  5. RIP Burry - so sad today.
  6. R.I.P. Condolences to the family. Shame on South Africa.
  7. Sorry to hear - I had one one stolen outside the natural sciences building there a long time ago - bike theft was rampant and nothing seemed to be done about it - hope it's not so common still!
  8. This is the end of the beginning - within a year you will have spent 20k+ and still be planning more, but you will love every minute of it
  9. Cool thanks. Busy downloading - quality much better too.
  10. Having to read about it all I have to admit some of the pics on the hub have been amazing! Arianne and Eric Kleinhans of Contego 28E lead the mixed teams during stage 4 of the 2012 Absa Cape Epic Mountain Bike stage race held at the Overberg Primary & High School in Caledon, South Africa on the 29 March 2012 Photo by Nick Muzik/Cape Epic/SPORTZPICS
  11. Thanks - you all make me feel a little better about wasting my money :-) Wonder if they will give a refund - lol
  12. The beginning of this week I bought a DSTV drifta - my first experience of DSTV. I bought it specially to watch the epic. First day was great – then I could not get a signal anywhere (my home and office are in coverage zones). I moaned and complained and they asked if I had coverage, what the weather was like, is there coverage outside the house etc etc. Then I said it must be the device so they gave me a new one. Now I have the new one and it does not work either but now find out there is no signal in Pretoria at the moment, and DSTV says they should sort it by the 4th April!! Their departments clearly don’t speak to each other. I wasted my money and am sad to miss all the excitement – not the same just to read about it.
  13. Not good for my budget – the present solomans is far enough away for me not to go very often. I always spend more there than I plan to. This however will be nice hub of LBSs – solomans for goodies and FPC for bike services.
  14. Daily Omega 3. Occasional calcium. All of us over 35 should do this. Cyclists also often have low bone density - althogh this would not include those who cycle as little as me! Occasional multivitamin & mineral. I know this may all just be peed out but it makes me feel better! Daily anti-oxidant
  15. I was look at one of these in my LBS the other day - looked very good and lighter than my MTB. So unless you think you will be going off road these are great: http://www.silverbacklab.com/2011_website_SILVERBACK/scento3.htm
  16. Condolences to the family - sadness.
  17. I have a Silverback so nothing against them but this does not look like a good deal to me. Last I looked at my LBS you get a 2011 Ventura for less than that - XT RD etc, and lighter. Possible out of stock now. Look at Solomans web site they have similar priced Fuji bikes with XT/SLX group sets.
  18. Will take the boys to groenies :-)
  19. Going to KZN Midlands and taking MTB - not ridden there before but should be something good!
  20. Just because someone if a Prof. does not mean you should believe what they say or write - ask my wife - she believes nothing I say and I am a Prof. :D I use a helmet as it is simply common sense to do so - no science needed for me to protect my nob.
  21. I see the 2011 Ventura is going for R7400 at my LBS - great value I think - not sure of the rest?
  22. It is a spectra 3.0 which makes me think there will be a better spectra 2.0 and even better 1.0 - perhaps the 2.0 or 1.0 will be similarly speced as the 2011 spectra - or it seems to be a backward step by Silverback?
