  1. yes but will it make you fast?
  2. Damn those pedals are nice. These wheels were supposed to be the last piece of the upgrade-my-AM-rig puzzle, but I've just come across a set of Avid Elixir 7 brakes, practically brand new (the pads look virgin) - R1 000 (without rotors). Must..... resist.......
  3. @Airborne yes I did. Ordered full set from www.dialdbikes.co.za Just bought myself a Hope skewer to go with the rear wheel - I never thought something as arb as a skewer could be so impressive
  4. You guys sure are making me feel confident about my latest purchase
  5. Hart doesn't have the rainbow stripes any more. So possibly Minnaar? Could the Kiwi not also be Cam Cole? Wanted could mean that those dudes are all in hot demand...
  6. Dial'd bikes does Dakine. If it's not listed on their site, it's worth dropping them a mail to see if it's available and if they can get it for you: http://dialdbikes.co.za/dakine.html
  7. Let's revive this thread, shall we... look what's about to be ordered

  9. Hairy, thanks - but those reviews are for the previous model, which uses the Sun Ringle MTX29 rim (and I've read them all . Their aren't any reviews out for the 2013 wheelsets yet, which come in 3 models - TR, AM and DH. TR is 25mm, AM 27mm and DH 29mm, all using the Sun Ringle Inferno rims. The DH only comes with a 150mm rear hub, so isn't an option. 2012 NP wheelset / Sun Ringlé MTX 29 rim - 29mm outer, 22.5mm inner, 570g 2013 NP AM wheelset / Sun Ringlé Inferno 27 - 27mm outer, 22.3mm inner, 480g
  10. No-one else got anything to add?
  11. Nice looking wheels
  12. A friend of mine just pointed out that I should look at the inner width: The 2012 NP wheelset uses the Sun Ringlé MTX 29 rim - 29mm outer, 22.5mm inner, 570g The 2013 NP AM wheelset uses the Sun Ringlé Inferno 27 - 27mm outer, 22.3mm inner, 480g Inner width difference is 0.2mm - so the grip should be the same, but a much lighter wheel overall...
  13. too narrow - I was pretty sold on the 2012 wheelset at 29mm wide... but 27mm? eish... I currently ride 31.7mm wide rims, love the grip but not the resistance, so I want to go narrower, but maybe not so narrow.
  14. I have the opportunity to get my hands on the 2013 Nukeproof AM Wheelset - only thing putting me off at the moment is the 27mm rim width. Only problem is, the DH wheelset is 29mm width, which I'd be happy with, but with a 150mm rear hub. What do you guys think? Is 27mm pushing it? It's a Sun Ringle Inferno rim...
  15. So you want to look fast in the parking lot?
  16. Nope - as I hinted at earlier on the thread I ended up getting a Dartmoor Simple chain guide (http://dialdbikes.co.za/dartmoor-simple-chain-guide.html), which has made my drivetrain ultra reliable - no more dropping chains! So for now it's still 2x9 - the idea to go 1x10 is shelved, for now! (Still want to revisit it in the future
  17. Err, if you ship from USA to SA customs will also knock you...
  18. I think I haven't explained myself correctly - this is not another "yawn" 26 VS 27.5 VS 29 thread, I am asking a genuine question. The article mentioned the "disadvantages" of 26er / 29er wheels, but didn't actually mention what those disadvantages is I am honestly curious if anyone feels there ARE disadvantages, and what those are. For example, for AM riding I would think the disadvantage with 29er wheels would be keeping the chain stays short enough and the increased flex 29er wheels have But I honestly can't think of the disadvantages of 26" wheels?
  19. Rocky Mountain just launched their 150mm travel 2013 Altitude - it's using the 650B wheel size exclusively. Pinkbike takes a look at it here: http://www.pinkbike.com/news/2013-Rocky-Mountain-Altitude-27.5-First-Ride.html My question is this: in either this article, or one on VitalMTB about the new Altitude (I can't remember), they mentioned the 650B wheel size as having none of the disadvantages of 29" or 26" wheels. I found this interesting, especially since there is a big push amongst manufacturers towards 650B on some of their bikes (an even bigger push it seems than when 29" launched - back then manufacturers would launch a 29er version of a certain model alongside its 26er counterpart... so far Scott and Rocky Mountain have launched 650B models that are exclusively 650B - no corresponding 26" model) What would you guys say are the disadvantages of either 26" or 29" wheels, for "all-mountain" bikes, that the 650B wheel size addresses?
  20. Just my 2c, I am very happy with the Deity Dirty30 bars at 760mm wide and 25mm rise. I had Truvativ Boobars, but at 780mm wide and 20mm rise I found them just just too low and too wide, even though I'm quite a big dude. The Deity bars are pure bling - get them at www.dialdbikes.co.za It's all personal preference.
  21. Had a short ride with 'em this weekend - very comfortable, and once in place they stay put! Will report back after a longer ride...

  23. Need a new rear wheel - expensive option is a whole new wheelset (looking into a few options, including Sun Ringle Charger and Nukeproof Generators), but if I can't make that happen I'm thinking a budget option could be the Sun Ringle MTX29 mated to a Novatec hub This is the model I'm looking at, the D042SB http://www.novatecwheels.com/novatec/english/p_show.php?sid=37 Anyone know if they're any good, and if they'll survive the abuse? Novatec's site isn't exactly informative
  24. I have the Flux now and mega happy with it. I've seen the 661 lid in the flesh and it's a good looking helmet. For Fox, get it at buycycle.co.za, for 661 dialdbikes.co.za
