  1. Yeah, thats exactly what it does. Just wondering how well the Momsen bat wings clamp onto the seatpost
  2. Would that only be for a handlebar mount?
  3. Thats pretty much all the bottle cage mounting options you could ever need
  4. I saw these the other day at CWC not sure which is a better option, seat post or saddle mounted bottle cage. Just another spanner in the works
  5. Looks good, will be using it for sure during the next 10 days. Is it possible to get the maps sold at the trail centres?
  6. I've lost about 8kg since the beginning of Nov, put on about a 1kg over the Xmas period. Ive also only had about 9 beers at the most in the last 2 and a half months, those being in the last week. Need to get to goal weight of 75kg, at 81kg now.
  7. Was gonna ask if that what they are, looks big enough to fit a couple beers and keep them on ice, the seats look like they could be bar stools they are so big
  8. That tandem looks the business, I might even be seen with the wife on one
  9. I have ridden Holla a few times and got lost on a couple occasions, which was not the end of the world as the riding/ trails made up for it. Since I have been down trying out as many of the Western Capes MTB trails as I can, it seems that it is not only Holla that has bad route markings, I understand the upkeep issues , with Holla and some of the trails in the Western Cape being working farms, but surely if a decent signage was put up in the first place it should remain in place for a long time, its normally a quick fix. It becomes a pain having to try figure out if you're on the right route or jut being able to get your bearings all the time, I'm not saying that Holla is like this, but Tokai sure is. I was riding around like a headless chicken most of the time, in the hope I was going the right way. I went to Bottlelary yesterday(see image attached), and I have to say the markings there were exceptional, the way it should be at all trails. Clear markings, map and additional info all included . I feel you need to think along the lines of a rookie/ newbie rider to the trails, when it comes to trail markings. I've had guys here( Cape Town) try to explain to me where to go but without having prior knowledge of the trails, it was like a load of gibberish being spoken to me. Another things I think would be fantastic idea, was small trail maps that you could purchase and take with you on a ride( can also become a memento ). I've 'been having to jot down a trail route now just in case, not an issue, but a pain in the arse in this digital age, we don't all have Gamin's I do understand there will be a cost involved, that there will also be times when markings will fall down etc, but if you do them to last a while, I don't see how they can not be there in 5 years time.
  10. Absolute tragic & unnecessary loss of life, RIP cyclists.
  11. Hey Flymango, good to meet you. Sorry about the wifes mechanical, and pity it cut the ride short. I was running so late to take the wife to work this afternoon, so couldn't do the coffee unfortunately. The trail were great and the route markings were fantastic, how it should be done in my opinion having ridden a few places now, so would like to go back for another ride. I won't be doing the blue loop again thats for sure, but all round a great experience and some stunning scenary I'm in Cape Town till about the 12 of Jan, so got lots more riding to fit in, possibly arrange a day to meet up? :clap:Will be doing Oak Valley & Oak Lane(Lebanon) I'm told also has some sick single track Where else have you ridden?
  12. Got fairly lost, but had a decent ride. Its fairly difficult to find your way around without being shown it, the trail markings are not the greatest . I was bricking it in some sections, not knowing if I was going up the right way, but seems you can go up and down most of the trails(except the Downhills) Will need to get another longer ride in there to try get to do all the sections and this time take a map with me Can you get to the mast?
  13. Also got the wife with me, she will be testing out her new wheels I got her for xmas . So it will be more of a scenic ride then a training ride. Only reason I wanted to go earlier is that its been getting stinking hot so early. I'll be on a white Giant Trance.
  14. I'm riding there tomorrow as well. Should be there at about the same time as yourself I couldn't find anything on the Bottlelary website to say it was closed, was hoping to be there before 8am to ride.
  15. I'm just checking out the Bottelary website and it says there are 5 starting points, which one too choose? Bottelary Hills MTB Which loop/ route would be recommended to do?
  16. Where would be the ideal place to take the wife for some MTBing today, somewhere with not too much climbing and a chilled scenic ride? I was thinking Meerendal?
  17. What brakes are those that both front and rear fail at the same time?
  18. Thanks for that, If I could be so bold as to ask if you could mark on the map I attached which directions I should be going, It would be much appreciated. Another question is a map available at Tokai that I could take with me or should it be easy enough to follow with the signage? I also don't wanna b getting in the way of the downhillers. Whats at the berm?
  19. I'm going to go ride Tokai this arvo for the first time, is there a particular route/ trail to follow that can get in the best of everything, looking at a 30km ride? Just looking at the map now, and just not sure which way to go, also taking into account the up & down trail directions. Tokai Trail Map.pdf
  20. So I finally got to ride Hillcrest today, this after a false start at Tokai this morning . I lost the screw for my seat post clamp somewhere between Durban & Cape Town(Doh),and stupidly only checked once I got to Tokai, anyway will get back there another day. Hillcrest was great, lots of climbing involved on some fairly rocky jeep track up to the masts, somehow hooked into the "black" route at the top, then down on some fast flowing rocky single track(had my first tumble in ages here) to the bottom near Kliprug, should have been on the red route, but took a couple wrong tuns along the way due to routes not being properly marked(maybe it was just me), but this seems to be a common issue at most trails from the sounds of it, always seems simple to the people that ride there often Maybe a route map along the trail if possible is one idea. I then somehow got back onto the red route and made my way back to the restuarant, then did the same route again , me thinks its better to ride there with someone that actually knows all the routes. It will also make sense to be riding by 6.00am rather as it was pretty hot out there, and youre completly exposed most of the time I will certainly be back again, need to see more and try hook up all the routes properly. Are there maps available to buy at the Restaurant/ Coffee Shop? It was closed today so not sure.
  21. Do you need any member boards being a tourist when riding the trails around Majik, Contermanskloof, Hillcrest etc? Do you buy one for the day and it gives you access to all the trails for a day fee of R25 Also which is the best place to park if you wanna do a loop and connect the best of the all the trails available(maybe 40-50km), cause from what I've seen via the Tygerberg MTB website it is possible. Anyone doing any rides tomorrow morning?
  22. Been there, done that and came back to a filthy, stinking city. It was not like that when I left in 1998, fast forward 10 years and I walked past my old work in West Street, and it stank of pee, the streets were filthy, buildings in a state of disrepair, and people now squatting there. Yes certain areas(beach) have been upgraded and improved , while the majority has gone to shite. I used to frequent a restaurant as a kid in Durban called the Tropicale, at the park near the Rift, I drove down there about 3 weeks ago just to have a look see, and lo and behold it to too seems to be a filthy mess, much like the rest of the city. I love Durban, If I could live here for the rest of my life I would, but unfortunately Cape Town beckons.
  23. No Pics of the wonderfully clean City, The city of Durban has gone to shite, without a doubt. I'll be in the Cape Town tomorrow so will be able to compare and get back to you
