Not hung up on 8 speed at all, my old GT avalanche that I got while living in the UK was an 8speed. So I was told by this particular bike shop that they were completly phasing the 8 speed out, and that I would have to upgrade to 9 speed. Which is a total lie. Why are new bikes still comin out with 8 speed? So I get told one thing, then I'm told in no uncertain terms would they be phasing out 8 speed as there has to be a bottom end market. Im fully aware there is 10 speed out now, its more directed at the xc racing people, Im not totally convinced with it yet(10 speed) I dont really need an extra 3 gears - 27 gears does me fine, I was also happy with the 8 speed. but as Im now just converted said GT to 9 speed its happy days - The problem I had is that the GT avalanche 3.0 2010 model only comes as 8 speed and reatils at 5k, yet I was qouted 5k for the 2011 model which is now 9 speed, How can they still charge the same price, they refused to give me discount? Its all good, the wife goes tomorrow to take delivery of her Silverback Saturn 2011 9 speed which is a better specked bike then the Gt avalanche anyway, So it all happy days Just dont like to be lied to, and have arrogant sales people try spin me some bollocks and also change their stories to suit

Gosh, I was like a junky_the doctor just kept giving them to me - granted this was while I lived in the UK, doctors didnt care to much for patients, just kind gave you what you asked for and sent you on your merry way, lol.

Thats the thing I do go train at 5pm in the evenings, but still no luck, thats after training for almost two hours. My mind is still so active, my sleeping patterns are all over the place. Ive not had a good nights sleep in weeks & weeks now - I also think I have sleep apnea, which doesnt help either(that could be the same with you) I dont think I could ever smoke again I think Ive passed that point. Just the sleeping to sort out I think Im the same as Covie - a very overactive mind.

As well as paying for the brand, we are paying still for carbon technology which has been around for almost ten years or longer - These companies know the are ripping off the consumer - Would be interesting to find out what the actual cost of these bikes are to make? I know the mould would be initailly expensive but with a world wide market they would pay for themselves very quickly. I was involved in 5-axis CNC machining so know the proceeses involved in making these kinds of moulds. Im sure it would also be easy enough to take a copy of a bikes frame and to reproduce it. Its the same with the lenses from rudy project, all done on 5 axis cnc milling machines - The technology is now old, yet u still pay for it.

Ok its now been over three weeks of not smoking I feel fantastic, The only thing now is I'm suffering from some sort of sleep depravation/disorder . I slept fine before I stopped. I've been eating better and training more, yet i'm still having trouble sleeping. So much so I was hallucinating the other day through lack of sleep. What could be causing this? Im not eating any junk food, drinking lots of water yet Im lucky if I get 3/4 hrs decent sleep in a night. Take last night for example, maybe it was my fault a bit,I had a nap at 4 - 5pm from being so tired from the previous night. I had a homemade bannana, strawberry & peanut butter smoothie at 5pm, had salad rolls for dinner at 6.30pm and then a few sips of my wifes can of coke(i've been drinking water & fresh juice only) and I also had my first choclate bar(bar one)in three weeks at about 9.30pm. I had no coffee either, yet I dont think Ive slept all night - Its driving me crazy, as its making me too tired to train & ride, I feel exhausted all the time. Before I stopped smoking I slept fine, so Im pretty sure its not something else thats suddenly causing this sleep deprevation this. I've thought of maybe taking a quater of a sleeping tablet, but not sure its a good idea as they kinda space you out.Any ideas or reasons would greatly be appreciated

Dont get me wrong they look fantastic, the full suspension is a beautiful looking machine, but as with most things cycling, it will be overpriced, the whole carbon thing is crazy, it not "new technology" anymore, yet they still price it like that . Most bikes are way overpriced anyway. Just my 2c
