  1. I’m confused. What time did it normally start?
  2. So far my only goal would be reaching Comrades injury free this year. I have entered Hohenorts 15km, Red Hill Marathon, Wietse’s Hemel en Aarde Marathon, Weskus (hopefully), Two Oceans and finishing off the prep with the False Bay 50km. Will probably throw in Tyger Run and Safari Half marathons as well.
  3. Two of my buddies received their confirmation emails as well. Both novices for the race. Starting to wonder if luck had anything to do with it. Edit: I checked a few of my club mates and friends quickly. Found only one that hasn’t been confirmed yet [emoji2375]
  4. So having done only two Oceans so far and with the draw today for those that have done seven and more I was quite surprised to receive my confirmation email today after the first draw. Makes me wonder if they perhaps overplayed their hand somehow with the whole ballot scheme.
  5. I do think there were lots more than three. The one guy I know of results still show on the app. Would have loved to see him disqualified.
  6. Entry in for the ultra as well. Would like to have some sort of reserve plan in place though.
  7. Was looking forward to confirmation of this event and was hoping that it would be a suitable replacement for Oceans. With such a late date though it doesn’t seem wise doing it with Comrades just a few weeks after.
  8. Is that the same route as the Wietse 50km run? If so I would have no problem with doing that race as I absolutely love his Gordon’s Bay to Kleinmond run.
  9. Lets hope so. The silence till this far is making me very nervous.
  10. Nooooo [emoji33] ballot system for the ultra at Two Oceans as well [emoji2363] https://www.twooceansmarathon.org.za/entry-info/entry-status/
  11. I’m in for next year. Grand total of R696 with a small charity donation of R50. R600 +R50 leaves a service charge of R46 [emoji848]
  12. I normally take mine in the morning. My wife used to take hers at night though [emoji2375]
  13. Craai apologies for using the term ‘crawled’ haha. After a nights rest I feel much better about yesterday’s effort and know I will hit that goal sometime or the other. Yesterday was just not that day. In the midst of all this self induced ‘anguish’ I am still very happy for those that reached their targets including my buddy with a 4:27 in his first ever marathon.
  14. Those are insane splits. Makes me as a mere mortal feel extremely insignificant [emoji23]
  15. So how did everyone’s race work out? Mine fell apart at about 25km’s. Was going along merrily hitting my targets and all of a sudden my gut just refused to work with me. Cramps and extreme heartburn. Had to resort to walking lots more than I planned and also sucking down water in an effort to try and get the heartburn sorted which of course led to a sloshing, uncomfortably full stomach. Really disappointed thought I had finally sorted out my nutrition issues with the Tailwind. Guess it’s back to the drawing board. Managed to crawl over the line in 03:45 when I had thought a sub3:30 was on the table. Everyone around me cannot understand why I’m so disappointed in that as it is not that bad a time but ja, really hoped to do much better.
  16. Here’s to hoping all of us make our targets. My legs are feeling tired after this week of tapering, lets hope they wake up tomorrow with the rest of me.
  17. I considered it this year but sanity prevailed [emoji23]. Would rather give my Comrades qualifier the best shot I can and have that pressure of me
  18. Think G is the lowest. My buddy and his uncle also didn’t enter any race times and they ended up in G.
  19. So to everyone doing CT this weekend are you happy with your seedings? I sort of expected the B I received but see there are already moans and groans from others regarding theirs.
  20. Tell me about it. The more I’m thinking about it the more I’m convinced that my throat is extremely sore with accompanying ear pain. Not forgetting my knee that all of a sudden is also complaining [emoji30]
  21. No difference between sub 3:30 and sub 3:40 in terms of Comrades seeding. Only at Two Oceans so depending on what you want to do it might influence your planning. Waiting for our seedings to come through, hopefully at least B batch.
  22. With me it’s not about carrying water but rather my Tailwind. It work much better for me than the gels and bars.
  23. This is the first time I have actually put a target for myself and trained towards it. Normally I decide a week or so ahead of time what I would like to do and go for it. This time however I have actually started doing stuff like interval training and hill repeats. Worked out what my training paces should be and tried sticking to it. So ja, I would be very disappointed if I don’t make the sub3:30. Since starting to train properly again I have done very few races, the Eastern’s 15km @ 4:21/km followed by the Cape Town Festival of Running 50km @ 6:00/km (used as long run training). I then used the John Korasie 30km @ 4:49/km and this weekend’s West Coast half marathon at 4:19/km as fitness gauges. Done a few tempo long runs at 5:15/km the longest being 34km’s and the rest of my long runs at 5:30 to 5:44/km. So ja, I feel confident about reaching my target but also have a heavy case of the nerves just thinking about it. Guess we’ll see in 13 days time [emoji30]
  24. Yip. Unfortunately can’t see the CMA accepting this as a qualifier.
  25. Geez that sucks Andrew. It’s not the top guys that worry me, it’s the slower guys that have much fewer opportunities to qualify for Comrades and Oceans that have my sympathy. Or the guy with limited finance that can only enter one or two races to qualify and cannot afford accommodation and transport to other races. . Someone needs to man up and take responsibility for the cock up. Lots of unhappiness on social media about it.
