  1. Tokai/ Silvermine, Bottelery, All the trails in Grabouw & Stellenbosch,Contermans/Hillcrest/Meerendal. I had a thread about hooking up, I was on tight schedule with the missus, lol. I'm coming down in 6 weeks time, so we can hook up then Was going to ask if I could possibly borrow a spare bike Then I don't have to hassle to much with bringing mine down, as I don't have a car when I'm there
  2. Having recently ridden extensively in Cape Town, I can honestly say the trails are so much "harder" for want of a word and way more Jeep track. KZN trails are way more "plush" with more single track. This is not refering to the technical side, if that makes sense.
  3. Where can I find an actual schedule of the three days of events, the website is not working
  4. Don't be a stick in the mud oh mighty Oracle, but it does make sense, maybe it would have to be a perceived poll
  5. Thats perfect, thanks for that. Will look forward to it
  6. They are good :-) Rode my other bike yesterday that has them, and nearly went over the bars Braking is overrated anyway
  7. I must agree it needs to be done by the right people, thankfully the chap in Durban/ Hillcrest that did mine is a avid MTBer, triathlete and Physio. As mentioned before, I just need to make another appointment and can have been told to I can come back as many times neccesary in getting it set up. Sorry that yours did not go as according to plan.
  8. You sure about this? Giba Blue route springs to mind. I will have to disagree with you here, Skills clinics are there for a reason, they do help, gosh I've been riding bikes since I was a kid as well and still I had bad habits with cornering, hitting jumps, taking switchbacks, just because you have ridden a BMX/ MTB in the past as a kid does not mean you now have the skills to MTB properly, sherbert I've recently retaught myself how to corner and hit jumps properly. This I did by a lot of reading and watching tons of videos, what I thought was correct was not. Nothing like starting with the correct techniques, so get the lighty to a skills clinic as well.
  9. Next time you go, please give us a shout, would love to ride there with someon in the know
  10. Just had a look now, for the Challenge you are riding only 50km/ day, that to me is not good value. So for a extra R500 you get to ride an extra 50km, huh. Not sure what the type of riding is like.
  11. Exactly, its house of cards waiting to crumble.
  12. Its the same for everything, like football in the UK for example, it has priced the working man out of being able to go to the game or even buying a season ticket, the people that support it the most. Instead the grounds are now being filled with what Roy Keane labled as the "prawn sandwich brigade", same as the people saying that "MTBing is the new golf" The sad thing is it will not get better, the people that vote with their wallets wont do the races, making the ones that are already elite, even more so and more expensive. So the vicious circle continues. Its a no win situation for the average earner I'm afraid. So sick of hearing this, if you can't afford it don't do it bollocks speech. Half the guys doing these races can't even ride properly to begin with, but hey they are paying so who cares.
  13. The same people that think MTBing/ Cycling is the new golf, I mean WTF.
  14. Yes, its all the amazing riding we have here, best in the country.
  15. Sticks and stones may break my bones but words they cannot harm me
  16. Depends on how accurate you want to be
  17. Take piece of string, wrap around wheel and tyre to get the circumference and hey presto you are in business, mark the string and measure it on a ruler/ tape measure, this will give you your circunference. Then doing some simple arithmetic(with the newly aquired measurement) you can take the circumference to get the actual diameter of your wheel for your Polar. Here in case you not sure of the maths part. Good luck
  18. I forgot all about that as a Town, Im with you on this
