  1. Ceres

    Rugby...

So now they gone from the fairy look to the macho look. Talk about doing a about face.
  2. Hi Izak is that a 165 mm shock and also is that a 650b frame or a 26er you converting?
  3. Ceres

    Cricket......

Sure Symcox feels a bit foolish today the way he went on about McLaren being left out at Newlands. Well today McLaren went for almost 8 an over.... ouch.
  4. I think you might cope in C, or what you could do is start in C if you get dropped on Hels hook up with the next group.
  5. I am in the same boat got a 40th the night before got to drive from Ceres, start time 5h50.
  6. I guess its just bragging rights for them as there is no PPA seeding or anything like that, as long as the top three rode right its ok as they the only ones who receive prize money. Eselfontein is all about the ride not about the time. Thanks for all the kind words Stevief always can rely on you to be at the race how many have you done now? Great ride by Franso Steyn, bugger took my strava KOM on the deadman walking climb. Guess he deserved as he smashed it by over a minute, big up.
  7. You obviously didn't come ride the Eselfontein this last weekend MTBing old school style.
  8. Hi guys results are up. http://www.eselfonteinmtb.co.za Go to Festival and on the left you will see to links to last year and this years time.
  9. Will speak to Cornel (the guy that did the timing) tomorrow and find out when and where it will be posted
  10. Cheez thanks guys for all the positive feed back. We try every year to make the track a little bit better and it looks like we succeeded. I must say I walked a lot of the track during the week leading up to the race and I think the guys that helped opening the track up did a great job, there were no hidden surprises as you get in a lot of races. I am very glad that Deon Malherbe is still passionate about this race, if you consider its one of if not the longest running mtb festival in SA.
  11. $ for me but I would be crazy to start there, friend of mine started there last year got dropped on Hels and we caught him in Paarl. Think I will drop down to Vets same as last year.
  12. Its Eselfontein farm, its very easy to get to just drive straight through Ceres you will see a big cold store on your left called Crispy Coolers and a sign that says Ezelfontein rd turn right there, its about 300 metres out of Ceres the turn. The farm is at the end of the road about 14 km down, at about 8km it will turn into gravel just keep going.
  13. Looks like its going to a big one on Saturday got about 240 online entries and another 30 or so at Ceres Cycles. Considering a lot of the locals (and there is a lot of them) enter on the morning I think we are in for a good turn out. Also the weather looks like its going to be perfect, also had about 5 mm of rain on Wednesday so the dust should be minimal, Eselfontein drains very well so there will be hardly any mud patches. Will report back tomorrow on how's the river crossing. Also what's great we have already 30 entries for the night race on Friday so that's going to be a jol.
  14. About 90% is single track. Then its 10km 100% single track down again.
  15. I hope you are doing the night race because we will be doing some carbo loading that evening.
  16. If you know how to get to Ceres then drive straight through Ceres you will see a big cold store on your left called Crispy Coolers turn right there, there is a sign that says Ezelfontein rd (don't ask me why its not spelled the same as the farm). Then just straight down that road it will start to become a gravel road about 8 km down but just keep going you will eventually drive straight into Eselfontein farm. If you don't know how to get to Ceres there are a few ways. 1. take the N1 towards Worcester just before the big one stop garage turn left towards Ceres (road works on that road)quite a while down that road T junction turn right quite a while down this road next T junction turn right that will take you into a pass which leads into Ceres. 2. Take the Klapmuts road towards Wellington just before the golf course turn left at the robots. If you stay on that road it will take you all the way through Nuwe Kloof to Ceres, no turn offs. 3. The way I use is go through du Toits Kloof on the N1 as you come out of the Pass by the way station turn right. Then turn left at the Goudini spa turn off it will take you through Slanghoek and eventually over a single lane low water bridge then at the T junction turn left and you will be on the "Worcester" road where the road works are, then carry on as no. 1.
  17. Just rode the deadman walking route (to the top most point past the pipeline)with Buchu this evening man that down hill is wicked. Deon Malherbe has added a few more twist and turns so the down hill is now over 10 km long of just single track. Here is also the profile from last years race nasty climb to get to the top but that down hill makes it all worth while.
  18. Yes you can enter on the day.
  19. Also looks like we are going to have perfect weather for the weekend. Bit of rain on Wednesday to settle the dust and cool conditions on Saturday. Night race is going to be a blast this year.
  20. Yes to all of the above. Braai facilities is the only thing I am doubtful about but I'm sure you can just make a clearing anywhere.
  21. Working on Red Bull downhill.
  22. Don't you mean next weekend? Or you are you not doing the race? Looks like some rain this weekend but looks like perfect weather for the race.
  23. Same thing happened to mine they also replaced them no questions asked. Mine gave way in a race which was not nice had to ride 20 km pushing foot inward so they would not slip off.
  24. Started clearing the track and going to try and make Red Bull even more flowing by flattening some of the off camber corners.
