  1. Thanks for the reply Ouzo, but how do I check which maps are compatible? Example if the maps on the device is Garmin, then most probably I should then stick to Garmin.
  2. Try E-Bike Tech. http://www.ebiketec.co.za/
  3. I do have an aftermarket radio in my Amarok with GPS functionality. Bought this radio in 2019 with a SD card with maps already downloaded. I would like to download the latest maps as I do not know what version/date of the current maps is. Should I just leave the maps as is or update the maps? If the suggestion is to update which option Garmin or TomTom?
  4. I do have a Seagate external HDD, which I use to backup some of my files. Today when I wanted to create a new backup folder the drive indicates read only. How can I change this setting? Google refers mostly to MAC OS but hardly anything on windows especially windows 10.
  5. The Ladies race is also getting interesting...Faces Rola looking good.
  6. I think that they could focus more also on the ladies race instead of showing the highlights of the men's race. Highlights should be at the end and race discussions.
  7. Paid R699
  8. Wow what a team member...hope his buddies will give him a piece of their mind.
  9. Thanks for all the replies...sourced a strap at Decathlon yesterday and the Garmin noticed the strap when I switched on the unit.
  10. I mainly use the HR monitor for my workouts towrds Viltality Points. I recently sourced a Garmin Edge 830 but without a HR strap. Can I use any other HR straps for my workouts that is Ant+ or should I rather source the Garmin HR strap.
  11. Have a look at extreme lights, they have a variety of lights. https://www.extremelights.co.za/
  12. Seeing lately that there are many anti e-bike for varoius reasons. From now on I will not use my car or my wife's e-bike to chase after KOM's. I will ask around for a good doctor who is willing to help me (Will message LA for a reference)achieve those KOM's. There are a few around my area that I feel that title belongs to me. No top 5 only KOM's.😇 Hope you will appreciate my effort...and I will show you that it has been done with a normal bike.😁 Enjoy the rides Pre-Strava era where we would just go out push ourselfs and just feel good afterwards and not to worry if the other person stopped his ride before getting in the car.
  13. Just a curious question....Saw most of the road events these days do have an entry cap of 2500 riders. This might be in line with Covid regulations, but why is the entry cap for races such as CTCT and 947 much higher under the same regulations?
  14. I do not undertsand the logic to get senselesly drunk that you can not stand on your feet or even "pass out". I do not see the "fun" in this. I was also young coupled with military service where about everybody was drinking. Later it was the aspect of "last man standing". Thinking back today I can not see the logic in that choice. I made a choice later to say that I will never go there again. I still drink but I limit myself to a single with a max of 2 drinks with alcohol and only on weekends. For me I would like to enjoy the drink and with the price of spirits these days a bottle will last me 6 months. As also mentioned the choice starts with you and only you can make that call.
  15. Agree with the comment towards Polar. I would love to see a more upgraded version of the V650. Currently it laggs in some feautures compared to their rivals, but for now it is working for me. The only gripe with the unit currently for me is the map plotting. If you are up here in GP and need to travel and you are out of the map range you need to update it. A global SA map would be fine. It seems that Polar focus more on wearables these days.
  16. The same happens with me and the wife on her e-bike, climbs she looses me, but as soon as the road starts to get flat and building some speed it is my turn to loose her. The benefit is on the climbs where I normally struggle I see it as a challenge these days to see if I can catch her or just trying to stay with her. It is a win win situation for both of us seeing that she tries to stay with me on flats.
  17. The more logical and somewhat safer option would be Monte into Cedar road, Cradle Loop(short distance turn right into cradle heading towards Bidon. The longer option continues towards Muldersdrift turning right into the Cradle past Avianto heading to Bidon. They can then return from the Cradle back to Monte via Cedar again. The only problem is the road works at the end of Ceder at the T-junction.
  18. Peter Road is one of the main routes towards Beyers Naude from the Suburbs to the West of Roodepoort as well as the East of Krugersdorp and beyond . As mentioned that traffic light at Peter/Beyers is more out of order than working. Keeping that road closed will ensure chaos. They will need to close the entire Beyers Naude road from the N14 to Witkoppen/Christiaan de Wet roads in order to keep the cyclists safe.
  19. Is there a difference between the chains of a normal bike and that of an E-Bike? Measured the chain wear on my wife's E-Bike and saw that it needs replacement. Do not want to make the mistake again of not replacing the chain as soon as the gauge indicates chain wear.
  20. Maybe a stupid question...possibly over inflated when tried to seat the tyre again? Made this mistake in December with a brand new tyre. I needed to attend to something urgently and asked my daughter just to inflate the wheel untill she hears a faint pop when the tyre seats. She didn't hear or possibly didn't pay attention to it and the next moment one huge bang. Tyre came off the rim and in the process the sidewall stretched and when later I fitted the tyre gain saw this wobble in the tyre. Needed to source a new tyre again and throw away a new tyre.
  21. I'm all for the suggestion but based on my experince DH will find a way to nail you. This is my gripe with Discovery Medical and Discovery Life insurance. I'm a very healthy individual and during the last few years I can count the fingers on my one hand when I really need to see the GP for health related matters, the only other times it was when I had a bike accident and needed to see the GP. I do have a dissability and it is my hearing thus need hearing aids. A decent unit costs around R23k and although it is fully funded by the medical aid the issue is that it uses the funds in my saving account and in previous years it would've thrown me right into the SPG. I had some long discussions in previous years with our compnay healthcare broker in the fairness of this action, but gave up as I was getting nowhere. I have since learned on how to use the system to my advantage when claiming for hearing aids. The other issue is my annual payback on my life insurance based on my vatality status. My gripe here again is that since I claim for the hearing aid device it shows as a medical claim indicating that I had R23k worth of claims and on their payout scale I'm losing out on a few extra $$$.

I think it depends how far are they from the finish...if they are close they will finish the course but it will not be official.
