  1. Started clearing the track and going to try and make Red Bull even more flowing by flattening some of the off camber corners.
  2. This pic is taken from the top of death drop looking down at red bull hills single track.

    Rugby...

I agree mostly with that team but you can't leave Bismark out he steals way too many balls and he is stronger than Strauss. On those soggy fields you want that. Also cant see them dropping JP, not enough players of colour in the team then.
  4. I watched them coming in at the water stop and all I can say a saw a shed load of Scott Spark 910 29ers.
  5. I also did the 45km (coming from Ceres the long ride just starts too early), myself and a seeded A guy broke away 5 km in and TT the rest of the ride. Managed to stay away from the group by two minutes, thought you guys might catch us into the head wind. Turned around at the end and found my father and brother and rode back with them. Fun day, it was great that the wind wasn't too much of a factor.
  6. I am a bit of a weight weenie but a bottle cage is the only thing I don't worry about. I buy the one that my bottle doesn't come out of going down a technical hill.
  7. I agree I sold my carbon scott spark with full XTR and ec90 eastern rims for R12 000.
  8. No Deon Malherbe is the owner, I farm about 3km away on the Eselfontein rd. Myself and about another 4 farmers are involved with helping maintain the route before the festival. (our donation to the old age home and we do ride the route often) My guys cut that new downhill section after you go under the pipeline and also helped build two of the bridges. My wife also helps with the entries on the day. Remember most of the profit go's to the old age home in Ceres. Deon Malherbe doesn't need the money.
  9. If you get hold of me early on Friday night I can lend you a light.
  10. Glad you liked it and remember we haven't started clearing the route yet. Lots of bridge building and weedeating still to happen.
  11. Most of the track is single track I would say more than 80%. There are some nasty climbs but after every climb there is some breath taking single track. For example after the dead man walking climb there is about a 7 km downhill single track. The long route is technical but all can be ridden. I would not say its way more technical than say the Wine to Whales. We had to make the shorter route less technical as a lot of wifes (or some of the husbands) and kids wanted to come ride but were scared of the route. PS. ask anyone who has done it and they all say its in the top three mtb races in the cape, come and ride you won't be sorry.
  12. Don't know what the problem is about the shirt. If you don't have the Epic sticker still on your bike you didn't do it.

Did a 3:24 came in the top 20 so the result isn't bad just hated that wind in the last 20km. Had six guys that worked well together to pull me through.

So does that mean shaven legs in front and unshaven at the back. You will have to get that razor out Buchu, a proper one not that cheap bic disposable one like in the DC. Or have the scares healed.
  16. I agree with a you here. A sub 4 hour Karoo2Coast is not easy. I did a 3:55 with a index of 21 for the Karoo. but then I also did the Burger with a time of 2:20 with a index of 13.7. I can tell you now the 2:20 of the Burger was a lot easier than the sub 4. I know what you guys are saying about being close to the winners time and all that but at the end of the day why make it a seeding ride if its not a fair reflection on how strong you are.
  17. You not the first and you won't be the last, I remember last year there was a long line at the racetec table. (also a lot of people buying for the first time.)
  18. You can enter on the morning but do remember there is a limit of 600 riders, but I don't think it should be a problem. http://www.entrytime.com/index.asp?GoTo=EventInfo&EventID=3950 Distance & Entry Fee 65km R120 36km R100 16km R50 To the top... Start Time 65km 08h30 36km & 16km 08h50 To the top... Venue Eselfontein Farm, Ceres
  19. Check the profile they pretty much on top of every climb. The last one is a little bit before Concordia climb. Don't worry there is enough of them.
  20. I will be riding with one of those tight tops under my cycling top, I think with a biggish windbreaker you might get a bit hot on the climbs. Also it looks like there won't be too much wind so it might heat up later in the day. Maybe take one of those small apple windbreakers that can fold up small into your pockets if you start to get hot.
  21. What's the difference between driving an Uno and putting your hand down Dollie Partons top........... you feel a bigger tit driving an Uno. Sorry Stevie could not help telling that old joke.
  22. Except for the first climb and downhill its flat gravel road so I will be riding a little higher pressure than normal.
