  1. I am sure that if consumers were told this prior to purchasing the bike, they would look at other brands where there aren't design flaws.
  2. I have to agree, Greenstone would be fantastic.
  3. Well done Ariane, that's a great result, you are one tough cookie!
  4. Does anyone know how to get one of those big tents, i can't see anything on the entry form. How much extra do you pay?
  5. I love technical riding so that sounds great. I have to say that i'm looking forward to it, we are really spoilt for choice. What is also so wonderful is how the community get stuck in to host and serve. I was saddened by a lot of the riders on the Sani2c race this year and the attitude that they seem to be bringing to the event, attitude and self-centeredness and i hope that people don't bring that to this event. It's perhaps a danger in any sport when it becomes so popular.
  6. Upgraded tents? Where do i find them, that sounds great! Not too worried about Spionkop, i rode everything on S2c and i like hills!
  7. Hi have just gone and entered. I have done 2 S2c and the Lowveld Quest. I have always read that S2c and B&B are the best stage races. What are your thoughts and what should i expect?
  8. Watching that video has re-gutted me all over again!!! The hardest thing to accept is that we will never know how far he would have gone but we all knew the sky was the limit. The last sporting hero death where i felt emotion close to what i am feeling now is Aryton Senna back in 1994. The difference is that Burry was a guy who was one of us, someone on our doorsteps, a brother who was in our corner!! You will be missed and never forgotton and i am sure that your legacy will be many young aspiring Burry's that will try and fill the massive void you have left behind. Imagine.... 3 or 4 South African's in the top 10 of a UCI X-country finishers list in 5 years time.
  9. I need to replace my crankset and am also keen to convert my bike to 2 front rings as opposed to 3. I don't want to change to a 2 x 10 drivetrain because the cost of changing everything is costly. Anyone else faced the same dilenma? What do my fellow hubbers recommend i consider for changing to a 2 x 9 drivetrain. There are 2 cranksets that standout to me so far taking reliablility and cost of changing chainrings in to account going forward. They are the X7 and the SLX M665 option but i'm not sure if they are suited to a 9-spd chain system. Bearing in mind that i am running a 9-spd 11-36 cassette, what ratio should i be thinking about. The X7 comes with a 26-39 and the SLX comes with a 22-36 which is probably a bit small and i would look at changing that to a 26-38 if those rings are available. Please let me know your thoughts and give advise if you have crossed this road. Thanks.
  10. You need to lose a few kg's before you can think of using EPO, haha!!
  11. The reality of this scandal has really hit SA now and it's very sad. You can't help but think that it's going to set the sport back, sure, we won't stop riding but what about that aspiring young talent that is coming through and looking for sponsorship. Who is going to be jumping at sponsoring these guys? My friend has a daughter who is one of the top talents in Gauteng, if not SA and she's battling to find a good sponsor. It seems like cycling is the only sport that is been put to task, surely other codes need to be measured. Dunno??
  12. I agree, maybe he still takes his EPO and has made him slow, the irony!! Nice wife though.
  13. Correct and that is probably excluding shipping costs and insurance. Like i said, it helps to know what you in for so you can do the maths.
  14. Full bikes are not considered a luxury item but it does attract duty of 15%, the tariff heading it would be cleared under is 8712.00.10. You are correct in saying you don't pay duty if frame and parts are seperate (it can't be on the same invoice). Do your calculation, it might be worthwhile bringing in a full bike if you getting them cheap. Don't forget your VAT too. Here is a quick calculation if you want to know formula to work out exact cost, If bike cost is R10,000 + 1,500 (15% duty) = R11,500. You have to pay ATV (added tax value) vat which is R11,500 + 10% + 14% = R1,771. Total = 10,000+1,500+1,771 = R13,271. I hope this helps and isn't too complicated.
  15. Looking at all your comments, clearly i was lucky!! I hope you get your parcels soon.
  16. They don't give you a tracking number on your confirmation email but if you log on to their site and go into "my account". There is an option to track your order and from there, a tracking number is given. I hope you come right.
  17. Have you used your tracking number and checked it?
  18. Hi G, i just took the standard option, i didn't change anything. I am not sure if they have changed their delivery policy but i know a year or 2 back, Amazon were having a problem with SA deliveries and so changed to courier and since then, have minimised their problems.
  19. Very nice bike and i am sure there is a lot of us thinking of doing the conversion now that our 26" bikes are becoming "worthless". Is that a 26" F-series fork?
  20. I put through a R 4,000 order last Friday around 3pm and choose standard delivery which was free because my order was over R 2,000. I got a call and email from DHL on Tuesday, paid the VAT the same time and my parcel was delivered yesterday (Wed). 5 days in total on standard delivery and if you consider there was a weekend in the middle. That's what i call service!!
  21. My sweet ride...
  22. I don't know you Warrior Princess but your profile pic looks dandy so just wear that:-)
  23. I entered it on Wednesday, i hope it's a good one. I love the berg so hopefully i will love the race.
  24. Thanks Tea Lady, will check it out.
  25. You will quickly understand why the Lefty is so loved by all it's pilots!!
