  1. has admin given this a thought? A DIY thread?
  2. Pepper spray is useless if someone is high on tik or mandrax.
  3. not as slow as me, i can assure you of that! good chance of some lebanon on the weekend if your interested.
  4. Tricky when your climbing (up to the block house), i don’t know if you would have enough time to react. From reports it is generally 2 or more assailants, so might be better to give it up and walk away. Riding in numbers is the only way. Nope, don’t know them.
  5. You too! We only ride in a group of three or more, so try to stay as safe as possible.
  6. Made a few changes as suggested in the thread, and the bike feels a lot better: 1. Dropped the saddle post a couple cm’s. 2. Moved the brake levers a bit further up. 3. Changed the degree of the saddle slightly. 4. Have been playing with the RP23 shock rebound and on down journeys turn to propedal 1 for more play. 5. Still need to check the pressure in my fork as I have lost 6kg since it has been set so might be too hard.
  7. This is the first time I have experienced anything like this on the mountain and we ride every Thursday around the same time.
  8. We were still on singal hill road (tar), 50m from the Kremat turnoff, around 7.30pm. The attack happened just up from the Kremat.
  9. Went for a ride last night on table mountain and signal hill with some mates and we came across two incidents. First one was at the base on Deer Park, a guys car was broken into and a scuffle broke out with some onlookers they gave chase and the cops were called, didn’t stay to find out what happened. Second one happened on Signal Hill, we came across to young guys that had been watching the sunset and were attacked by two guys with rocks and were robbed of their bags and cell phones. They called the cops as well, but it was too dark to chase the guys. Eventful night, on a very unsafe mountain! The ride was awesome tho.
  10. Got confirmation from Morewood, they can do either red or blue. What does everyone think? (i do have red hubs)
  11. First owner had the bike for a while and it was stolen from his spot. He got a case number and the bike was paid out. Somewhere down the line, the bike is sold to the second owner. All decals removed and new parts. He attends a race and the first owner recognizes the bike as his own, and approaches owner two. The second guy says he bought it legally and has no reason to return it. The case is reopened and the second owner decides he doesn’t want it any more and sells it to the third owner. A legal case is instituted and after a long fight the second owner is cleared and as the first owner has been remunerated the frame gets cleared. From what I understand throughout the legal thing the frame was hanging up somewhere. The third owner eventually gets the frame and soon realizes the bike is too heavy and decides to sell it. It’s been hanging around for the past year and is now mine.
  12. can always go for a 120-150mm revelation.
  13. What front derailleur would be better, as the frame takes both top pull and bottom pull? Have read bottom is a better unit?
  14. @ The Crow RockShox Revelation Fork 110 -140 "Straight Dual air will be plusher and more rewarding when going hard. You don't need travel adjust on that bike" - would like to reduce the height for hard climbing, would the adjustable fork not be a better option? I will use my current Hope2/Crest rims. "Hope2 Yes / Crest not so much. They are brilliant rims but XC aimed. A Shova will yield better rewards with an Arch rim" - maybe at a later stage wont have the cash for new rims now. Thomson Seat Post - Reward yourself with a dropper - again cash issue R2k for KS dropper, maybe later.
  15. It is! And has had an interesting history!
  16. Going to take it slow and only buy used if possible. Scouring ebay! If it's a winner, I will sell the other steed – maybe/possibly. Headset - do you know what size?
  17. I have the frame, now the hard work. I have decided to document my first build on TheHub with the hope that the community can offer assistance and advice while I build her up. This is all new to me, and my technical knowledge goes as far as changing a tubeless tire and fitting pedals. So first off, here is the frame in all its glory, not looking the part, but she will soon be off for her spray job. I have asked Morewood to go wild and take the initiative with the colour. They can surprise me. Next step are to find parts, this is what I am hoping to build her up with: Full 2011 XT 3X10 groupset – includes brakes, bb, gearing, cassette and chain. RockShox Revelation Fork 110 -140 Fox RP23 Boost Valve – 200mm X 50mm I will use my current Hope2/Crest rims. Specialized Format Saddle Thomson Seat Post Pedals – XT SPD Stem and Handlebar, still undecided Questions: What would be the best headset to use? What length riser bar should I look for?
  18. Would a dedicated area for user bikes and bike builds not be a good idea? Would also be useful when someone new is looking to build a new bike or service their own bike and needs some technical direction.
  19. Sorted - got a Morewood Shova.
  20. Hi Was hoping someone had these to sell used, don't have the cash to buy new: 1. Rear Shock – Fox RP23 – 200mm X 50mm (7.875" x 2") 2. RockShox Revelation U-Turn 120-150 - 1 1/8" Anyone have anything lying around?
  21. Seriously? Bummer. Well then i guess the light blue/green is the next best colour.
  22. All in the R700 cost, but better to choose a current colour scheme.
  23. emailed them the question. thanks.
  24. the dark metallic blue looks awesome - DO IT. so many choices!
