when i pedal it is smooth, no scratchy feeling, or chunky feeling, it pedals smoothly, just doesn't move freely.....hence the feeling that i am doing more work on the bike hey?? Suppose Lance would say increased resistance = increased performance

Is it normal that my crank and BB don't spin freely when spun backwards?? I had the bike in at Mervs a month or so back and they said that the BB was full of gunk and that it was also dead so they wanted to replace it and the crank. I said no they should just clean and lube it... spun a little easier, but now it is sorta tight again when spun backwards?? Surely this is not right and it making me work harder when i ride? Someone got some info?

*BUMP* Can anyone give any sorta info? Should i get some crank extractors and rip open it up?

Hi hubberoos..... I fell off my bike about 3 weeks back....riding a trance 1 with Race Face evolution cranks...and BB for XC and AM. I buckled my front rim and i thought that was all that was wrong with my baby...nevertheless i was busy cleaning her today in preparation for replacing the front rim....but as i turned the crank i realized that it did not flow freely....it was so stiff you could turn it with some effort, but thats it, when you stopped the crank stopped turning.... I removed the Crank Bolt and gave it a few taps with my rubber mallet (rubber mallets are great for hitten things that are broken). this loosened the cranks up considerably and now it is moving more freely.....but still not like it should. if you remove your chain and spin the crank on a normally working system you notice that it can spin very easily and carry on with it's own momentum....but not mine I am supposed to be racing the 94.7 on sat.....MTB..... what can I do to fix this or should i take it to the LBS Please help.

well yeah, this weekend i got plans to do small ride in the morning with my Mrs......we will ride at Groenies... Next weekend i haven't got riding plans yet, but if we going on a Recon mission, then I would rather do it with just the guys, incase we run into problems with the local "hijackers in training" Although everytime we drive past them hills my Mrs always asks if we gonna ever ride there.....eish, she gonna be mad if we go alone... Maybe an early Sat morning ride cos she will be working then..yeah? Next week Sat Morning?
