  1. As a muslim, it's usually easier to tell a "Indian", from a muslim. Apart from the Bombs strapped to the chest, Joburg Muslims usually have a beard. In the Cape, not so much. Try and avoid riding behind a Muslim oke, the Curry's and the Spicy Biltong make the Bombs quite violent, almost like pepper spray.
  2. I've never felt intimidated by the sheer number of "fair" people. I'm not sure, but it seems some of them do find the big beard a bit "strange". But I've bever had a problem or anything. The Dudes/Dudettes are always friendly and helpful. I love it!
  3. I expected it to be around that price range, looks bloody worth it. Well Done and enjoy. Maybe one day when I'm big ill build one for myself.
  4. Thanks guys. @ Dangle, yeah I know, I also find it moer funny. I also know a couple muslim okes that do road cycling. But hardly any MTBer's, think they don't like getting dirty, im sure it's difficult getting the mud of those white Puma tekkies. @ Spat. The one other mulim dude that cycles with me is also a Kaapie.
  5. Hi/Salaam, I started MTBing beginning of the year, enterered quite a few races so far, ony MTB btw. Sad thing is, out of the THOUSANDS of MTBer's, my family and I are like the only Muslim people I've ever seen at any race. Its so bad that at the Lion Race this year, my phone fell out of my saddle bag, a kid found it, and after going through the pics on my phone, he had absolutely no difficulty finding me. Muslim dudes are usually too spoilt and too "precious", most of them usually end up getiing a Golf GTI on their 18th birthdays. And if they do any sport, 7 out of ten times its soccer, and the other 3 time its cricket. So if you a muslim MTBer, please say Howzit/Aweh/Whatzappening. Fanks/ Shup, Salaam
  6. WOW! Out of curiosity, what did it cost to build? What's the price of the frame?
  7. OMG Dangle! that is absolutlely stunning Dude! Hope you have thousands of great mile on her
  8. Nope, Eid-ul-Adhaa and Eid-ul-Fitr

  12. I started MTBing year, so i wanted a Full Suspension, i looked on the Hub/Junkmail/Gumtree for a while and eventually I found a guy selling a Full suspension Merida AM800D frame and fork for R2500. My plan was to then build up the bike from second hand parts. Being so excited, i didnt realise how expensive it would be to to do this and got a shock when I worked out what it would cost me. Aching to start riding, I decided to check whether I could get a bike shop to sell me a bike wthout the frame. So Cajee's Cycles in Woodmead decided to help out by selling me a Ragliegh Nomad without the frame, and they fitted all the parts to my frame for me for R3000. At the end of the day i spent R5500 on a decent Full suspension bike. Now I wanna start upgrading the components. Might cost me a bit more at the end, but it worked for me. I guess when I'm done upgrading all the components, ill start shopping for a new frame again. Just thought I'd share my 2 cents
  13. Ill probably be there thursday morning. Anybody Else?
  14. I think the Scott too, got full deore components, whereas the Giant has Alivio. ALso depends on which frame fits you better i suppose
  15. Stunning bike! Have fun!
  16. Reason I asked bout the time machine, is because the 4th of November was 3 weeks ago...
  17. Cool, whose sponsoring the time machine?
  18. Hehe, you're prbably right, not a roadie, but MTBing is AWESOME! Its like Pringle's
  19. OMG... I can't believe this conversation is still going... That is one popular *&%# in a MTN kit
  20. I find that doing it while on a spinning bike helps quite a bit the night before a race.
  21. My back was sore, i was thirsty, I was spraying methane gas on my saddle, the prisoner's didnt really intimidate me. I just kept my head down and pedalled.
  22. Route still goes thorugh Leeukop, and the prisoners still wolf whistle and call out to the riders in their lycra riding past, and still mostly at the okes too.
  23. Also did the 50km, firtst time i've entered for the 94.7 MTB, i was impressed, thought it was very well organised, scenery was decent for a JHB city race. The water points I think were well organised. I had a GR8 time.
