    Ebike - Tyres

Here is a list of tyres that I was looking at for my wife's e_bike. Vittoria Barzo 27.5 x 2.60 TNT Graphene 2.0 and Pirelli Scorpion 27.5 x 2.6 Enduro Mixed/TL Tyre. Also look at Maxxiss Minion DHF (if you can find any), Specialized tyres for e-bikes also looks good.
  2. Road. Crankset is FSA. Will have to visit some shops to see their selection of FD...bit difficult to judge via pictures if I need to source a new one.
  3. Will a MTB front derailleur work on a Gravel Bike? I do have a 105 road bike groupset on the gravel bike. My issue though is that the front derailleur shifting arm is a bit to long and rubs against the tyre. I saw some MTB derailleurs that does have a shorter shifting arm, hence the question of compatibility.
  4. @FA ok...I'm in JHB do not know if it will get to you via snail mail...and to courier it IMO would be costly for such a small thing that weighs approx 1g.

    947 Ride Joburg

No...he never had intentions to officially race. The next year was back to A bunch and the last 5 races after this incident he was always seeded in A.

Thanks for clearing the seeding issue. It was only later that we learned about jnr gears and the rules regarding racing. Surely I think it is still a bit unfair to a rider although capable throwing him/her in a racing bunch. Racing is these batches is at another level with all the attacks from the word go. Good luck for 21...first step towards 30.

You could've just ride instead of racing...but rather safe than sorry after recovering from this nasty bug...

Reading on the issue of racing batches and non racer riders I sometimes wonder why do they place riders in these categories when they are not racing. Yes the issue can be that the rider is strong and can easily ride at that pace but tactics in these racing bunches is another ball game. This happened to my son a few years ago while still at school. The one year he rode a sub 3 (think 2:45 or 2:50) and the next year year he was placed with the racing juniors. He started with them but he had a puncture and was dropped from the bunch, he tried to join one of the V* batches but everytime he was told by one the officials then he need to get out of the bunch he can't ride with them. He was extremely negative because it was his first time in a racing category and did not know the rules. Come to think of it what would've happened if he accidently had a podium finish? I think that he would've been most likely be disqualified because his bike was not the in the spec of racing juniors(unfair advantage of the gearing). Luckily it did not happen as I would've shared my 2cents.
  11. I really do not see the point of a support car in the cradle. There are two places where these cars can park and can be on the scene within 5 minutes if you just ride within the cradle boundary. The first car can be parked on the Lion/Rhino Park circle coverring the roads to the caves as well as the road part Rhino/Lion Park. The second car can be parked @Bidon coverring the road leading to Beyers Naude as well as the road going towards Avianto. The parts on Beyers Naude can be mix between car1 and car2 depending on the location. When riding in the cradle with your car on a weekend just relax, smile and wave. Getting all worked up is not worth it. I do have this attitude when leaving the cradle after riding. If there are big bunches in front of me taking up the whole road I will wait untill it is safe to pass.
  12. First things first...from the pic you have shared you do not have cable brakes but hydraulic brakes. You will not find a cable anywhere in that setup. So remove the word cable in your description. If your brakes was not up to scratch it could've been worn pads or air in the system. I would re-install the brake hose...look at the condition of the pads(if needed replace) and then top up with mineral oil...bleed the brakes and finally top up again with oil.
  13. The rain played major havoc with a few guys decided to call it a day. One of my friends were riding and what seemed to a puddle was a somewhat deep hole, they also had some smallish hail along the route. I think with the weather this year made the challenge extra tough.

    MTB Tyres

I will also look at Spez tires... @Sh4mir there are some 2.6 tyres at Evobikes. Was just asking what is the feeling on those tyres as the original Maxiss tyre is not available. The issue on my wife's E-Bike is that the rear is a 27.5 and front 29.

    Hot Foot

If it was there from the start I would've know something is not right. If I had the issue from the start I would've returned the shoes. Will look at small adjust ments and take it from there.

    Hot Foot

If it is the case then surely I would've felt it earlier and not after 3 months of regular riding?

    Hot Foot

I bought myself new MTB shoes about 3 months back. Never had any issues but during my last few rides I experienced this hot foot sensation and sore feet while pedalling. Quick search listed a few causes. My question is nothing changed and I made sure that my cleats were positioned correctly. My question Why Now? or is it just something that was not right from the start and now just reached a peak? How do I fix it?
  18. My wife is in need of new rear tyre for her E-Bike. It is currently fitted Maxxis Minion DHR 2.60 tyres. Looking for tyres found the following: Vittoria Barzo 27.5 x 2.60 TNT Graphene 2.0 and Pirelli Scorpion 27.5 x 2.6 Enduro Mixed/TL Tyre. Can only find a direct replacement in the size of a 2.80, but I do not know if it will fit. Your views on tyre choices?
  19. I feel basically the same as the Tour Durban race...due to Covid the route was moved again, but the issue is the route. Last time the route was changed at the last minute due to protests on the road this was in 2019. We accepted it and thought that it was just a once off but now it seems that the shorter route is the new route but now consists of 2 - 3 laps for the longer distance. If I want to ride a lap race I will enter an EXO MTB race. The old route with the climb into Pinetown was nice as the climb stretched out the field nicely, during the last race with no major climb the bunches was massive and basically nowhere to move. I will not ride and only if the route change back to the old route I will ride it again.
  20. The unit is displaying incorrect HR data. Tried different straps and the result is the same. When just riding casually on a flat section the hr jumps to 240 and the next moment 0. When climbing and I'm putting in some effort it displays 60 then jumps to 80 and then for a brief few seconds it displays more or less the correct hr at that moment. At first it was only for a few seconds and progressively it is getting worse and worse. Tried new batteries in the strap but it does not make a diffirence. Also reset the device to factory settings and paired the strap again without success.
  21. My Polar V650 decided to call it a day and now looking at options to replace it. Saw a few Garmin units for sale but without a heart rate strap. A new strap will be in the region of R1500. Question: Is the Polar heart rate strap compatible with Garmin or will only a Garmin strap work? Thanks
  22. No MTB event anywhere on DSTV...this is just poor
  23. Basically just car insurance. My Gravel bike that is valued at R53k is coverred on the R1 cover
  24. I'm with King Price and yes two of my bikes are insured with R1 deal. Had 3 claims for damages on the bike as well as a helmet claim which was settled promptly after providing details and quotations.
