  1. Cycle Nation have a few rides every week, follow their Facebook page for ride details
  2. I think early morning rides would suit a lot more riders than late evening rides
  3. Correct, it makes the geometry identical to a standard epic. I preferred the Evo as I'm not a huge fan of the brain suspension
  4. It used to have a dropper with a 130mm fork, but now I'm running 100mm
  5. Sorry for the non drive side pic, all I have on this phone currently
  6. I bought the Epic Evo Comp and moved my Enve Wheels, Cockpit and AXS Groupset across
  7. I'm guessing that it's max 3 sessions a week.
  8. How many HIIT sessions would a pro do in a week?
  9. Firstly, the pros don't have weight to lose 😜 As the article says, it depends on each individuals fitness goals and there are benefits to both HIIT and Z2
  10. Maybe you're right, but you can do 2hrs of Z2 every single day without risk of injury and without depleting your glycogen reserves...
  11. Are you saying 2hr Z2 followed by 30mins HIIT? Morne and I are discussing 1hr Z2 VS 30mins HIIT
  12. Perhaps, but I don't see how 30mins HIIT burns more calories post workout than 1hr at Z2. HIIT also forces your body to use glycogen reserves, where Z2 uses fat reserves. I'd love to see an article explaining the science behind your theory. That said, any of these practices would be ineffective in weight loss without maintaining a daily calorie deficit
  13. 1hr in zone2 is 600 calories...
  14. Low HR activities taps into your body's fat reserves as opposed to glycogen as an energy source. But yes, at low HR over 30mins you're not losing anything as the total calories consumed is low, hence you need to ride for long, 2-3hrs to gain a worthwhile advantage
  15. I'm a big fan of these annual targets. Iv hit my distance and time goals for 2021 and only 3000m of climbing to go to hit 100000m 2022 I'd like to hit1 2000km 120000m 450h and a sub 3h CTCT
  16. Roval
  17. It was anytime from 5am to accommodate for teams that needed more time to reach the finish before curfew. I think the pro field left at 8am
  18. Done the race 3 times and usually don't stay in Willowmore as the start is only 10am the next morning. Few nice lodges within an hours drive
  19. With that budget you'd be better off getting a relatively new, good alloy hardtail than an old beat up carbon frame. Something with an air fork and 1x11 or 1x12 and hydraulic disc brakes. Already tubeless would be great and ask for cages and pedals to be included, will save you a bit
  20. I got R20k for mine
  21. My guess is that these bikes were stolen under instructions of clients across the border.
  22. I drove through the pass, in those conditions on my way to the start line. Sending a race through there would have been negligent and irresponsible.
  23. If the race continued and someone got hurt we'd be having a completely different conversation. Lightning and rock slide, two forces not worth gambling life on.
  24. DC is definitely a highlight for our team every year, this year we had a men's and mixed team entered. Yes, it costs a small fortune to get 25 riders and support to the event from Johannesburg. R30k entries, R50k flights, R30k in accommodation, R30k rental vehicles... Anyway, we had a lot of skin in the game, not even mentioning the hours of training. We stayed in Barrydale the night before the race and drove through the pass to get to the start. So we got to see that part of the course. Thunder with heavy rain and strog winds, streams gushing over the road, pools of water, rock slides... We were relieved, and obviously disappointed, when the race got canceled, the pass is hard enough for many riders to get down safely in dry conditions with strong wind, let alone dodging obstacles in a group, in the wet. That said, DC, to us, is about the adventure. Touring with friends and celebrating the end of the season during our annual fines meeting. We still had an adventure, and we had a fi es meeting of note and overall we had a great weekend, the only thing missing was a 200km bike ride. We'll certainly be back next year, just like the years before and the years to come ????
  25. So we have a 30min neutral zone, followed by a 30min feed zone and no free time to stop at feed zone 2, right?
