  1. ..what are we NOT doing with that log? We are NOT putting it on the bakkie, there's a chance it might never come off again! Crow, that deposit was non-refundable huh..
  2. You sat down didn't you?! ..it's a photo, were you waiting for them to start moving?
  3. Ja, you are quite sharp.. You thought of this too, right?
  4. I'm glad you decided not to. Whew, major issue averted!
  5. You're right, even in winter I can get up the first stretch in only rear wheel drive, there are enough stones offering grip. The trip to the Switchbacks with a full ton load, and the short 20m hill in the corner passed Puff Adder.. now that's a different story! Actually, during the rain and scraping of the road, getting to Fairie Garden was a task for 4x4 and diff lock on! That said, driving over the wattle on Cobra level 5 is always more fun in full 4-wheel lock.
  6. When I was asked what type of vehicle I needed, there was a sum total of zero seconds in my response, 4x4!
  7. ..ha ha!
  8. ..all of them?
  9. Ok, need to know what's happening. Update or I'll assume the beer won!
  10. TMNP are already allowing the construction of B-lines.. Snake Eyes has a whole trail of equal length set for this purpose.
  11. No, there really is a meeting on Friday to discuss the track..
  12. AB'stard, the correct step to take here would be to get SanP to built an alternate route for the folks you mention, pick up on the erosion factor while you are chatting. Suggest what DJR pointed out earlier and get a volunteer group out there one day. Later... and well done for looking out for the older group and less experienced. (FYI, there is a 73yr old lady hitting Mamba in Tokai on a regular basis.. skills clinic anyone?)
  13. I am correct in assuming that you are one of the b*stards from twitter, hence "ABastard"? If Meurant has been brought into the discussion and Rob has confirmed he feels the trail wont last summer, then it should be asked if it is indeed built with longevity as consideration.. this is so important right now. However, there are two opinions over who built it so facts are somewhat sketchy to say the least.. Oh, and stop trying to vilify Parks - the title is misleading your gripe is the trail, not their gate! Ed: Pics Meezo?

I'm watching this thread! The moment it gets to "cutting corners to speed up your time" you'll hear from me again.. I've got a real crap job ahead of me in the next few weeks, closing off the "straight as strava" shortcut lines.. Ok, as you were.. rant over - for now.
  15. There is enough reason to get started sooner than later.. and Mayhem has the beer!
  16. The entry to the first switch is open to ride. we focussed on this part of the track as it had a tree lying across the trail with a pretty high drop which could and would catch riders unaware. The trail is by no means complete but what has been built so far is a taste of what kind of finish to expect ( for all trails). Next week we'll get the rest of Boomslang open to ride and when time allows, we'll revisit the trails from top to bottom and make changes based on your comments or what the trail needs as it continues to be ridden. It also has to be said that there will be a certain amount of pedalling on the snake trails, there will be a new track built one day that will satisfy the requests for less pedaling, I hope to present the new trails for Tokai mid next year when the required process nears completion. The future trail will be presented on all social media for comment... Exciting times ahead but only possible if we stay positive and apply some respect for the system. Feel free to post what you guys enjoy or don't enjoy, we welcome positive input!
  17. Berms are fun! Come join tomorrow, bummed for missing today's ride! Let's session the boomslang entry. Actually, the offer is open to all, 230 ride anyone? Meet at boomslang at 3.
  18. Hey I'll join.
  19. Yes it will. Snake eyes will be refreshed too.
  20. Looking back at the entry. Cant really see it in the shot but the tree drop's landing has been helped a bit by digging out about 3 tons of soil to add slope to the transition. The soil was moved further up the trail (foreground) adding elevation to the "summit". Hit it fast enough and you're airborne!
  21. Here's another view..
  22. A lot of goodwill going around lately...
  23. Dunno, were you thinking of winning?
  24. Ha ha, you are sharp but I am (for once) not the poor guy who had to choose between a looong walk down or smash a window.. Working For Water guys last year.
  25. Just found a shot on twitter.. ha ha! This is for the volunteers, from twitter.. Den Anker Epic ‏@denankerepic 37m "How awesome are the new trails in #tokai !!! Thanks to everyone involved"
