  1. there's also a guy that apparently took 11:31:56 to complete the 27km
  2. Did they get your time right VS your Garmin?
  3. Quoting from Tygerberg MTB's newsletter: DUAL SLALOM on a mountainbike? Oh yes you bet! We are busy busy busy with an awesome super duper Slalom track at Nitida. Anybody ever done Slaloms? Well, I'm building so any novice can ride it and the maniacs can race it as a challenge! So no excuses. 1st race may well be in 2 weeks so stay tuned & READ your newsletters! *~* It has a bi-cross over/under and starts on top of a ramp *~* roughly 500metres of sheer exhilaration but will measure it precisely.
  4. hectic, what a mess!
  5. Well, might still be worth taking a look. Wonder if it'll be open to non Tygerberg MTB members
  6. Finally! But they did screw up royally. My father came in 1 minute behind me, I see him in the ladies results, not the men's... he's never going to live this down!
  7. same here
  8. it's just outside d'ville - so not too far from Majik. remind me later and I'll point it out on a map
  9. Unfortunately I don't have a Garmin - just a regular cycle computer and I'm not even sure it's accurate all the time. Plus it obviously only times when the wheels are turning, so doesn't take into account my stops... I'm just really curious to know what my finishing time was and also it's nice to have a photo from the event (and yes, there was DEFINITELY a photographer on the 27km, maybe he cleared out early like the rest of the crew ) Wish they'd get their A's into G.
  10. According to the latest Tygerberg MTB newsletter: An exciting new Dual-Slalom track is taking shape at Nitida. Carefully sculpted high-side berms are being crafted to teach the youngsters (or anyone really!) how to handle their bikes around the twisty track. Expect it to be finished within two weeks, ready for the first Tygerberg Dual Slalom Challenge Cup!
  11. Totally, and I'm looking forward to the Atherton project, always a lot of fun...
  12. trying their best to look as hardcore as possible kit looks pretty swanky though
  13. indeed, there is buggerall space there for trimming down. the most you can trim it down is about 10mm each side...
  14. The tagline for Truvativ's new catalogue is "wider is better". Quoting: More bar means more control, more power, more balance, more comfort—basically more everything you want. So we’ve added wider bar options across the board. Simple as that. I've just posted the riser bars: Noir T40: 640 & 700mm wide, 15 & 30mm rise (CF) Noir T30: 680 & 700mm wide, 25mm rise (CF) Noir T20: 680mm wide, 20 & 40mm rise (CF) Stylo T40: 700mm wide, 15 & 25mm rise Stylo T30: 700mm wide, 20 & 30mm rise Stylo T20: 680mm wide, 20 & 30mm rise Stylo T10: 620 $ 680mm wide, 20 & 30mm rise BooBar: 740 & 780mm wide, 20 & 30mm rise AKA: 710mm wide, 25mm rise Holzfeller: 730mm wide, 20, 30 & 40mm rise Hussefelt: 700mm wide, 20, 30 & 40mm rise Hussefelt Comp: 680mm wide, 20, 30 & 40mm rise Nice - wider options all round and still some narrow options for those who want it - pretty much something for everyone I am quite keen on the Holzfeller or AKA, as I'm finding the BooBar a tiny bit too wide and low for my liking (watch this space for a good condition set of BooBars soon )
  15. I am no freerider but this sounds great watching this space. which mag by the way?
  16. whoot! decent website too! edit: spoke to soon. website looks good and navigates well, but there are a couple of errors
  17. now for the next question - i definitely saw a photographer, wonder where and when the photos'll be posted
  18. Vigne-a-Vigne site says: Please bear with us while we sort out 2011 race results issues. We hope to have these results displayed by Friday. Use of the word "issues" bugs me a little
  19. hey the weekend is fast approaching, where's the details?

    Super D

nice thing about Majik: start right at the top, fast rolling section, then a short climb, then lots of singletrack to the end nice thing about Contermans: start at the top of the green route, 100% singletrack with some nice flat pedally bits and a climb in the middle - last section do lower black route, end on the tabletop. speak to TBS about a shuttle maybe?

    Super D

With Majik we'd have to get buy-in from Tygerberg MTB, with Contermans?

    Super D

Here's a Super D race: Look at the couple of guys from 0:31 - this is the one danger with Super-D - they case the jumps. A downhiller would know to clear those, or if not jump them, simply roll over. Being mostly XC / trail riders without the jumping experience, these guys jump the first one and case the 2nd. Still - looks like moerse fun!!!!

    Super D

I was just wondering, do we actually have any Super D races in SA? I think Cape Town is well suited - Contermanskloof, Majik Forest, Tokai, Jonkershoek, etc all have the potential for great Super D courses, no? And surely there are a lot of MTBikers out there who don't want to ride downhill, but are looking for something a bit more gravity orientated and fun? For those that don't know: Super D is a racing format that's sort of a cross between DH and XC - mostly gravity-assisted course (possibly with a short climb or 2 to deter the DHers from entering) with technical bits (but not super technical, like jumps or drops)... What do you guys think? Untapped market in SA?
