105 groupset @ R14700. Would appreciate you view, as I am contemplating getting the Axis AR10C. Thanks,

Thanks guys, What is your take on Giant bikes, saw a SCR with 105 groupset for R11700, alloy frame. Sill doing my comparisons between, the Caad, Silverback & possible giant.

Hi Guys, I am looking to buy a new road bike for doing the normal club rides once a week & races. I've had my current bike (Raleigh RC3000) for 3 years now. I am looking at the following 2 bikes: Silverback Strela 1.0 (R9350) http://www.silverbac...ACK/strela1.htm Axis AR 30 (R9199) http://www.axis-bike...ikes/road/ar-30 They are both around the same price, just over R9000, & very similar in specifications, but would like to get your take on it. Alternatively, I have seen a new Silverback Monza (2011 model) full carbon & 105 group set @ R13400, so I am contemplating whether I should just spend the extra on this bike or not, as it is the same groupset just full carbon. I would really appreciate your thoughts. Thanks in advance,
