Thinking back to the movie they made Epic Tale remember the scene with the power meter on the laptop where KE was all about peaking at the right time getting his power output just right for the time of year etc. Oh and what does DG do he just goes on feel and heart rate. So DG was probably hiding that his EPO was keeping his power levels up. So to that extent I don't think KE knew about what was going on behind closed doors. Just my take on things what do you guys think?

You right I would say its the other way round. I think 29ers should by rated like EPO......... its cheating. The best way to define a 26er is like a slr camera you have to focus the picture to get it clear the 29er is like an instant camera "mik en druk" just point it straight and it does the rest.

I think your budget is a bit low if you want to upgrade. In the R4500 price range you can set of Tokens which weigh under 1500g.

My biggest hope is that the guys that are still using see the light and the error of their ways and try and turn over a new leaf and go clean. The problem is until somebody is made and example of and gets a life ban or jail time(as this should constitute fraud)these guys will keep playing russian rolette.

Yes 300g lighter than my friends S-works with full XTR. These American Classics are super light at 1420g (although the Hanekom brothers have done an epic and a Pioneer with theirs and they are still in one piece except for a few dings) I do hear they are a bit soft thats why I still have kept the wheels they came with as training wheels or when I ride on Eselfontein.

Thanks guys, tcr climbs well but those mavic SR hubs it flies down the hills amazing wheels. I guess I could throw a few more grams off but then things get real costly.

Sorry I am one those who expect people with a 50 000 rand + bike to use clipless. There are so many more advantages than disadvantages. If you tell me you do lots of technical downhills then I'm all for it. I just can't see how you could do a long or a stage race with flats then again I don't know how people can ride single speeds.

Nice looking bike but have to agree with some of the guys here if you want the bar ends because you do long rides then why do you have those pedals surely you don't want to do a 40 km + ride with them. What did that build cost you 50....60.... grand then you put flat pedals on bit crazy or is it just me. Each to his own I guess.

I think it is more difficult than last year, remember you cut across from the left turn after the wind pump, this year you had to go all the way down redbull hill through the third forest. Then its a 8 km climb to the top, ok we did take that borring climb at Wangenela dam out. Last years race was also about 3 km shorter than this year.

Spoke to the guy setting it up and he said he will try and do it tonight. I think it will be on the Eselfontein website.
