  1. So glad I did not waste money doing this. With the wind and now a shortened route would have been a complete waste of R 20k going to Cape Town.
  2. Really good movie. Saw it on IMAX at Gateway. Worth the extra few bucks for the IMAX.
  3. Very unfortunately yes. The biggest load of crap that I have ever seen. Saw it in 3D, it's so badly filmed, could not see anything, mostly just shadows. Nothing like the games. In my opinion, nobody in that entire cast and set ever played the games. It's over complicated, mostly takes place in the present, a very few (I think 3) scenes in the past. What does Ezio do, he jumps of high towers, in the movie there is one scene with this, as he jumps, the idiot in the Anymus has a heart seizure. Could not possibly have been worse.

    Give it a TRI

Thanks that does help. I also looked at the distance and time to get there. Seems to be at least a two hour drive from Four Ways. So the extra petrol and toll fees will more than make up for the entry fee that you pay in Germiston.

    Give it a TRI

Has anybody done any of the races organized by the North West Triathlon Association? They have race coming up on the 14th Jan. It's either that or the Germiston race organized by Troi sports on the 15th.
  6. Great event and well organised apart from: Breakfast at first stop, I did not have it, but one of the guys on our team did,was not too complimentary. We were given breakfast packs by the guest house we stayed at so had those.Second stop at Sabi was too small for the number of people. Our team support (read wife coerced into supporting) had to park away from the venue, the second stop last year was a lot better and easier for supporters and riders.Second stop - my wife went use the toilet she said the female toilets were beyond disgusting.Lunch - both me my wife are on a vegetarian diet, there were more than likely a few more vegetarians in the race. My wife went to fetch me some lunch, they gave her a dry roll with a small piece of lettuce on it and some Nando's sauce. Really? If the organisers want, I will pay extra to get some decent lunch, or more than likely next year will bring my own. The other guys in our group who do eat meat, looked at the lunch, in their opinion the greasy offering looked disgusting and had whatever food we had with. I am not expecting a al carte menu but at least something edible and at least a small consideration for those that do not consume donkey or whatever that was.
  7. How do you stream Erosport?
  8. I have entered the Fast One in January. Will Discovery automatically deposit the 50% back for the race entry in my account? Do they pick it up from the entry list or do I have to let them know that I have entered and send proof? They do pick up our food purchases from Woolworths and refund, my wife uses a Woolworths card which is linked to Vitality. I paid my entry fee using a Nedbank credit card.
  9. Just got the mail. I am in, now for some hard training.
  10. Different shop and different people run in it now. Not a single Pinarello in the shop.
  11. On the start grid at Kyalami, and yes it's mine.
  12. They still there and in bussines. Not sure how well they are doing but the shop is full of bikes. I start and end my Saturday ride from a coffee shop right next to the bike shop. Was talking to the sales guy at at the Specialized concept store in Cedar square and he said he saw a "Specialized" frame in the same shop. So they still hapillly selling Chinese imports.
  13. I have one of my older bikes permanently on the trainer. Use a towel over the handlebars. I also have a fan on in the room. It cools you off while riding and dry's the sweat so very little gets on your bike. Before I had the fan there was a lot of sweat on the bike and floor.
  14. Got the Hero3+ for Christmas. Mine is going to be used for taking videos from my race car. Most of the guys that I race with, have a video camera on their car. I tried it on my bike and the video quality is great. Doubt I would ever use it in a bike race or to just go for a training ride. If you are going to use it for races just remember that the battery life is quite short, just over a hour. You can buy a bigger battery pack.
  15. Rolex Oyster Datejust. Also have a Tag Heuer Carrera.

    Time trials

I have been riding and racing road bikes for years so this may seem a bit of a stupid question. Riding through the Cradle I see a lot of time trial bikes. I never see time trial races. Are these only used for triathlons? or are there races for these bikes? I would be interested in riding time trials and could convert one of my bikes into a time trial bike. I do not want to do triathlons as my knee prevents me from running.
  17. The Tacx Fortius was a bit like that with wires all over the place. The IVortex runs of one plug into a power outlet. Everything else is run over ANT and a dongle in my laptop. I have spare bike full time set up on the trainer so all I have to do is switch on the laptop. It's all set up in a spare room. Time to start riding is limited by the time it takes to start the laptop.
  18. Stupid question what is a FTP number? I use mine quite a lot, had the Tacx Fortius before the Vortex. I live in Four Ways area in JHB, no chance of riding on the local roads, the only option is the Cradle on the weekends or Kyalami during the week. I have ridden both so many times it's almost as bad as sitting on a trainer. Kyalami is actually worse.
  19. I have downloaded - Les Calanche Di Piana - Cote de Puget I have been riding the Cote de Puget video for the last 2 weeks, my legs are dying. I hear what you are saying about using Catalyst but sitting on the training bike for a hour a day is bad enough, at least with the video's there is something to look at. With catalyst there is just a graph. How many hours a week do you ride on the trainer?
  20. Recently I bought a Tacx I Vortex trainer. ( I had a Tacx Fortius for a few years). - had anybody got a I Vortex ? - what is your opinion on it? - do you think that the wattage displayed is realistic? - when going downhill I get some ridiculously high speeds displayed, do you also get that? - what watts do you ride at in the mountains? - I have downloaded 2 of their videos which videos do you have? - for training I use the videos, what do you use?
  21. As a average fun rider I do not see the CSA doing a single thing for me. I lived in the WP and participated in PPA races there, these were properly organized and seeded. Have since moved to Gauteng, no PPA, the seeding in most races here is a joke. So I did not mind paying R250 to the PPA. Do I care abou a bunch of paraplegic cyclists winning medals, no not really. Means absolutely zero in my life. Cycling safety is a joke, at least in Cape Town they have cycling lanes. So what does the CSA do for me?
