Red top, White helmet. Black and orange Venge bike. I will wear neon yellow or orange socks. If it is cold I might wear long pants which will then hide the socks. White sun protectors on my arms. Will wear a Go Pro camera as I need to film my friends demise.... Deep section wheels (or at least the rear wheel) Oh and I got this new red light on the back of my bike. When it flashes it looks like a formula 1 car in the rain. You cannot miss me trust me.

Ok how about this question:- Your actual time. How is this calculated? Does your time start when you go over the start line and your chip goes bwheeeep .... or when the gun goes off? If it does going over the start line I will wait 10 seconds after he has gone over and then just stick to his wheel forever.

Hi guys I am racing an old friend. We are at the same level. We have a bet going on who is going to win. For those who have done this race... Say we are together with 5km to go still what is the best place to attack for the win?? How is the run in?
  12. Freddy von Lierde Sebastion Kienle Dirk Bockel Cunnama 6th Kyle to win his age group
  13. Look it is all relative... Raynard did Roth in 08h07 (or something) and came in top 5 at Kona. Sebastian Kienle did Roth in over 8 hours (only just) and came in top 5 at Kona. Pete Jacobs did a 08h02 & 08h09 at Roth and won Kona. Routes are changed, weather changes there are too many variables. Andreas did a 07h40 Roth but have never won Kona.... My point is don't say a guy who has done a sub 8 hour race is too slow to go top 5 or even win in Kona...... James is South African. He knows the heat and it has been proven that on 80% of the time it is a runner that wins Kona and not an uber biker... Ask Chris Lieto and Vanhoenacker. But lets wait and see....

No. In a group of 200 or whatever no one will care. Just don't sit on second wheel off the front and expect not to have to take a turn. Hang in the middle/back of the bunch and relax. Focus on keeping your lines rather and not piss the outoppies off who owns the sport of cycling. Then if you have strength later on and feel you can contribute go for it. Oh and keep your eyes open if it is wet and fast then **** is likely to happen at some point .
  15. Well honestly if anyone deserves it then it is Andreas. He has like 4 podiums in the last 5 years or something......... Unfortunately I think the mechanics are changing. Usually you only saw oldish (34+) guys win it... Now days it is the young guns that run the sport.... Kienle, von Lierde and these guys... I think Alexander is too old at 40.
  16. Its a Samsung TV. It has Wifi and can receive a Wifi signal (like a laptop). So my ADSL is connected to a router which sends out a wireless signal. Anything in my house can therefore access internet like you would with your laptop in a coffee shop (TV, PS3, Cell Phones and tablet). Only difference is that this ADSL line is a 7meg line so it is lie Garf at Ironman - super fast.... So we watch youtube HD videos without lag etc. I will therefore go to youtube and look for the live ESPN race streaming. Its ok quality.

Well maybe its a blessing to ride into the wind if its wet and downhill. #bettertocrashat35km/hourthan70km
  18. Well any person who has done an ironman in under 08h00 has to be a contender.... He has won Challenge Roth and finished 2nd a year later in which is arguably the biggest race outside Kona..... Yes maybe he is a bit young still and don't have the experience of the other guys but I really think he can surprise with a top 10 easily and even close to the number 6 spot which is my prediction... Obviously Van Lierde is not well know. All I can say is submit to the Garf on Monday when he has won. So after the drive back from the Amashova to Bfn I will watch this race on Sunday evening. Gonna be awesome
  19. Well you tube has live channels... My TV is on my ADSL line so I watch realtime HD channels without any lag (most of the time). Andreas and Pete have been injured and so have Alexander... Not to say they wont feature but I saw van Lierde race Abu Dhabi and he destroyed the field (including Macca and Llanos) in very hot temps.... I think James will do well. Remember these guys race for a living (sponsors and prize money). If they race a normal IM and it becomes clear they wont be top 2, they normally quit so that they can race quicker again. If they had to finish every race then they would not race as often. Kona is different. Just getting a top 10 in Kona is like winning another IM.
  20. I will put my money on Frederick van Lierde for the win.... James for a top 6. Is Kona behind us? In other words when can we watch the live streaming? Sunday evening?
  21. I am also looking for a riding buddy. Blonde hair, blue eyes, 34DD.

Well for me they do. Just remember that you have to go faster than 30km/hour for them to take effect .... I have been experimenting with normal wheels, 50mm and 88mm and even a disk in the last few weeks. If its flat and or downhill the more carbon definitely helps... If you can still be in the group at the end of the first climb with deep wheels you are set for a good run in I am sure...

So is it fair to say it is better to ride with my 88mm sections?
