  1. He loves what he does! I've also only got praise for him.. Well done Deon
  2. ..and now I just understood LeTurbos comment. You did indeed.
  3. I've met them too. Nice people, and Kevin I know has plenty of time for others. Bridget fell hard in the 2011 Cape Epic but refused to give in, rode with blood and all!! Was a head wound if I'm not mistaken.. Well done guys, what good ambassadors!
  4. Sorted?
  5. Sorry bud, there's no button for 'don't like'! Dude, I cannot even imagine what went through your head.
  6. You set the bar high!
  7. Let's play that again..
  8. Ha, I just prefer how you said it MH.. "Like* sorry Nige..
  9. I saw a father and son on the trails last week, son donned with lid, father without.First, the double standard killed me and second, who will comfort the kid while daddy lies concussed on the ground, possibly bleeding. I lost a piece of my ear in June, it's healed up quite nicely but it would've been a piece of my head had it not been for the 2 week old Kali Protectives "Chakra" helmet available at Cycle Factory in Montague Gardens for ±600 bucks!
  10. CSA's site has so little info, including the 'more info PDF'. How many laps, elevation, start times etc.. these things are surely of interest? Should I have to google it? Anyone want to take a guess why XCO is just bumbling along? This is Africa Champs, right?
  11. Hey, I'll tag along.
  12. Don't worry man. It's plenty fine to have a good event here! There is ample but riders will need to be fit! I can hear the complaints.. ha ha!
  13. I am going to do XCO. Sold, thanks Nico. Time for me to get fit again. Another format I dig, ok probably because Lopes cleaned up, is the XC eliminator. Don't know if it was just Brian making all the other guys look bad, but the format looked fun too. Certainly the XCO track has a lot to play in the popularity of the event. Some courses, mostly international ones provide TV with really good shots, the features are named and develop a personaltiy. Good TV is what drives the level of tech features after-all.. sponsors want numbers. The Epic has the best TV, tough act to follow. Nico, SA XCO being the new kid compared to XCM will need to fight hard to pull the numbers that sponsors are finding in XCM.. it's a bit of a catch-22 especially while economy is tight. A bit off-track but in response to some posts; in a little ol' place like Tokai (as well as many others), marathon is welcomed along with every other kind of other riding. I find it best not to be too selective about what is considered cool or uncool, technical or not technical, fact is everyone loves what they do.. SA for the most part is fitness oriented, public trails tend to have the need to cater to everyone, a bit like CTD.. 3 factory settings that pros and novices share - unless it's valved, then it's cheating.. This could be why we don't see as many XCO courses/trails where people can skill up knowingly. If it is too tech, you start excluding/not too tech, the comments fly.. A tough one for the trails to balance. Distinction is needed, that's what the future is about, certainly here it is.. Clothing is a good indicator of where markets are growing. Many more AM helmets from more diverse brands are available lately - proof the all-mountain market is growing. A few years ago I was told Enduro/AM helmets are not even a consideration, that same person is now importing them in bulk! Maybe the sport of XCO won't survive, that's a dreaded reality.. but socially riders are looking for more. @Mayhem, the Snake trails will develop as riders can handle more. It will be a slow learning curve for many. Can't rush it, certainly not in the middle of Cape Town.
  14. solid advice.
  15. I'll not go there, right?
  16. Loving it, the negative space works and is in keeping with the subtlety of the stock branding.. just want to draw your attention to the pin striping.. accentuates the contrast between orange and blue. Makes blues bluer and oranges orangier.
  17. You've left off the topics that actually lead to warnings and suspensions. Off-topic baiting threads = avoid.
  18. Just make it what you want it to be, avoid the crap and start/follow topics that interest you. It's not hard, unless you're a victim to baiting, then it's a long muddy road of disappointment..
  19. ..you have in the past.
  20. I'm not jealous, I'm just off to find another thread.. sod this blue fad! Yellow was supposed to be the new black, dammat damnit.. Damnit! pfft!
  21. hairdryer should be mellow enough..
  22. ha ha, I am also not the one to ask..
  23. same guy obviously rides here.. Thought of looking who had the best strava times might reveal who??
  24. A tactic to run and sober up, then reappear when the booze levels are down. Hairy, I would think the consequence of leaving the scene is less severe than dui.
