  1. I have settled on not trying anything new for CT. Will just use my soft flask as planned and try and persuade the wife and kids to second me so that I can minimise the weight I have to carry. Although I have done lots of trail with my back pack I need this to go well as it will be my Comrades qualifier.
  2. Does anybody perhaps have the gpx file for the Three Peaks Challenge? Suppose I have to start training for this after the Cape Town Marathon. Something tells me I’m gonna regret wanting to do this [emoji2363]
  3. Shot for that will have to try this out at the West Coast half this weekend.
  4. The only reason I want a vest is for my Tailwind. Seems to work the best for me. Starting to wonder however if using a soft flask that I can just tuck away isn’t perhaps an option. That is if I can actually run, pour the Tailwind powder into my flask and then add water all on the trot.
  5. Lots of guys targeting sub 3:30 in their next marathon myself included. With CTM approaching I have started wondering though if I’m ready for it. Have done the training and at the John Korasie 30km I managed to run a comfortable 2:35 so that gives me some hope. Except for the last 4km’s into Simonstown with that headwind. That wasn’t comfortable at all [emoji30]
  6. Thanks Jackes. See there are a few shops in the area that actually keep stock. Would love to fit the 2.5 or 5l before blindly ordering online.
  7. I just bought a set of Nimbus 21’s a few weeks back from Run Store in Bellville. Had a fantastic chat with the very knowledgeable salesman including a session on the treadmill to analyse my gait and checking it again afterwards in my new shoes. At no time was I rushed or made to feel as if my business wasn’t important. How much would I have saved if I bought the same shoes from SW? R1.
  8. More info on the hydration pack please. Am considering doing the Cape Town Marathon with a hydration pack but the one I’ve been using is quite bulky and heavy.
  9. Upwards of half marathons I only run in tights. My running vest is long enough to cover my wobbly bits. Haven’t chafed in years, the only problem is the constant catcalling from the side of the road [emoji2363]
  10. I have dabbled with the LCHF diet before and my buddy is now also going the keto route. However my experimentation with it was quite short lived. As I told my buddy, I run so that I can eat cookies [emoji1787]. It has made quite a difference with him though in terms of weight loss.
  11. Was thinking of this on my long run this morning. 2018 I went through three pairs of takkies. At 2800 ront per pair this running is not as cheap as what we would like to make it out to be. Especially once you start adding in stuff like accommodation for the races, flights car rentals [emoji30]
  12. So I somehow managed to make the cut for the Three Peaks Challenge. Anybody else here done it previously? All of a sudden I think I might have been too eager to do this [emoji23]
  13. Sorry Graham just pushed you into sixth spot [emoji23]. Lots of knowledgeable okes on here, I’m not one of them lol.
  14. I am aiming for a sub 3:30 at the Cape Town Marathon as well. With all the speed work I’ve been doing though I can’t help but wonder if I shouldn’t try for a sub 3:20? The rational part of my brain says don’t attempt it and blow my chance at a sub 3:30 though.
  15. Andrew I don’t know about you but whenever I see a camera I make sure I look comfy and fresh [emoji23]
  16. So I see the usual idiots are being called out on social media for cheating. Guys that are running 8:00mins/km and all of a sudden get a second wind and start doing 3:32mins/km from Polly Shortts [emoji2363]
  17. There’s a reason Bruce Fordyce says the toughest marathon you’ll ever run is the first half of a Comrades up run. This is exactly what I felt with my first Comrades as well [emoji23]. Well done on finishing.
  18. What a run from Gerda well done [emoji1490]
  19. Good luck to all Hubbers running tomorrow. God willing I’ll be joining you on the start line next year.
  20. That would be awesome thanks. I will of course reimburse you for all costs, shipping etc.
  21. Ah well. Hoped to source one online but doubt there’ll be any left by the time my clubmates get there.
  22. I’ll take anything to make me feel better about missing it this year [emoji30]
  23. You want to know whats worse for me? Actually working at the Cape Town Airport and watching all the runners board their flights to Durban [emoji30]. Swear I’m not ever going to be in this position again [emoji23]
  24. Is it time for me to start staying off social media already [emoji23]. Fomo going to be bad.
