  1. Great service from all the staff
  2. I have the Giant and love it! All about personal choice though and you MUST test ride both so that you don't have post purchase cognative dissonance.
  3. HL,I would also be angry and most cyclist's know only from experience that you do NOT send a bike to Cajee's for a service or repairs. I don't think I would even buy a bike from them as I am sure they would have a problem with assembling the dam thing. In saying that I have bought shoes, shirts tools and parts from them and as previously mentioned bargained them down to a decent price and I have been happy with my purchases. Although what frustrates me is when people say they can fix or service your bike and they do a **** job not once but 2 or 3 times! There is nothing worse than being in a race on a recently seviced bike and it is not performing like it should. Be honest and upfront and say yes I sold you the bike but there is no harm in saying please get it repaired or serviced at a LBS that knows what they are doing! This approach would be less damaging to their reputation.
  4. I use Assos for road riding as my road saddle is a liitle thin... For Mtb I use Giordana which is half the price and extremely comfortable on my gobi saddle.. Firstly one mtb ride/race and you rip the Assos equals expensive outing.Very possible due to the nature of the sport! In my opinion if you are a roadie worth it but if MTB look at other decent brands at half the price.
  5. Not sure....you will have to chat to the guru's I agree value for money The Anthem is the way forward... my ass and back can't stop thanking me
  6. I was in the same boat as you with the XTC,any race over 40km and my back was stuffed. Turning point was Karkloof 60km,nearly broke me in half!! What I have done is taken all my upgraded parts off my XTC and put it on the dual suspension frame. On doing the exercise I found it very difficult to find just a dual suspension frame only. I was able to convince a bike shop to strip a brand new Anthem Frame for me. Very happy although it is heavier but I plan to upgrade my wheelset shortly which should make a difference. Other option which a mate of mine has done and it is an unbelievable machine is the specialised carbon dual suspension frame and fork for about 40k. Hot!! If it is in your budget go for that!!
  7. I am in the fortunate position of having a 26" dual suspension as well as a 29" dual suspension. Both have given me alot of joy to ride and are definitly a different riding experience. So I wake up in the morning and decide what route to take then decide which bike to take. It's awesome!!! Only problem, Sani2C coming up and which bike do I take......
  8. Standoff, Will be picking mine up on Sat,well bought the XTC hardtail 3 months ago did Karkloof and nearly broke me in half on the hardtail so sold the XTC frame and wacking XT components on the Anthem X1 29er frame, long way round but looking forwrd to doing a nice long ride on Sunday.
  9. There you are Covie! Look what you've done now Mate nothing to apologise for...
  10. I have changed the ad, Check it out. I really want to sell the bike but if I don't it has been entertaining anyway!
  11. None of the abvove.... There is no DEEP meaning. I was just enquiring in respect of the lack of Manners AND Etiquette I had experienced. And just wanted to get feedback on what fellow hubbers felt.
  12. Whew, love the debate... Ok what I plan to do this morning is go back to my ad take out the word "Bargain" then take some time to justify why I think my bike is work 20K. Even though I have advertised the bike as a 2009 bike the only 2009 part on the bike is the frame. If you look at the spec on a 2009 Anthem 2 bike you will see the upgrades that I have done in the last two years. And yes agreed if I start negotiating with a serious buyer I will discuss the bike in full with him/her.I see the ad as an introduction to serious buyers. That is why I have put at the bottom of the post pm me e-mail address for more pictures. So check out the ad in an hour or so and if anybody still has an opnion well just be polite and tactful with your opinion.
  13. Clearly I am not in sales, marketing or advertising as the only reason why I put in "Bargain" as I thought it would be catchy stand out and enhance the sale So lets just say lesson learn't fact's only! Right Balsie back to the drawing board.....
  14. Hey Ladies and Gents, Thanks for the feedback and advice! I am glad to see that sanity prevails.....I know I should ignore the comments but jeepers it just rubs me up th wrong way. From the response to this topic there are a few of these idiots around but hey majority response is all good.
  15. Hi All Hubbers, I posted an ad in the clssified this morning with the title"Giant Anthem-Bargain" One hubber very politley said that he thought that my price was not a bargain which was fair enough.Very tactfully done. The next person comes along makes a post and literally killed the sale with his comments (go and check the ad) Personally I would not do this and would prefer to maybe PM the person and advise him/her to revise the description and relook the price or suggest a reasonable price. What is the consensus in terms of etiquette? I know I can't restrict what is being said but surely this is uncalled for. Am I being over sensitive as I am aware this is a public forum. There is decent ways of doing things and yes if my price is too high then the bike won't sell and I will then obviously have to drop my price. But to post on my ad that I am taking a fat chance blag blah basically destroyed any chance of me selling the bike at any price. Would appreciate all feedback.
  16. Not disputing the problems that need ironing out,I am sure the organisers are well aware of issues from this year and will rectify them for next year, majority caused by the planting of grass on the fields. Somebody earlier on in the thread pointed out that R200 was alot for entry fee and no goodie bag etc and they expected more. I just pointed out that we should appreciate the awesome track and maybe that is where a portion of R200 went end of story.
  17. Yes it is maintained all year round which I am sure is funded partly by the all year round fee if you want to ride in your own time. My point is that I am sure a portion of the R200 will be used for covering the balance and the building the new track which there was for the 60km race.I just think we must be alot more greatful for an awesome event and quit whining!!
  18. Lesson No 1: If the race is shorter doesn't mean it is easier....didn't give the race the respect it deserved. Lesson No 2: Will never ever do that race on a hardtail again....anybody want to buy a 29er hardtail frame? Organisation well there were a few glitches BUT I think we are extremely spoilt and therefore set very high standards. From the response of the first timers it is still a very well orgnised event. Think about how much work went in to all that single track, that is where the R200 went. Goodie bags are not a priority for me where awesome riding is.
  19. One question as well Johan,do you do courses for MTB and road bikes?
  20. I am also in for Durban please.
  21. Maybe the wheels on the bike were too "dik" to be stored in access security.....

    bib choice

Yah the The Indola Enduro's are the one and that is a good price. I paid R750-00 for mine. Use those for training and Assos for racing. With Assos you get what you pay for so the more expensive ones are far more superior.

In that price range i would go with Indola. Not a big fan of Cape Storm or First Ascent. A little bit more expensive I would look at Giordana. But if you can afford it Assos is the holy grail....worth every penny.
  24. Guy's count your blessings... I live in Dundee, I don't have an LBS to slate! Nearest one is an hours drive. Spoilt rotten you guys are.
