Has anybody got the profile for this years Ninety Niner 108km route. Total ascent?

He came past me going up Krugersdorp hill. I was in a low gear grinding up the hill, he was out the seat sprinting. Only realized who it was after the team car came past as well. It was hot in the Cradle and even worse going up the hill.

Just ordered a new Pinarello Dogma 2013 frame. Should be getting it end January.

He is talking about taking HGH for aging. Those are small quantities that will not result in any side effects except make you feel better. But even small doses will improve your performance on a bike and I guess that why it is banned. From what I have read, Lance got testicular cancer from overdosing cuortizone not HGH.

Can't recall going over Botmans Kloof pass, how high is it?

As a matter of interest, what was the route like for this race? I have done races around Wellington before and these were quite flat. Could not find a route profile for this one.

Is there any testing being done in SA cycling at all?

Also just read " From Lance to Landis" it's in a similar vein i.e. Lance bashing but both books expose what went on. After reading these I have lost all respect for LA. Not because of the doping, they were all doing it and in all probability still are,

I am busy reading "The Secret Race" by Tyler Hamilton. If only half of what he writes is true about Lance Armstrong then I am all behind the USADA taking his TDF wins away. Anybody read the book?

Someone posted below that their headaches stopped after switching to 32GI. I used to use Hammer Products, I used to get really bad headaches after long rides and races. Earlier this year I switched 32GI and no more headaches. I thought that it was because it was winter and I was not loosing as much fluids. But if somebody had the same experience then maybe it is what you are using on the bike. My reason for switching products had nothing to do with headaches it was purely because 32GI guarantee their products to be completely free of animal products.

I have set of Campy Bora One's. Best wheels I have ever had. I have been thinking of getting a set of Bora Ultra 80mm deep sections to use in the flatter races and use the Bora Ones on the hillier races. Will I notice any difference on the ride? I live and ride in JHB so wind is not so much of a factor.

I find that riding at the coast is a lot easier. More oxygen.

So it's a 100m more climbing but about 10km shorter? If I recall the Cobra is 85km?

The D2D had around 1075 m climbing, any idea on the Cobra?

I was having a discussion with a cycling buddy of mine about which race is harder the D2D or the Cape Cobra. I rode the Cobra a few years ago and the D2D yesterday. I would think about the same. Any thoughts?

I knew about the humps ad I did a race there a week before. But there were water bottles all over the road. I lost one of mine. On some of the humps it was possible to go onto the other side of the road to miss the humps. Should the organizers be encouraging the riders to be riding against the oncoming traffic.

Having read a few books on doping in professional cycling, I have no doubt that he cheated. The evidence is there. There is very little doubt that the rest of the peloton was doping too. So the title gets taken away from LA and given to the next doper? He was still physically better then the rest of them. Or his body responded better to the drugs. Before anybody says that he had a better chemist the top riders at the time were all using Dr Ferrari.

I have a set of Campy Bora's and run a SRAM Red groupset inluding a SRAM cassette. Keep in mind that when I bought the wheels I had the choice of a Campy or Shimano free hub. I obviously put on the Shimano which is compatible with SRAM.

It's a good article, but I have just read " From Lance to Landis" followed that by " The Doper Next Door " and I am just busy reading " Breaking the Chain". Those books give you a insight into doping in sport, cycling in particular. Reading these I don't believe that there is a single TdF winner that has not doped. Wiggins included. if you have not been caught it just means you are better than the system.

Does anybody have the total ascent for the race? I did it last year but did not keep the numbers.
