  1. Blind spots can be behind the A 'n C pillar too, just that it is not taught in the K53 that it obstructs vision. (Geez, double meaning!) On that.. I have once had a car move at the same pace as me moving my head to look behind the A pillar. I saw nothing and entered the traffic circle. It was @!&*^ close!
  2. ..and if the driver get's off on a light sentencing the public will rebuke the judicial system. It's a tough one, it is.
  3. Public perception Sorry, my point being the taxi driver being hanged as an example to motorists in the fight for cycling's acceptance on the road. I distinctly recall the day Burry died, people were calling for an example to show the world. He does not fit the bill IMHO.
  4. ..and public perception? http://imgc.allpostersimages.com/images/P-473-488-90/29/2944/JSWRD00Z/posters/hanging-a-pirate-in-a-cage-on-high-ground-overlooking-the-sea.jpg
  5. I second that! Go for the state next! Car brochures need to offer indicators as an optional extra, just under colour-coding which is usually last!! Sick of it!!
  6. ..and if he is guilty for these reasons, then he should face the penalty. I fear what will be understood from the verdict though. Media will surely make an example of the driver when in my eyes, a win for cycling should be that hit and run case of a few months ago. All fingers point to that guy being DUI!!
  7. I dunno, I want justice too but what is justice in this case?? The fact that the taxi is roadworthy is where I start doubting the drivers intentions. He did appear to be in shock and stayed on the scene until the police arrived. Where have you ever heard this happening?? It's sad whichever way you look at it! An example must be made but surely diver's negligence and bad attitudes are what we are fighting.. Is this case about what can happen to any of us?
  8. Does the white line apply in this case. No provision is made to turn into the service road. Unless no turning sign is in place, it could be taken as road marking error??
  9. Ha ha!
  10. if the 130mm 650b is the new 150mm 26, does this mean the 130mm 29 is the new 170mm 26?
  11. Wie soek so vroeg in die oggend?
  12. The Turner is such a sexy bike! Interestingly, I have a friend who owned the TB, sold it and went back to a hard tail, then bought a Czar. In comparison he says the TB flexed too much for his liking.. The Czar just got a Lev dropper post so I guess he has found what he is looking for.
  13. This make so much sense?! BL..15 years working in Eden? You are probably the guy the other group keeps asking about.. You all should meet. On a serious note, can anyone with a spade walk in and start digging?
  14. This is my flipping HERO!!! Such a legend and what a gentleman.. That's his new custom bike.. moulded to fit his tiny frame - work that out?! Little guy who ride bike and loves life!
  15. Yes he was and I still wait patiently as an understudy to you both.
  16. A few shots of the divert. Cobra ran straight down and exited between two trails, neither trail getting any benefit. The plan was to link into Mamba and get Cobra (prev known as Black Eagle) finally part of the Snake trail. Looks so different now.. The link.. (photo credit iRide Africa)
  17. Gavin.. Before.. After..
  18. Brandon Stephan and Marlin. Gavin was playing with the power tools somewhere.
  19. Here are a few pics of the changes for those who have not ventured all the way up there yet - it will be worth the trip especially for the link into Mamba. Looking down the trail.. Looking back.. I posted in another thread somewhere that the idea for each section of the Snake trail is to offer some or other quality that when combined in a full run, gives the rider a bit of everything. Cobra.. the trails starts with tight, tech and twisty rock-lined features that gradually starts to stretch out for more flow. MH, you'll need to work at that technique! Mamba.. continues this flow with a few switching sections and out-the-saddle bursts to regain some height for the next switch descent. Boomslang.. this will be the long trail traversing the contour with a few gems inserted. Snake Eyes.. yes it will be worked on and offer some of that old school goodness that many remember. Rinkhals.. while there is a plan, there is no telling yet what will be approved. However, if recent meetings are any indication of what is to come, your day will be good!
  20. You are very welcome! Thanks to the volunteers, Myles and I'll certainly let Gavin, Brandon, Marlin and Stephan know. They are super guys to have working on the trails... So neat and committed.
  21. The EMP was handed to Parks yesterday for review. When we have their feedback there might be some back and forth to get it signed. The next meeting will formally introduce the public to the new EMP and show the possible routes connecting the south to the north for the peninsula route proposal... when is the next meeting? Not sure yet but it will be announced in almost every media. Fortunately the new doc is based on international trends and standards and builds on previous Parks documents from 2002 and 2008, this would mean the approval should be sooner than later as the content is not entirely new.. Just incase some are not up to speed, the forum was established as part of Parks' requirement to have a single constituted body represent this activity. The same is required of all the other groups, horses, hikers, mushroom pickers, etc.. The need arose out of the concern for the growing numbers of cyclists and the severe shortage of trails and what is existing getting a negative rap due to impact on the trail.
  22. These guys are working on it. www.tmmtbforum.co.za..

    First AM Bike

Not quite bergie mount yet but if security isn't stepped up, could be soon.
  24. Glad you gave it a go Mark.. Ben yet?
  25. There's always trouble down there. I will escalate the issue with the Tokai funding group.. Camera and guards are two possible solutions, ideally both!!
