  1. First Ironman finish for me. Six weeks ago I was sitting in hospital getting ready for surgery thinking my race was already over after a bad ear infection that wouldn't clear. Took 3 weeks before I got the all clear from the doctors to start training again. Amazing how quickly one can loose fitness. Seeing that everything was paid for, I was going to go to PE as a spectator. Was convinced by my Tri Club to at least attempt it as I had the base training. After a long and hard day I reached the red carpet in 16:31. Position 1703/1710 and one of the last ppl to cross the line. A far cry from initial target of 14:30. Anything is possible...
  2. I asked ASG the same question This was their reply Race numbers for pre-paid online entries will be available to collect on the morning before the start of the race.
  3. Looking to Swap Mens XL for Mens L Please send me a PM
  4. Heres the GPX file from one of our club rides. Starts in Killarney and goes through Parkview through Mayfair/Fordsburg towards Circus near Suikerbosrand Havent had any issues but we do ride in a bigish group circus.gpx
  5. Disappointment... I got the flu and we also moving house. Won't be able to make the race. Marathon entry available to the first person that sends me a PM. I'm not sure if you can still do a substitution. F batch
  6. Contact FA and ask them to have a look at it. I once had a FA bib whose padding detached from the lycra but the stiching was still in place. So the sponge and was just a ball in one corner. I sent it back to them, no slip or anything, and they sent a replacement. They did say that using Vanish to wash the shorts in at 60deg water could have been the cause.
  7. There are 4 holes on the back. Check that there is no dirt in there and they are not blocked when mounting
  8. I got the red metal 29 XL. Nice wheels. tubeless ready without tape or liners. Bent a spoke on a fall. wheel was still decently trueish. They use proprietary spokes. R120 a pop.
  9. It is on the Website http://www.trailseekerseries.co.za/trailseekerseries/trailseeker3 Halfway down on the right under Route Maps Here you go anyways: Marathon http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/510443798 Half http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/510446946
  10. if you can stretch your budget, check with ASG if the Red Metal 1 is still available https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/141170-fulcrum-weekend-wheel-madness/
  11. My times are out by about 20mins for each stage when compared to my Garmin. So my results are a whole hour over my actual race time. Not impressed!!!
  12. To the guys that have done the full marathon before, how difficult is it compared to the 85km Magallies Monster. (with the monster being 10/10)
  13. RESPECT to all the MTB Riders!!! (For context, I consider myself a decent roadie (almost) managing 3hour 94.7.) Been doing a bit of MTB riding and decided to enter the full marathon on saturday. (after all what's 45km???) So I dive there throught the mist at Hartebeesport and arrive all excited ready to seed myself mid pack and told the wife I'll be home by 2. And thats where the fun stopped... After that I got my A$$ handed to me chaffed and beaten up. Halfway up the Monster, my Garmin decided that I was going too slow and kept on pausing. (How exactly do you keep a rthym with all those rocks?) Got to the top and thought I could make up some time. Then pushed a bit too hard and started cramping at 40km. Check my pockets and forgot the Magnesium at home. Took it a bit easy after that and the pain and cramps started getting worse. at one point I had both my quads and calf muscles pulling at the same time. Leg was locked straight, one foot cleated in and the other on the ground unable to move. Fell once on a downhill when both legs locked up at the same time and I could not uncleat At some point I couldn't pedal anymone without something pulling. Started walking up the hills and freewheeling downhill. Managed to limp home in 7:30. Will I be back next year. DEFINATELY!!! maybe with a bit more training. This was both the best and worst ride of my life. Amazing organisation and scenery.
  14. That might have been my buddy. Took him 10 mins to remove all the blackjacks from his shorts before he was willing to sit on his saddle again.
