  1. Biokineticist sounds like a good option to get some further feedback... I however did go riding today... did a very easy 37km as i had no idea how fast i would be able to push it, did it in 1:50 and still had alot left in me when i got home, my leg was not in anyway tired or stiff and best of all i had zero swelling in my foot. Funny enough actually cramped abit in my left calf.... Atleast i now have an idea as to how fast and hard i can push it so i got something to work off. First ride back had it all... sunshine, heavy winds and last few kms heavy rain and some hail... but i still walked into the house with a big grin on my face, was far better than being on the couch. Tomorrow i will do a shorter ride and go abit harder and see how it goes...
  2. I have completed my rehab and the physio says I can start doing everyday things as normal again. Even ride my mx bike again (within limits obviously) Was not a specialized physio but have been using her for 15 years with various sports related injuries I am still lacking between 5-10 degrees flexibility in my ankle
  3. So in December last year I had a serious motocross accident and shattered and dislocated my right foot, I had to have numerous screws, plates and wires put into my foot to pull everything back together. For the next 4 months after that I was completely inactive and was not allowed to put any weight what so ever on my leg. After the 4 months I had another surgery to take everything out and began physio and rehab shortly after that. My ankle joint is still quite stiff and my Achilles tendon very tight and short as well, I still struggle with swelling and walk with a bad limp however I have been told I can start training again... My goal for this year would be to ride 94.7 cycle challenge and ride it fairly well all things considered, however everyone keeps telling me not to over do myself... am I being over eager and getting ahead of myself? What is my best way forward in terms of training? Get out on the road and slowly build up on saddle time and km's? I rode around the block last night and could not believe how weak my leg actually is. I will go for a proper ride on Friday morning and see how far I can actually go, my guess if I can do anything further than 20km I will be relatively pleased. Any suggestions, ideas etc would be much appreciated. I have never been this inactive since I was a 2 year old kid

  8. The guys with huskies, have you ever had a problem with them being aggresive towards you? I had a friend in pre-school and they had 3 or 4 of them and one day they all turned and attcked the mom and two sisters. Unfortunately one sister got bitten badly in the face... always been scared of them since then.
  9. This was my grandfathers dog, unfortunately she passed away a few years ago from heart failure, she wasnt even 3 years old yet... biggest dog i ever seen. Used to play tug of war with her.
  10. How's the riding going Fran? If you're on an Enduro, you have the best type of bike for every trail in Tokai. Agreed, had my Enduro down there for few weeks in June/July and fell in love with my bike all over again... nothing like using it on trails that its made for. Infact make sure you conserve some energy so when you get to the bottom you can ride back up and do it all over again... thats how i felt anyway Also goes a long way when you ride proper trails prepared and maintained by guys who know what they doing and are passionate about it too
  11. Wow, some beautiful knives here... My collection, not quite as great as some on here and not realy brand names.. Top one i dont think counts as a knife but its what i reach fro when the house alarm goes off at night... The middle left was made by my grandfather when he was still at school and the multi-tool is a stainless steel harley davidson edition. Bottom left is what i tend to take with me when i go into the outdoors...
  12. Try working out what is causing the problem, the wheel (i.e bearings) or the break and take it from there....
  13. So my 4 week holiday in CT is coming to an end, now i have a problem getting my bike back to JHB. No body is able to pick me up from the airport so using the train back to PTA which is fine but i cant take a massive box and luggage etc with me. So what is the cheapest and easiest way to get my bike back to gauteng without having to pay the equivalent of another plane ticket?
  14. My bonny this morning in Tokai... i fell inlove with her all over again. Finally got to ride my bike on terrain that its made for and away from excuses for technical singletrack found in Gauteng, nothing compares to the fun i just had in Tokai. You guys have an absolute gem here and the trail builders deserve a big pat on the back, those trails are absolutely insane. Please come build abit up country... The next 3 weeks of riding cant go slow enough
  15. Hey guys Im flying to Cape Town tomorrow morning and taking my bike with, however im not to sure about what to do with my tubeless tires. The airlines ask that the tires be deflated howver doing this will cause sealant to end up all over the place. Can i deflate the tire only a little bit and then just pump it up when i get there? Thanks alot
  16. My Specialized Enduro My first dual suspension and I absolutelt love it, even if its the worst bike climbing with, knowing how it descends is all the motivation i need getting to the top. Do however need to set up the fork a bit better but dont have a pump yet... Heading to Cape Town in a few weeks so looking forward to giving it a proper working over in Tokai, havent been there for a few years now.
  17. View of Hout Bay on the road up to the mast Not so much a view or trail... but my brother feeling far to good on such a climb
  18. I just got a new bike and the front disc is rubbing slightly, i have done the usual lossen the calliper etc to try set it but that has not worked. I took the wheel in to have the disc checked and it is not bent anywhere, so what else could be causing it to rub and what can i do to try fix it?
  19. Also look at the Specialized Enduro... rode mine for the first time on Sat and absolutely loved it, best bike i ever ridden.
  20. My new beast... Saturday can not come quick enough
